Drawing Animals
In the previous lessons, we learned how to break apart complex objects into basic shapes, and how to find an objects volume through the use of light and shadows.
In this lesson we will be dealing with;
=Proportion: the comparative and harmonious size relationship between parts.
=Contour: the lines in a drawing which appear to wrap around a figure or object, indicating depth and shape.
Steps for drawing an animal;
+ Pick an animal you would like to draw.
+ Look for the basic shapes.
+ Lightly draw the basic shapes.
-- Indicating these underlying shapes will help you create accurate proportions in your drawing, and will help you to correctly draw the contours which will give weight and feel to your drawing!
+ Now that you have a reliable goundation, flush out the basic shapes by quickly sketching in the approximate details you observe.
+ Spend more time defining the details of the animal, as well as creating the shadows and highlights. The animal still needs the same shadow and light definition that simple objects do, just applied to a slightly more complex shape.
For this assignment we will pick one animal to draw using these techniques. One rough sketch of a single animal is all that is required. If you are feeling ambitious you can do more, but you don't have to.
Anyone who decides to colors their animal drawing as well will recieve an additional 5 bonus Guild Points!!! :D
I had intended on drawing mine and posting a link to it so it could be used as an example. But I kept falling asleep during the time I was going to work on it! :P I hope to get to it either thursday or friday.
If anyone needs some reference material, I can upload some pictures of the technique book I got this lesson from! :D

FA+

I very exited to see what kind of animal you will draw! I just know it's going to turn out AWESOME!!! ;)
It feels a little wierd not having mine finished and posted already. But the idea I have for mine is one I want to make EXTRA SPECIAL!!! ^_^
Best of luck to ya!!
I'll have to go... OUTSIDE! With the Sun thing and the air thing!
Unless I lure a bird into my window or something.
You could do that, or you could just search the internet for some reference material on whatever animal you want to draw!
I thought of that, but it seemed kind of cheaty. I'll try to draw a "live model", but if time starts to run out I switch to "pic model" -which sounds easier-.

YAY!!! I get to post in the journal like everbody else this time!!! :P
No problemo! :D
I don't want ya to feel really pressured or anything. Just whenever you get the time is perfect!
You're the first one to finish too!!
You've got a lot of bonus GP's coming your way!! :3
What do you think I should do? Should I post another assignment, or keep waiting for the other members to finish up prior assignments first?
I really am sorry for the lack of activity here... You have probably been ready for the next assignment for quite some time. Is there any way I can make it up to you? ^_^
But it's been a while :S
Are they doing it? Did the dog eat it? Are we alone??
I'll try to think of something to get us out of this situation. If you need a hand, let me know.
