Work trouble with a silver lining

So, recently, I have been applying for programming roles like a madman to no avail. I have had some interest but none of it has lead to work. They either hire someone older than me or just never offer me an interview or a test so I've had to go on Universal Credit in the UK whilst I look for work which is something new to me and something I didn't really want to do but, food and rent take priority.
I have however decided to pursue other stuff. I've decided to get back into 3D art which is what I used to do for work and I might get back into traditional art as well. I was never a character artist, more environments, textures, VFX, and lighting, but I might give it a shot sometime down the line.
I'm also looking into piercing apprenticeships in my area which is something I've been interested in for quite some time now, even since before I got my first piercings so that could turn into something pretty cool. I'd probably never do genital piercings because there's a lot that could go wrong, but everything else is fair game.
