Suspended again; Deleting 10% of my pictures. Sorry
7 years ago
Hello,
I was suspended again tonight for something I drew several years ago. This time it was a fan request for a character named "Tabaluga" who, I guess is maybe underage or maybe 800 years old. Having never seen the show, the character's intended age is ambiguous to me but I was given one last chance to avoid a permanent ban. I asked a mod a question to the effect of, "I have 1,002 pictures in my gallery, can you scrutinize them and flag which characters are underage so I can avoid a ban?" And their answer was, "Well no, we can not do that, you will have to use your own judgment." So to that end, I have employed my own judgment to try and avoid a ban.
The issue is, I have been posting art here since 2005. I have drawn characters from TV shows I have never watched, video games I have never played, OCs for people whom I have never met. I don't know anything about these characters other than what I can google. But, with 1,002 pictures, even if I make a mistake 0.1% of the time -- well, that is 1 picture, and that is all it takes to get me banned now. It is trivial for someone to dig back through my old art and find, "Oh you drew drum bunker dragon back in 2013, he is canonically 16, ha ha ha, now you are banned."
So, to avoid a permanent ban, I have removed all pictures from my gallery featuring alien hominid, ashchu, bal dragon, bubble bobble, chibisuke, deku link, hamsters, iidx aliens, ishihi and noshihi from zorori, jake long, klonoa, land before time, nibbler, puchikoon, small mice, sparkster, specter (from ape escape), spyro the dragon, teemo, tony tony chopper, wonder boy and zabivaka. Some of these characters (e.g sparkster and spyro) are canonically underage, some (e.g wonder boy and klonoa) are ambiguously underage but seem like they might be kids. Some (e.g nibbler, tabaluga) have proportions or mannerisms which make them look like children, even if they're canonically mature.
I have also removed pictures featuring charmander, sandshrew, veemon, and riolu in some contexts. Specifically in contexts featuring their evolved forms, which sort of encouraged the idea of age difference and made things seem iffy.
This list is not comprehensive and I may remove more art in the future. Specifically, I might remove more art including koopalings. Maybe koopalings are underage. Canonically I think they are underage, but they have not gotten me in trouble in the past for some reason. I might also remove art featuring Ratchet. I guess Ratchet was 17 in his first game, but he is 18 now. Will the mods think I was drawing Ratchet from the first game or the newest game? Some of the art was drawn before the newest game came out. Maybe I will get in trouble.
I will upload less art here now. If you are interested in seeing more of my art I encourage you to follow me on Twitter, Inkbunny, Tumblr, or FurryNetwork.
Hopefully these steps are enough to avoid a ban. Sorry, I know this sucks. Have a taco. I am not doing this to punish FurAffinity or to rile up an angry mob. I love FurAffinity, it has been my home for 13 years and I just want to stay here. I have worked hard to play by the rules. They used to warn me, "You can't upload Bowser Jr. here," and they'd delete my picture and I wouldn't upload Bowser Jr. anymore. But, now they do not want to do that. They just want to ban me. That is too bad. I will work really, really, really hard to not be banned.
Wish me luck
Edit: I have removed all koopaling pictures from my gallery too, sorry. I was really on the fence about it. But I was banned from Weasyl for Koopalings. They are Bowser's "kids" and have high-pitched voices in the show. Their ages are ambiguous, but many web sites list them as being as young as 6 or as old as 17. None put them over 18 years of age. I am just trying to avoid trouble.

FA+

The fact this is happening to many people who aren't even aware what they drew that broke TOS is just abhorrent
I was suspended, and when I contacted them they unsuspended me with the understanding that I need to be far more diligent as far as scrutinizing my gallery for characters which could be construed as underage
I'm not really unhappy about anything except the suspensions and the 2 strikes thing. It is like playing a game of 20 questions where the game ends after someone answers "No" 2 times. It is a hard game to win.
