I'm american but I've been following the UK politics. the problem is that labor seems to be worse, they're almost as bad as the democrats are over here in america. quite honestly if I were a UK citizen I'd vote ukip

Which media outlets have you been using to keep up with UK politics?

I ask because it's well known that most mainstream news outlets are run by people who have vested interests in who wins elections for their own benefit. Fox News, Sky News, The Daily Mail and The Sun being obvious ones, but even the BBC has been seen showing bias against Labour, because it's not in the government's interests for them to succeed, nor is it for the bankers and aristocrats who lobby in order to keep the Conservatives in power.

But then again, Jeremy Corbyn is an evil socialist so obviously rich people and bigots know better. :/

I get most of my news via youtube. one of my favorites is british and has a vested intrest in seeing brexit happen in a way adventitious to britan he hates both the conservatives and labor but admits the conservatives are... less worse I totaly feel for you folks in britan you find yourselves in the exact same situation we find ourselves in the US

Ahh Sargon of Akaad, you mean? Yeah I can definitely see why people don't want Labour to gain power in it's current state, but without proportional representation it's hard to imagine any other party making as much of a dent as Labour, and personally I'd much rather them than 5 more years of a party that continues to increase inequality, strives to control more and more of what we can say or do online, and recently banned female ejaculation from being filmed in UK porn productions. Also, the general public as a whole seem to be really fickle, many taking information from tabloids at face value, not knowing any better, or worse not caring to know any better.

Forgive me for being one of those blabbering pipe-dreamers who believe everyone deserves free everything. Trust me, if proportional representation was a thing I would've voted Green in a heartbeat! I won't deny the Labour Party is absolutely riddled with flaws and piss poor recitals of specific figures, but unfortunately the powers that be have this really craftily cruel way of turning democracy into choosing the lesser of two evils once every half a decade, instead of actually making it feel as though you have any influence with what you believe in.

For now, we can only try with what we have. Sorry America. :(

Also, my deepest apologies for assuming that you subscribe to mainstream right-wing media for your information. I wanted to make a point about corporations that endorse particular points of view and make use of their influence to sway the masses. I didn't mean to implicate you as a fool or a sheep.

honestly when it comes to actual media I keep an eye on but don't necessarily agree with sites run by the two partisan extremes (breitbart- who has a bad habit of just saying stupid things- and npr -a news site so upper class in it's tone it made me a misanthrope). sometimes one of them makes sense however that's a once in a blue moon event. you should feel lucky your conservatives don't yammer on and on about an fictional book because it gets them votes x.x.

Yeah, your vote doesn't matter at all when your area is held by an overwhelming majority every election.

First past the post sucks especially for that reason. Despite being in a Tory safe seat myself, I voted anyway. At least then I can say I did my bit to stand against the tide, and who knows how many others went in and did the same.

Labour is up as I type this. I never would have expected it, things have been so bad lately! Even if Labour slips short of a majority, this is a great victory for the people! Good luck, you guys. I seem to be looking to other nations to find hope nowadays...
