eurofurence? eurofurence!

OKAY SO wow, it's been a day. but it's got some positive outcomes. lemme tell you.
i was supposed to be going to an anime convention at warwick uni in july called amecon. over the past few years, my interest in these cons has dwindled to nothing; it's been a long time since i've read any manga or watched any anime, and i don't like video games. i was going because i felt obliged to. this morning, i finally talked to my friends and told them i felt like i was only going because they wanted me to rather than because i'd get any enjoyment. so i decided to cancel my registration.
at the same time, i was looking into other furry cons in mainland europe. whenever i go to a con for the first time, i like to stay off-site and not go for the entire time. some of my friends and i were considering trying eurofurence next year but going whole-hog. so i prodded tris and asked how he would feel about berlin for a long weekend. fortunately, ef registration opened yesterday. he agreed that it'd be cool to see berlin and try a con abroad. we reserved a room at a nearby hotel, sorted our flights, registered for the con and tah dah! we're going to eurofurence.
i'm nervous and excited at the same time. i only got a passport with the right name and gender marker in october last year. it'll have been 13 years since i last went abroad by the time we go. it's been so long since i last travelled that far, i've never actually booked overseas by myself.
what an adventure, right?