There are times where banning someone without warning is a good idea but for the love of god this isn't one of them. This is the kind of situation where you should contact the artist, tell them the submission which is breaking the rules and if it's removed no harm done and no strike on the account. I only see it fair is when they refuse to take it down but just straight up banning is how you make potential artists not bother with FA
In the mod's eyes, it looks like a child character from a child's TV show so maybe it seems like an eggregious offense.
Iggy Koopa is also a similar character from a similar TV show. Snarf is a similar character from a similar TV show.
It was an honest mistake but -- of course, that is what anybody would say to defend themselves. "There are no innocent men in prison."
But he is right, bestiality is very much illegal and hated when conducted in reality yet for some reason a damn cartoon character is not given that same treatment.
I draw Spyro The Dragon and I think, "i drew a sexy dragon." Someone else looks at my Spyro picture and thinks, "you drew a sexy 12-year-old." Well, that's not what I was trying to draw. Hopefully the same people who misinterpret the intent of my art are not in control of handing out bans. But, sometimes they are the same people...
I hope your approach works and support your work regardless. You're an awesome contributor and FA is doing themselves as a disservice by ostracizing you.
To me, I have just uploaded 1,000+ arbitrary rule34 pictures and tried really hard to censor characters (Fievel, Sonic, Tails) which are blatantly underage, while including characters (Bowser Jr, Koopalings, Zabivaka) who seem OK
To them, maybe it just looks like I don't care about rules at all, and I am uploading whatever I feel like, even blatantly underage characters who are 8 years old and on children's TV shows
I don't think it's too surprising that two arbitrary people can have a disagreement about 4 pictures out of 1,000 pictures, regarding whether those pictures involve minors or not.... So, I am not surprised about that. But, I am surprised that disagreement results in a ban. I wish they would be more lenient about honest mistakes.
Also, thanks for the taco. :3
If Joey McChildPorn uploads 1 picture a year, and 20% of his art is deliberately cub because fuck the system, well, he will get away with it for about 10 years
If I upload 1 picture a day, and 0.2% of my art is accidentally cub because oops, I'm not intimately familiar with details of every obscure japanese CCG ever made, well, I will be banned after 2 years
I know their intended message is "don't break rules," but the actual message they broadcast with a 3-strikes system is "post less art." There is not a human being on the planet who could look at stuff like neopets, buddyfight dragons, an assortment of 80s TV shows and CCGs and tell with 100% accuracy which characters are minors. Even equipped with google, there is just too much ambiguity. But with only 99.8% accuracy, well -- I am trying my best. Maybe the mods will change their enforcement, but otherwise this might be my last year on FurAffinity, since I will inevitably be banned over some arbitrary disagreement
He should go under the same rules as pokemon/digimon since they too are ambiguous.
But, I agree it is frustrating for characters like Tabaluga which do not look like human children, and which are canonically over 18. I'm not sure how I could have avoided breaking a rule that time. Presumably if I watched every single episode of the show, I would have seen an episode where he sings a song about "being a grown-up dragon, soon" but... that seems like an unusual burden for someone who is drawing a rule34 character. Before accepting rule34 requests, am I expected to purchase the associated anime/TV show and watch every episode? What about unpopular shows which do not have English translations? What about when languages are translated differently? Perhaps the English version of an episode features the dragon studying for his MCATs but the Portuguese version studying for his high school entrance exams?
Well, to me it seems an unfair expectation. But, of course I am very biased. I will continue to try my best.
But, I've never seen a popular artist "get away with" something like Bowser Jr or something like that which I got banned for. Maybe it happens! Maybe I follow the wrong artists.
I once brought up Gnar art to the staff and I was given the excuse that it's technically OK bc he was frozen for thousands of years and thus was acceptable (even though he didn't age at all). He was frozen at 4. He's not an adult.
