A art teacher.

Honestly. Finding a teacher to help you master how to draw can cost so much! I really need a teacher for this. I am sure there is online stuff like that where a art teacher will teach you all you need to know. I want to do art myself. I really want to draw like all of you guys. But I am so horrible at drawing. But yet I do enjoy it. I want to make art and do commission like Starit. His art style is really the style I want to get myself to yet I am tooooo far from getting to his level. With all the slack he been doing for me of allowing me to pay when I can is making me upset. He is a friend, and I don't want to abuse that friendship. It made me think. It's time I start doing drawing on my own so I could make gift art for him one day.. But again I suck at drawing. Very very bad at it. I will start off by doing my own art. Then when I feel I can. I may take request later for friends. But to all you season artist. Any tips and site I can use to help me get started of how to draw. The best devices to do art on? And I was hoping a friend who is is an artist could work with me along the way. Show my art to them and tell me how to improve it. I want that, and I want a friend to be honest in what I need to do. And tell how good and bad I am doing.
But yeah, I really hope to learn. Drawing use to be my passion. Not sure how I lost that. But I guess it started when I my drawing did not seem to be getting any better and life gets in the way and I needed a job to put a roof over my head. I won't lie, I want to do commissions one day to make some side cash when I am at home and not working. But the real reason I want to make side money for doing art is to buy better stuff so I can draw and improve. I don't even know how to start. What is the best way to start off when doing digital art? Kind of like Startit. I love his style. So good and yet simple. But even though it look simple. It is really not that simple. So...yeah. Help?

Now, you don't really need a "teacher" per se, most of the artists I know taught themselves. There are tons of tutorials online, start searching and practicing and work hard, there's sadly no other solution to it. And yeah, it's very frustrating, because it feels like you don't improve, it takes a long time to start seeing a difference, but you'll get there.

This is something I drew in 2009, when I started drawing. I have a ton of pictures like these, and just looking at them and feeling like I wasn't improving made me feel like shit. And I'll be honest, I often still feel like shit comparing myself to other artists nowadays. It comes with the trade. The lesson is, don't get discouraged, and keep going at it. Find time to draw every day.
Always look for references, look for photos, for people, animals, places, anything. Don't try to draw from just memory, and keep at it. It's not an easy road, but it's possible to do it. If you ever want to show me your drawings and ask for my opinion, I'd be ok with it, don't be a stranger.
Also that art you have is one of ya first? Hell even I can't draw that good still! Yes...I am that bad....very very bad. It's been too long. But I hope friends like you will cheer me on and help me with advice on how to improve and what I need to stop doing and what I need to start doing. So when I do get the things I need to do my first art in a long time. Please. Criticize me. It's what I want. And again thanks for all the trouble and putting up with me. You really mean a lot to me. You have Discord by the way? Perhaps we could chat at times? Love to just chat. But thats all up to you. You seem like a fun guy. Love to play games with too. Perhaps the new Monster Hunter game. Monster hunter world. Assuming you still play games and have a PS4. Again thanks for all you do.
I'll PM you my discord.
But the reason why I am commenting here is to give you a hopefully helpful suggestion.
The key to learn how to draw well is... just spend a lot of time drawing. That's it, that's the key. Your friend above is right, drawing from memory won't take you anywhere if you're just starting. Always keep a lot of reference pics in front of you.
It's important to study what you're looking at and figure out why things look a certain way. Look at anatomy diagrams and memorize the shape of muscles, bones, etc. so you can locate them in actual living people or animals.
Thanks to the internet you have access to infinite references.
Also I see you thinking about getting a tablet: well don't worry about it. I think the best tool of learning is still the old paper and pencil or pen. When you'll feel comfortable with your art you can think about getting a tablet but don't think that digital art is easier or better than traditional art. To study anatomy and perspective you don't need a tablet. You can think about color later, just focus on the shapes first.
I wish you good luck and let me know if you have any questions :)
