Chinese set record straight on climate change
9 years ago
Back on Nov 6, just before the presidential election, Donald Trump tweeted, "The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive."
Well, the Chinese have now responded and basically told him he's full of crap. (Of course, those with any reasonable intelligence already knew this.) China’s Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin told reporters, “If you look at the history of climate change negotiations, actually it was initiated by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) with the support of the Republicans during the Reagan and senior Bush administration during the late 1980s.” So not only was it not started by the Chinese, but was in fact began under a Republican administration.
From the IPCC web page: "The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the leading international body for the assessment of climate change. It was established by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in 1988 to provide the world with a clear scientific view on the current state of knowledge in climate change and its potential environmental and socio-economic impacts."
There are currently 195 countries in the IPCC, with the U.S. being one of the originals, which means Reagan, Bush, or both supported the initiative.

and america's mismanagement of environment, is the most real and present danger to the u.s., humanity, and the planet.
not that everyone else hasn't to some degree done so also, and china is guilty of this too, but of all of them really, we have the least excuse for it.