We deserve better imo.
i'll do my best to stay on FA as long as I can... but, you know, things happen... ...it'll be sad, but if it happens it happens
i'm super surprised gnar is OK! i wish there was an explicit whitelist/blacklist to look to. that would go a long way to avoiding ambiguity, otherwise we're all just guessing and asking the same exact questions over and over... and worst case, maybe getting different answers!
At least it sounds like you're on top of it and actions like this I think speak louder than anything and show an effort, though wish there was something in place with how ambiguous things can be and something is hard defined in rules for these kind of situations.
Also you can post koopalings+bowserjr on FA without a ban if you're popular enough, and I'm pretty sure Ratchet is safe
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11903904/
These are the only kinds of bowser jr pics I see by "popular" artists; they are clearly aged up so I understand why they are OK
I think the mods do a good job enforcing the rules consistently. Some pictures slip by, but I do not think it is due to favoritism
There's always been a trend that shows as popularity goes up, so does the chance admins ignore you.
Hollo did draw bowser jr, but Hollo's version is taller than the classic design; about 5-6 heads tall instead of the canonical 2 heads tall. I would assume the mods interpreted this as being "aged up"
If I am popular, I am certainly an exception to the theory of admins ignoring popular artists as I have been suspended twice in two months. If I am unpopular, well, I am an exception to the theory that unpopular artists can't draw Larvitar/Tyranitar or Koopalings without getting reported. I don't know. To me it seems like I was banned because I drew things other artists didn't draw. (The shorter version of Bowser Jr, and Tabaluga)
I am not saying "there is definitely not bias," but I'd need to see a more concrete example of bias, like a popular artist literally drawing a 2-heads-tall Bowser Jr like what I drew, or a 3-heads-tall Tabaluga like what I drew, and not getting banned for it. ...Or, an unpopular artist drawing a Larvitar and getting banned for it. People say there is evidence of it everywhere, but I still haven't seen it for myself.
inkBunny retains all of my recent art (or said another way, they do not host my old art.)
There is a blind spot for old bad art -- there are some pictures which were only hosted on FurAffinity because they were too awful for e621, and too old for inkBunny. So, those pictures were lost
I still have them on my hard drive. I am not sure where I would archive them. I am honestly not really sure who would want to see them, either.
I think they'll want to see them. Even the bad pictures.
I am of course receiving a lot of empathy from people who say things like, "You should move to Weasyl," or "The mods are doing a terrible job," or "The popular artists get away with it," or "Cub art doesn't hurt anybody," or "The mods should go through all 1,000 of your pictures, you shouldn't have to do it yourself". But, I don't think any of that matches my experience, or is honest. Weasyl is worse than FA. The FA mods are I think doing their best. I haven't seen popular artists drawing underage characters. I think it's good to have rules against depictions of children in pornography. I don't expect the mods to go through all 1,000 of my pictures, that is too much.
But, I'd just like a public blacklist we can read. I'd like to be able to browse a list to see whether Sparkster, Spyro, Koopalings and Zabivaka violate AUP, so that I don't have to guess. And if I guess wrong, I feel like I shouldn't be punished for it. ...Is there literally anything I can do better? Anything besides being better at guessing? It just feels impossible.
I will continue streaming, I will continue drawing all of the stuff I used to draw. I will simply not post things like Spyro The Dragon or Sparkster to FurAffinity, since there is a reasonable chance they could ban me for it randomly in 2022.
So honestly I know it's an unpopular opinion and I am probably pissing off the very fans who are empathizing with me right now. But, I think it makes sense to censor underage characters whether they are fictional or not. But, I just think it's a very fuzzy and ambiguous line, and issuing suspensions and bans for something so ambiguous is counterproductive
I'm not asking for a website where it's OK to draw underage characters. I'm asking for one of these two things:
* (EITHER) an unambiguous blacklist of which characters are OK or not OK: "Bowser Jr. is banned, Morton Koopa is OK, Lemmy Koopa is banned." I just need something like that in writing so that I can follow the rules
* (OR) more leniency when a rule is broken. "Well, you drew Sparkster, but he is canonically 15 years old. We've removed the picture, try to avoid posting them again in the future."
