Looks like I cracked 30k pageviews.

Got a couple weeks of college left and will be graduating. However, I'm transferring to the University to continue onward to get my degree, as I need it to get a CPA designation.

Are you going for an accounting degree then if you are looking to get your CPA? Or is this a different CPA?

Yes. I'm about to get my Accounting Diploma, so two more years with the 2+2 program will get me my Accounting Degree, then it's about another two years to get CPA.

Congrats! I graduated with my bachelor's two years ago. I'm not currently getting my CPA because I got a job at a public firm, but I still might. Definitely try to get it done before you move into the industry! I'm averaging 50 hours a week for work, which means I have very little time to study.

CPA designation requires 30 months of qualifying work, so that's unavoidable.

I'm not familiar with how Canada handles the CPA, however you may want to look into the difference between sitting for the tests and actually getting the licence. For example, in the state of Michigan (where I'm at), I can sit and take the tests after finishing the University courses, but I can't receive the licence until after 2000 hours of work under a registered CPA.

You may have something similar in your area where you can take the tests before the mandatory work period and get them out of the way while the academic knowledge is still fresh in your mind.

We had a CPA representative come in and explain everything to us, as well as a few of my instructors having their CPA or equivalent grandfathered designation (CA, CMA, etc.) To get into the CPA program, you must first complete a number of qualifying courses which basically boils down into getting an Accounting degree. Once you're accepted into the CPA program you need 30 months of qualifying work experience while doing part-time courses from CPA, with a two day, four hours each test final test that I believe you need at least 70% to pass.
