thinking of getting a Cintiq
Ive been thinking of getting a Cintiq tablet lately, the cheaper one for like 600, but Im unsure if such an investment would be worth it. So if any of you have used a Cintiq what are your thoughts on it. Did it help your art? Was there much of a learning curve?
That kind of money dosnt exactly fall into my lap so I really like to get a good idea if its the right thing for me before I decide any thing.

I bought a cheaper brand called Yiynova for that price that was 19", it's certainly more useful drawing digitally having the screen is the canvas, as opposed to dissociate your hand's location where the mouse usually is while looking at the screen
plus it's more freeing being able to use your whole arm instead of just your wrist
if you do commissions or any freelance using the screen tablet, it'll eventually pay for itself
The tablet itself, works incredibly though. It's just the initial setup and errors I get from time to time on the software side.... Oh! And check the connections/inputs on both your machine and tablet before you purchase to make sure they're compatible. Wacom has some weird cord layouts.
I never did end up with one. Instead I opted for the $300 at the time, Intuos 4, and I ended up receiving a Motion Computing tablet PC as a gift a little while later. Currently I use a Surface tablet pc when on the go, and I still have my Intuos when I'm working at home.
As for the Cintiq - as Monkey mention previously, definitely check compatibility, it would be catastrophic to purchase something supra expensive, only to find it doesn't fit your configurations. Finding the right drivers can be a pain too, but that's all apart of getting a new peripheral.
Whatever you end up with, make sure you check the reviews as well as shop around - you got yer Amazons, Alibaba's, Ebays, and of course the ol' in person dinosaurs like Best Buy. Good luck MegaMan!
As a suggestion :)
If you do decide to invest, here are some good tips that will help. Get a Screen Protector AND a Drawing Glove. I can't emphasize the drawing glove enough. Without it, you'll be leaving smudges all over your screen and if you get sweaty, you just start to stick to the screen as you try to draw. Pay close attention to your posture. Switching to drawing directly on the screen means a big shift in posture as your eyes and head will have to tilt to your drawing surface. When I first got mine, I just tried to draw on it where it sat on my desk but I ended up getting terrible back, neck and shoulder pain since my posture shifted to hunching over my desk instead of drawing in my lap like I was accustomed to. Make sure you can accommodate the cable. The Cintiq has a proprietary cable that has display, USB and Power all in one and it isn't very long so you may need to change where your computer is placed to give you enough cable leeway to move the tablet as needed.