Or I mean, a site which allows underage characters is fine too. But honestly, that kind of subject matter makes me uncomfortable so I'd prefer just a site which was moderated, but moderated in a more reasonable manner
it's a reasonable comparison and i don't make art celebrating rape, violence or nonconsentual acts either.
> I haven't seen people making such a huge fuss about any art depicting non-consensual stuff!
some people make a huge fuss over art depicting non-consentual stuff. some people make a huge fuss over cub art. different people make fusses over both things.
> Instead, it gets brushed off by saying "oh, it's just fiction, no one got actually hurt"
some people brush off that kind of art, and some people brush off cub art. people brush off both things.
i don't think it's particularly complicated. different people are offended by different stuff. if something horrible is in art i think it's reasonable that someone might imitate it. i think it's all arguably harmful. i don't think any of it should be illegal but i would empathize with any website which decided, "we don't want your art which depicts realistic scenarios of shooting up a school, or realistic scenarios of slipping something in someone's drink and raping them, because that's a horrible thing to depict"
and different pppl have different opinion on which char counts as iit or not
I think if they had a public whitelist blacklist which explicitly said, "Koopalings are OK, Spyro is OK, Bowser Jr is not OK," it would go a long way to avoiding good-faith violations of the AUP.
or else they can enforce depending on if they play favourites among artists
At FurAffinity, I have been suspended twice. The first time was for this picture, which I did not understand. I contacted FurAffinity's appeals team, and they reversed the suspension, indicating it was a clerical error. They thought I had uploaded the same cub picture to InkBunny and FurAffinity, and they had overlooked that the pictures were different. The second time was for this picture, and the mods immediately sent me a very clear note, "You were banned for drawing tabaluga, who is canonically 8 years old." I still felt this was unfair, so I contacted the appeals team, indicating that the character is canonically 800 in human years and I had no exposure to the TV show. They reversed the suspension once again, indicating I should have known better, but in the context of the TV show the character sings songs about growing up, and acts childlike, so I should be more careful.
At Weasyl, I have also been suspended twice. The first time was for this koopaling picture, which I did not understand. I have uploaded many koopaling pictures to Weasyl, what was special about that one? Koopalings were allowed on FurAffinity. Was Weasyl just more strict than FurAffinity about AUP? I still don't know. My second suspension was for three pictures simultaneously: #1, #2, and a different version of #3 which featured Jerry Mouse instead of Fievel. I again did not understand; which characters are in violation? Gnar? Zabivaka? Did they mistake Jerry Mouse for Fievel? Was it the koopalings again, or the samurai pizza cats picture? It could have been anything. It's entirely possible that, because I had 5-6 Koopaling pictures in my gallery, they just decided, "We will suspended him for each of these koopaling pictures 1-at-a-time, to get him off my site." I contacted the mod staff asking about the reasoning for my suspension, and which specific characters, and once again they did not tell me why I was suspended.
In summary:
1. Weasyl is stricter than FurAffinity regarding AUP (they disallow Koopalings, which appear to be permitted on FurAffinity)
2. Weasyl is more arbitrary than FurAffinity regarding AUP (they removed one of my Koopaling pictures, just randomly. FurAffinity has flagged stuff like Bowser Jr and Tabaluga, but have done so consistently)
3. Weasyl makes absolutely no attempt to communicate regarding takedowns (FurAffinity's staff has always responded to inquiries within 12 hours; Weasyl's staff has not responded to my inquiry in... Well, it has been 18 months now)
I do expect the moderators, when someone has been uploading art for 13 years, and there is an isolated picture from 2014 which happened to have a random character they drew once which is technically 800 or maybe technically 8, to maybe open a dialog with the artist or delete the picture. To not just ban a user because 0.1% of the pictures they draw technically violate AUP according to one moderator's opinion
Yeah, I don't expect this to be my last suspension. I expect to get in trouble for koopaling art at some point, or perhaps even some of the smaller pokemon (Riolu and Charmander for example.)
