Working on a new series and book 5 ... and some other stuff.
So things have been going well, all things considered.
Book 4 did well and I'm working on both book 5 and a new series. Should be fun.
I'm also preparing for life after corporate. The books have given me the sort of financial security I've been chasing all my life and I've decided that I will spend next year, and maybe longer, on the road. i can write from anywhere, after all, and while I enjoy time with my friends here locally, they've been my friends for a quarter century now, and they've kept through deployments and years of contracting overseas. Those relationships are stable.
I however, need a change of scenery. I came home for a stable marriage, not because I especially missed the place. Now that the marriage is over I really don't want to be here anymore, and let's face it, Texas summers suck and are nine months long. I spend at least four of those months popping allergy medication like Pez. I love my state, but I think I'd rather love it from afar for a while.
This is only possible because of the success of the series so far, and thank you for that, by the way. You have no idea how grateful I am to those of you who convinced me to put Mask of the Template up for sale and give this whole entertaining for a living thing a shot.
I put a down payment on an RV and am saving up so that I have a year or two in the bank in case things completely tank on me. I was looking at tiny homes, but I'm pretty sure those would be more trouble than they're worth for me right now. I might still wind up with one eventually, but for now I want something that's a little easier to pack up.
Probably won't actually leave until March or so, both because that's when the RV is slated to be delivered, and because I'm waiting for that corporate bonus. 15 to 20 large is nothing to sneeze at, and in the meantime I may as well sock away as much as I can before I take the long walk.
Thanks again everyone. I know FA is filled with journals about people desperately needing help and trying to dig themselves out of terrible situations. I thought I'd give you guys a little something different.
My life is awesome, and YOU helped make it that way.
Thank you.

I just sent the first round of audio edits back to Tess. I'm hoping we can get it out by the end of the month, but that'll be up to the folks over at Audible.
