Do Japanese mermaids known as Ningyo count? Or are they disqualified as cryptids because they are yokai?

I dont know what any of those words mean 🙃
Ningyo is Japanese, roughly translated it means fish people and is basically their equivalent of a mermaid. A yokai is a spirit, or creature born from the Earth or from the darkness in people’s hearts.