If a user (not an admin) reported the picture then this is just another eyeroll-worthy day at the Wal-Mart of furry art.
However, if there are admins that are going around themselves and finding some content that violates the agreements, then precedent says they're legally responsible for all content on the site.
If they simply care about objectionable art being hosted, shouldn't they just delete all of my art, and keep my account active?
I'm sorry you've been getting dinged for this argon, considering the circumstances it's hard not to think it's in some way malicious. I hope the extreme measures you're taking are enough to keep you unbanned, but it sucks that you have to do this.
Thanks, I'm bummed about it. But I think the important thing in circumstances is not to just keep making the same mistakes over and over. I have been adjusting how I post my art, and I have been adjusting how I conduct business, so that I rely on FurAffinity less and less. I think in time this will make things a lot less stressful, and I will not need to worry so much about being suspended anymore.
Instead of FurAffinity being like, "The site I use as a hub for all of a commissions, where all of my friends are, and I have been active on for 13 years," FurAffinity will just be, "Some site I post some of my art to sometimes, and where I used to be more active." Similar to VCL.
But when I stream now, I just ask people whether they think the character is a minor or behaves like a minor in the show they are in. I think this is moot, as it is trivial for a moderator to disagree and ban me anyways. But, well, I am trying... ... What else can I do?
For identification of Ratchet as from at earliest 2, he wears armor and shoes in every game after the first, and uses different weapons/gadgets. Characters from the later games or mention thereof could also work.
I feel if I remove too many things too aggressively, the moderators might interpret my actions the wrong way, like I am being overly vindictive.
http://www.furaffinity.net/search/?.....keywords+sonic
I think they do an OK job policing sonic and tails; there is a lot of weird/questionable art with things like being inflated or choked or showing off stinky feet, but the only pornography involves versions of the characters with distorted anatomy and grownup bodies
Maybe they do a worse job for more obscure sonic characters. Honestly I had a knuckles picture in my gallery until this incident. I'm surprised it was never caught.
The fuck?
It's the MOD's judgement that gets pictures deleted and suspensions/bans handed out. It's the MOD's job to give judgement, not the artist.
Someone really needs to learn how to do their job. It doesn't make sense to tell the creator to use their judgement when the moderator can exact their own judgement, as well as punishment, in one visceral move with no warning at all.
If they're going to make you decide and then tell you later that you're wrong, it would be only fair to give you a chance to fix it instead of drawing out the ol' whip as a first response.
FYI, Argon Vile read your comment live on his stream, and he remarked that you may just have the most reasonable comment on this journal. π
There is just too much room for ambiguity. I am not maliciously thinking, "Ha ha, their rules do not say anything about Zabivaka! I will draw children!!!" ...I am just ignorant. Zabivaka? Who is he? He is a world cup mascot. How old is he meant to be? He is a professional soccer player I guess... Does that mean he is in his 20s? Okay, I will draw him. Oh, he had a promotional youtube video where he was playing soccer with his friends during recess? ...Well, I did not know that. So I am suspended because I was unaware of a promotional youtube video? Okay.
Well, I guess if there are fewer artists, there will be fewer violations. They will achieve their goal in that way. ...I hope you follow me on other sites when I am inevitably banned. Thanks for seeing eye-to-eye on this. I do not think I am being unreasonable.
I like having seatbelt laws too. But I would not want to get a $200 ticket because I was sitting in a parked car with my seatbelt off.
I'm also sick and tired of moderators, not just on this website, being intentionally vague about their rules so that they can pick and choose what they feel like policing.
Artists are still free to express themselves. They will just need to find a different website. It is a dangerous precedent but, it is a big internet. We'll cope
Having to look through such a huge gallery and guess at what might or might not be ban-worthy sounds rough. Really hoping that you're able to stay on here, and I've gone and followed you on your other sites I've got accounts on so I can keep getting my daily dose of Argon!
I'd like to stay here too! But even if I am active on here, I will be uploading less art. It's good for you to follow me elsewhere. I will try to keep the doses daily it has been a tremendous challenge, but I'm proud of it
1. I made someone very angry who decided to try to vindictively trigger the "3 strikes rule" on my gallery so that I would be banned.
2. The Monster Mind discord server has been sporadically raided by nazi fur groups or similar groups who just hate gays or hate people who are compassionate towards minorities. It's also possible I'm being targeted by them because I created a game which was a little popular.
3. Because of the dramatically increased volume of art I post, more people are finding my gallery and just randomly stumbling upon material they find offensive, and see a need to report. "A purple dragon, that's hot. A blue dragon, that's hot. A GREEN DRAGON!?! That offends me, I have to report this picture"
4. FurAffinity has had some kind of sweeping change in administrative rules, possibly motivated by something like advertisers or financial companies pressuring them to be more aggressive against underage pornography.
5. One or two users are "on a mission against cub porn" so they are shotgun reporting all FurAffinity users who draw characters like charmander, riolu, veemon, or anything which is shorter than 3 heads tall
Your guess is as good as mine. I am leaning towards #5 because of how many artists have been targeted. But, it wouldn't explain why artists are being banned instead of simply having pictures removed. So, maybe a little of #4 and #5.
This isn't the right to go about the situation at hand from both parts of the party, as this can damage the site. Rules are important, but if drawing a cub leads to these issue as it can be considered child pornography, then the problem I'm seeing in this is that too much pornography is getting uploaded and the admins are feed up with seeing it. Then again if the admins are drawing pornography, then what is the difference to the rules? Right now this is disrespect to your rights, Argon.
When you say, "it isn't the right to go about the situation at hand from both parts of the party," I'm not sure what you mean. It sounds like you are saying the admins are wrong to suspend me, but I am also wrong to remove my art. I tried to remove my art in as unobtrusive a manner as possible. If I am told, "Hey chillax, koopalings are OK, you didn't have to do that," I can re-upload the art again. The comments and favorites have been preserved. Hopefully nobody is frustrated with my approach to handling this. I am trying to handle the suspension in a mature manner
In a sense, yeah they're wrong to suspend you. They did give you a warning, which is the important part. The only complaint I have is not exactly telling you what was the problem and rather having you search for the problem blind. It comes off to being lazy from the admins. As for on your end, it also was wrong, because rules on the website were disturbed in some way that the admins had to say something. Now hear me out on this. I support you 100% of everything going on and hope the solution gets resolved. Fighting sucks and I hate to see someone like you disappear due to it all.
It's also kind of funny how FA doesn't want this site "plagued" with potentially underaged characters where the ages are made up by the mods themselves and not the context provided, but they will force you to see all the gross AF inflation, scat, and watersports imagery when you try to search for something. They should focus more on enforcing tags and adding black lists than enforcing holier than thou attitudes from mods who can't tell the difference between an apple and an orange.
i've done so for other fetishes anyways; read a particularly influental story or seen a hot picture and then decided to imitate it in real life. "I have a coke bottle downstairs, would that really feel good?" "ouch, if i twist my dick that way, could it really reach? wouldn't that hurt?" i can all but guarantee you if 50,000 people look at this wartortle picture and they hadn't heard of that activity before, at least one would be influenced to research it and maybe attempt it themselves. it is just human nature
that's my personal view on fetishizing minors and it's why i avoid it; i don't want anything i draw to influence or inspire those kinds of real world actions. but of course i might accidentally draw two dragons from the same TV show without realizing this character was 23 years old, but this other one was 17 years old. They're dragons. They look like dragons. They don't look like kids. I can't tell.
