anxiety and eating
So I have a problem with food. Have for a long time. I'm realizing now in addition to all the other issues, when I am feeling anxious, even if I am not consciously aware, my body is VERY aware. Everything sounds disgusting and if I do convince myself to pick something, after three bites I feel totally full. My stomach does this really cool delayed digestion thing where I feel full even when I haven't had anything in hours. So I'm alive, sure, but in survival and starvation mode pretty much always. My brain is tired, my body is tired, and after going to work and dealing with people I am utterly exhausted.
Things I am doing to improve. Drinking water first thing in the morning, before coffee. Drinking more water throughout the day, slowly, to help the digestion. Also a lot of mint tea. Trying my best to avoid cheep fast food. Reducing my soda intake. Reminding myself that it isn't going to get better overnight, but that thinking about it and taking small steps is the only way to actually get better. Trying not to think of everything as gross... Man that part is hard. Fruit is cool. Thank you fruit, you keep me alive.
Shit is tough out there, but only one person can actively decide to make your life better, and that person is you. If I can stop eating my fingernails and stop sucking my thumb I sure as shit can figure out ways to improve my dietary needs. -slams fists on table-
Anyway, super personal hour no one asked for or ever wanted is over for today. ♥

I dunno if you're wanting advice but imma toss something up anyway - if you don't already, my doctor recommended me drinking electrolyte water b/c along with my anxiety I also have a stupidly low electrolyte count / low BP which can contribute to shittier appetites. I seem to feel a noticeable difference when I drink that compared to regular water - my body actually feels hydrated and refreshed and my stomach untenses.
Since I've been incorporated more of that into my diet, it's been easier to eat things when I know my body is telling me to (and I'm reluctant). The worst part is actually surpassing that first hunger stage b/c you push your body into flight mode - which can worsen digestive problems. (It's how I developed GERD :') )
Anyway ugh
Mega sympathies.
It seems like you're working on a good path on improving yourself, and I hope you see the light and some solace within it. Food shouldn't be our enemy if we're having to live here for so long lol.
Trying so so hard not to beat myself up for the stupid meal choices I have to make too. That and most things cost around 10 dollars if it isn't from a drive through. So I struggle to spend money, but promised myself I'm not going to feel bad about spending money on food cuz living and stuff... Now I'm rambling, but thank you for your input. I honestly wish we could hang out IRL and remind each other to eat things. DX
my dad and i both had problems with eating to calm nerves.
we kept it under control enough to not completely inflate.
he's long gone, and i'm still dealing with mine.
Sure wish food wasn't an issue for people. :c
mindfulness really helps, even if it's only sometimes and temporary </3
-also your icon is extra cute- DX
aaaaaaaaaaa thank you !!!!!
If you are comfortable with cooking or otherwise preparing your own food, it might help to look into recipes or to experiment with things you know you like, to find new and interesting ways of eating them and make it 'fun', if that makes sense. That said, I too am exhausted almost all the time, and cooking is An Endeavor, so perhaps even just looking into related categories of your favorites (say, fruits that are similar to ones you really like) when you're feeling on the less disgusted end of things would be cool.
I appreciate your feedback ♥
