Just curious , getting new PC
So i whas just wondering, since i am STILL looking for a newer pc ( i swear when i watch youtube vids am like oh i'll wait until that comes out to have a better one )
How often do you guys and gals change/upgrade your rigs??
Mine is like what seems about 6-8 years or so. I think this is my 3th one with ony a second screen ( huray for adapters ), still my first sound boxes , second mouse and meaby a second keyboard. My headset also a second i think and that one really is worn out.
Don't think i can upgrade and just gotta go full blown brand spanking new, case is small and everything is probably so outdated i am going to have troubles finding the parts that could fit etc. With this one i changed my GC and added a harddisk for more space ( god these steam games and updates just eat space like pacman ,same with blizzards ones )
Oh yea it also still has win7 XD
Also ,what would be a good idea afterwards for it?? Like it still functions even tough all my disks are in red and sutch. Meaby a storage unit for just works and reference pieces etc.

FA+

Indeed a 5 year cycle seems to be the magic number for having newer ones.
Hmm recently ,i would say like 2y ago since the old one sorta just went kaput. I bought this one to just keep going so it wasen't a very huuuuge upgrade plus the people at the store i bought it from said my pc then whas already old and outdated.
Hmm i woulden't say slow, windows is on an ssd. Just most games these days i can hardly run now and the latest i wanted to try i needed a windows 8.1 version as a minimum. Others like overwatch just make it scream just standing in the character select screen. Witch is odd as i played it before with no problems.
So yea, am aiming to at least play the cyberpunk game at high rez and sutch.
So mostly for better gaming quality but since i use blender now and then it's also helpfull for that since now a render is like 15min and the cpu, i think, shrieks like crazy aswel as looking in the vieuwports has it all grainy and pixilated.
All in all I have at least a couple more years before the MB and Cpu need updating if any...
Yea looks like it , problem is that those might upgrade over the years and if they do with big changes then those old parts don't fit on the new things. I believe i saw something recently with a power supply only using 8 pins instead of 12 and they had an exclusive MB for that since otherwhise it woulden't work. So lets hope thats not comming soon.
Also what cooling you have ?? Mine is just an alum fin block i think with a fan on that needs a regular dust blow out. The ones i look at have all these special big block coolers and some even liquid ones.
As long it aint 40°C outside i guess it can have cooler air XD
I'm currently sending money little by little to a friend that builds them to make me a new one!
That's all I know XD
He said that even in a year we'd only be updating a couple parts and they won't cost anything more.
I'll be paying for a bit XD
It's realy tought to pick or spend a decent ammount on something that could be used on something more suitable or neccesary.
On the other hand, i work my ass off , i deserve something awesome.
Plus am more of the plug and play person then spend hours trying to get the best deal on parts and put em together. Not that i can't , just afraid am gonna mess up with speccs and parts not working perfectly together and don't work at all in the end. So thats gonna be costly.
I'm using a Corsair sealed CPU water cooler and radiator block. I almost never hear the fans running though with rendering, I would think you might.
And if you're feeling adventurous enough to try Linux, maybe rebuild your old computer with a well-supported Linux distro.
I only had one all the time ,i've seen many with 2 to 3 ones. I honestly never needed that but i can see why as i alt tab a lot when am gaming in a dull moment and i think that fucks up something as i seemed to have been getting odd things happening lately. So one for staying in game and the other for looking up stuff aint bad or just watching youtube vids how to find secrets and finish lvls :p
Saw one on youtube , samsung odyssey g7 and 9 , those looks fun but mutcho € I'll think about it or just get a new one and this as the second.
I knoooow , i still get that screen popping up everytime to remind me :p I beleive i can't avoid it and just have to get used to a new os. Soon it's gonna dissapear like vista and xp plus there is gonna come new ones anyway.
Yea those seem to be popular and very usefull.
I'll try to look into that as i don't know anything about linux.