I mean, of course you can come up with actual influential works that are bad. Drawing a picture of human intentionally raping a feral horse can intentionally promote bestiality, but drawing a picture of a human having sex with a pony from MLP or a pokemon does not intentionally support it. The same can go for underage artwork. Drawing a picture of a human molesting a human child, especially if it's drawn to resemble a human child by using a model of one, that can intentionally support CP and can be labeled as such, but drawing a picture of gumball or young asriel or any underaged OC that seems to have the sex drive of an adult just casually having sex does not intentionally support CP and, in my eyes, can't be labeled as such.
It really is just a moral grey area. I can see why people would want to avoid it just so they're not smacked with a label they do not want, but I can't see why people will demonize it when it clearly does not equal the same thing. It's as you put with Drum. They're a dragon and they don't look like a child, how does porn of them promote CP? The same can go for somebody like Ichigo or Orihime from Bleach. They're 15 before any sort of time skip. They look nothing like children, so how does porn of them promote CP? Like I said, it's a grey zone that I can see why people want to avoid, but not see why people will demonize it or throw it in with the same group when it's two different things.
Why did Rockstar make Grand Theft Auto? Is it because they want people to fantasize about pulling out a gun and murdering civilians? ...No, it is just because it is fun to drive around a car fast and run away from police, the gameplay is fun and exciting and you do it for an adrenaline rush or because the missions are cool or funny, or to test your hand-eye coordination, like with most video games.
Why did someone request for me to draw that Tabaluga picture? Is it because they wanted to fetishize having sex with an 8-year old? ...No, it is just because dragons are sexy and they liked the TV show, or remembered it as a child. They probably just had positive associations with the character the same way I have positive associations with Bowser and Yoshi and they wanted porn of a cool character they liked.
Other porn is **less** ambiguous in intent, and it is out there. There are graphic stories and comics about committing atrocities specifically with children, while babysitting them or placed in a position of responsibility. Why do people create those? Is it because they want to fantasize about committing a terrible crime and having sex with an 8-year old? ...Yes, it probably is. I think those kinds of artistic works are indefensible.
Well, I agree it is a moral grey area. But I think that for games like GTA, I think it is almost never people fantasizing about, "man I wish I could just get a gun and shoot someone in the head." Maybe like 1% of people might do that, but 1% of people might do that for Papers Please or Super Hexagon, who the hell knows. Most people play GTA just laughing at mayhem, watching a pedestrian trying to stand up while being rag-dolled by a fire hydrant, panicking while trying to evade police, or baffled at why a fire truck didn't stop when it ran over a civilian. But for pornographic works, people are specifically fantasizing about, "man I really wish I could run my tongue up and down Spyro's stomach", "wow I'd really love to run my fingers in that orc foreskin," or for vivid stories featuring minors in non-consentual acts, "man I really wish I could be a locked room with a minor and make him do whatever I say, just like in this story." I think like 95% of people, maybe more. Do you really think people read that for some kind of adrenaline thrill, or any reason other than jacking off? I think that's unlikely.
I'll continue accepting requests involving these kinds of characters, I just won't post them here. I was already being careful, but now I will be even more careful.
The thing though, is that these aren't suggestive or sexual kinds of pictures; they're usually of the realistic type, or if not, just pictures that show the genitals for accuracy regarding the anatomy, sometimes with sheaths showing in them as very simple line detours. Correctly portraying a feral character with their genitals isn't nowhere near suggestive or sexual by nature. It's the same thing as taking a photo of a RL male dog pet and have his sheath appearing in the pic. Just because it's there because it's a male, doesn't automatically make it naughty or sexual. But FA seems to think otherwise, forcibly changing General pics like these into Mature ones, and sometimes suspending users for that. Sometimes by pics they've drawn or gotten years and years ago, which is ridiculous. Even TaniDaReal has already been affected by this nonsense.
