Well, I did it! I know that it's very late, but I took the time to rewrite the first chapter of In the Shadow of Your Horns. It's been edited here and uploaded on both Penana and Wattpad. I also gave it a new title, "The Black Wings of the Morning", to mark the occasion:

I'm very pleased with the end result! Truthfully speaking, I was fine with the old draft for a while, but now that it's been sufficiently fleshed out, the older draft almost embarrasses me in comparison. To be fair, don't we tend to be our worst critics?

The story so far can be found on FA, but I'm hoping to alter a few more aspects of the subsequent chapters in the near future. They'll likely be minor details that need further refinement. Once complete, I will uploaded these new drafts to FA, Penana and my Wattpad account, as well:
