- 2018 Updates Journal -

HEY THERE!
Hey there, it's been quite a while since I have done one of these journals. So much has happened since the last time I made one of these, which I believe was at the end of 2016, start of 2017...Here goes!
LIFE, HOUSE, WORK, & UNCERTAINTIES
Life has been busy for me on and off...Mainly a lot of on than off. Since my last update I have been taking on more small responsibilities with my help desk job and got a huge raise at my last annual review. Manager's 2-3 year plan for me is to get me into a Systems Administrator position, but this brings me into an area of uncertainties...I have been doing my help desk job for 12 years and 4-ish months now and I have been thinking of the idea of switching careers in the next 2-3 years...Nothing set in stone right now, just ideas in a grey realm. I have a niche for doing events from ideas to logistics to running and I think, what if I made this into a career? If I do decide to go back to school to pursue a new career path I want to make sure
graduates first, lands his career job, and go from there. Right now I just do not think it would be financially smart as we have enough month-end bills already plus other financial tasks. I will have a much more clear answer on this as time goes on.
Mid-June I got to take my first work trip to our Washington, IL facility. This was a nice change and needed since I have never seen this facility so I got to know it and talk to the people and see their technical obstacles and work with their issues. This is where I love that I have a company card as I got to rent my own car, set myself up in a hotel, & live free for a week. After my work trip I dropped off my rental in Chicago and my doge picked me up and we finished out the weekend in Chicago with some buddies there...This was a nice unwind to a busy work week.
I am still in all sorts of love with my doge and all of our big and small adventures we go on. We still do not know when we are getting married yet, but this is also a future adventure
Lately these last two summers have been sudden, or unscheduled, house projects that came up due to something that happened. Last year was main level painting project and replacing kitchen flooring. This month has been completely remodeling our bathroom from our old boring look to a brighter modern look and we love it. I also got approved for a Home Depot card so next Friday we are getting a brand new AC unit as the current is the original and it's noisy at times and an energy hog. Hoping to also get a new washer/dryer unit too...During our remodel project I got to get sushi with my favorite deer
during his birthday!
Back at the start of 2018 I weight about 200 pounds (possibly over) and have been on calorie counting and Soylent. I have been continuing this trend ever since and when the weather turned to warmer temperatures I have been doing a lot of biking. Currently I am somewhere between 180-182 and my goal weight is 175. Has it been fun and easy doing this? No it hasn't, dieting is never fun and exercise is a chore, but I am also committed to it. There is also a lot of healthier food options I do enjoy too!
EXTRA-CURRICULAR
This year for Furry Migration is my last year running the Help Desk. With my real-world help desk job being taxing I do not have much of a drive for the FM side so this is what I have decided. I still plan to remain a sub-head for Registration and will continue to see how that goes moving forward.
In the MNFure realm and especially with this summer being busy, I have not been able to do much...I had two events lined up and one I cancelled due to rain and the next I had to cancel due to a major snow storm which kept me in the house and it was boring. I am hoping after September with FM and the Fall Picnic to start up some fursuit romps and other fun events.
MISC, RANDOM THOUGHTS, & STUFF
Boss let me have some spare computer parts I was originally going to recycle. Got myself a fun server-grade motherboard with all other components. Once we get some more disposable income I want to get a smaller more portable case and GeForce card and this will be a dedicated VR rig. Currently using my doge's rig and with it being a full ATX tower it's a pain to lug around.
One thing I have noticed during the Spring and Summer is that I usually do not game much...I try to sit in front of my computer on weekends, but then I just get antsy and want to go biking or do something else outside.
I have a few albums on vinyl now and, this goes back to having more disposable income, I want to get a player...Not something flat out expensive and top of the line, but more a "starter" one first to see if I fully like the sound of vinyl. Otherwise, I am still all about digital and sometimes CD if my favorite artists put out some cool collector's shit.
Back when Isle Of Dogs came out I picked up the cool collectible set --> IMAGE HERE
Foxes rule!
CONCLUSION
Thank you for reading!