So like I said, I'm glad I'm already watching you on IB, and as a bonus, I can correctly rate my pics as General there without any issues at all.
I think anybody who has an especially strong opinion in that debate needs to empathize a little bit, and think about how confused they'd be if they uploaded a life drawing they drew of their pet dachshund in a benign pose, and it was flagged as mature -- or on the flip side, how they'd feel if their 4-year-old niece had a clinical diagram of horse genitals pop up on her iPad.
I'm glad there are other popular web sites which suit your needs, I think that goes for all of us. FurAffinity is a nice web site but maybe they can start being more respectful of artists, we'll see.
Thanks, this isn't a dead end for me or anything. Just another obstacle
It was a kids show here in germany.
The character itself is not a kid or baby.
It is not good to pretend to be all friendly and understanding.
I can see your anger, clearly.
You canΒ΄t be friends with the devil Sir.
You should migrate to some less regulated webplatform and never look back.
Its good that I have another account on another platform, keeping both up to date simultaniously.
I'm not angry at FurAffinity any more than someone would be angry at their milk for expiring. These things happen and you can either stand in your kitchen yelling at your milk or you can make positive life changes and move on to other websites. Life goes on.
I still get angry sometimes, but not about this. I was angry during a stream when someone was unnecessarily picky about the position of a character's arms. I was angry with a friend who compared my circumsized penis to a physical handicap. I don't hide my anger, but I don't anger easily. I am not angry about this, it's just something new to adapt to. I am active on 6 other websites. Furaffinity could disappear tomorrow; my art will still be elsewhere. I hope you follow me there.
here, someone obviously forgot to put the good milk back into the fridge of development.
and thats actually the reason why someone can be angry at this, not at the milk, but at those who made it went sour.
oh and I love to drink my milk freshly milked and creamy~ ;3
I bet even with circumstances, that milk would be sweet and creamy~
Have them unchecked by default if the age verification isn't enough of a barrier.
but, a short term solution is cutting artists a break once in awhile
Doesn't make sense to just NOW start getting onto someone about some picture made 30 years ago, why didn't they just warn right when it was posted? It would've been better than trying to ban someone for a reason picture back in 2004 or something. Sheesh-
Or they could've at least flagged them like said, we all know they could do it. They're just too lazy to point it out.
1) a pretty obscure character
2) who i drew exactly once
3) two years ago
4) who is canonically over 18 years old
5) by an artist who doesn't typically draw underage stuff (it's not like i have a secret InkBunny gallery full of cub art or anything)
I'm not saying leniency like, "ignore the report" or leniency like "let me get away with it" but maybe leniency like... don't suspend me for an honest mistake. I wasn't even negligent, I googled the character's age and read up on the show a little, I mean what else am I supposed to do? Am I supposed to watch every TV series and play every video game before I draw any characters in it?
Well, whatever, at least my next suspension will be less painful now that I'm coordinating commission stuff through InkBunny.
Dang. I was hoping that would be shorter. I wish you well.
I didn't really post this journal to try to enact change, but more just to let people know why a lot of my old pictures are gone, and let them know I didn't make this decision lightly. I censor all of my pixiv art, and that wasn't a decision I took lightly either, I did it because I was repeatedly reported for posting uncensored art. I harbor resentment for artists who do things like delete all of their old art out of spite, or delete their accounts to change their name, I think it's disrespectful to their fans to do so. I wanted to make sure people understood this was not something I did out of anger or did on a whim, I thought about this overnight and talked it over with friends and got assistance from my fans in selecting which art needed to be taken down. I think it was the most rational course of action and I hope nobody is angry at me for it.
Thanks for your kind words, it's good to know I have friends out there. I hope you continue to follow me elsewhere, even if I am some day banned from FurAffinity for inadvertently violating another rule
Don't know how I just now found out about this.
They've probably been on to you ever since you slipped up that one time
and posted cub art through PostyBirb.
