Perhaps something both finite and also open ended. Everything the doc said coming to pass as things continued to spiral and didn't improve, but not ourtight talking about Maz's assumed ultimate fate.
Something to the tune of- "This was past the point of no return, from here it can and will only get more out of control."

We actually have something written up. We just don't know whether to show it to the public or not! Appreciate the idea though! It's kinda close!

No bad ending for me! I really enjoyed the story as it is (so far). I don’t like seeing characters die.

I can say for certain no one will die! Just a different ending is all, that just shows a different path, nothing fatal!

I'm not much of a fan of bad ends but if written well they can be good. I wouldn't mind seeing an alternate ending where he remains immobile but a little more healthy. Just a blob enjoying the company of his good friends as they hang out and game.

We have an ending already written but are just seeing if this is something we should keep private, but I like your idea! Thanks for sharing!

I'm all for it! It's always neat to see alternative routes in stories, and a good exercise for people who make them. It doesn't even need to be a "canon" ending either if ya don't like how it ends, more of a "what if." Plus, I'd be lying if I didn't want to see an even bigger Maz alongside the skinny ones, get in that *chuckles* wide range of body types.

If you’re seeking feedback, personally I don’t interact with anything with a bad ending, at least the bad ending that I can guess a fitness-to-wg story would have. That said, I’m not judging or shaming. Ain’t my cup of tea, but you’ll have an audience for it should you choose that route.

Not for me, I mean, the only bad ending I can see happening is having Maz die, and even though it's the non-canon alternate ending, it just cheapens the fact that Maz can just show up in the next picture, completely well like nothing happened. I feel there was already enough mood whiplash when the story was being posted as it was, and then you'd immediately post a regular "Fat Maz in a silly situation" right after a "Running From corpulence chapter where Maz is immobile and will die if nothing changes", so seeing an alternate chapter would have that kind of dissonance turned up to 11.

I'm one of those "If you kill off a character, keep them dead" kind of people when it comes to stories, and I don't know of any other "bad ending" you can give us that would fit in the narrative.

Unless the bad ending happens to someone else... but that also might be seen as a cop-out.

I mean, if you and plokishmok3 can still pull out another surprise, feel free to do so! It's just that the words "Running From Corpulence Bad Ending" just immediately makes me think of Maz dying and I wouldn't really be up for that particular ending, even if it is written just as well as the other chapters... Maybe just shoot for a different turn of events that aren't necessarily "bad"? There are a lot more things that could have happened to any of the characters, after all...

Maz will not be dying in this story. It will be something a little different that will more leave it open-ended for the reader to decide what happens. Nothing to worry about Maz not continuing~

Alright, don't know if I'll exactly like it, but I'm willing to give it a read once it happens (if it happens). I loved the original story enough that I'm writing a review on it, and an alternate ending will give me more to potentially enjoy, after all.

An alternate ending where he doesn't lose the weight would be interesting, especially if you guys find a way to pull it off right, but I don't know if it would stack up to the other ending and how much closure it gave us... Especially since you said you'd leave it open for the readers to imply what happens next.

While it was the more emotionally-charged post chapter 9 parts that got me really invested, and I started looking deeper into the story, I'm split on the idea of "What if this just continued for just one more chapter, and didn't get resolved", even if it is an alternate, what-if, non-canon chapter. Its existence won't ruin the ending for me, but at the same time I'll feel it as an unneeded addition.

Giving us an alternate chapter 13 (maybe even with its own epilogue) where he doesn't lose the weight and as the immobile mass as chapter 11's image shows us (or bigger!) might not going to give us a lot of room to work with to come up with our own endings. A lot of readers (myself included) are probably going to imply that he's going to (eventually) die of obesity-related complications just because of the pain he's going through in chapters 10-12. Not just the physical pain, but the emotional pain of failing to lose the weight, since that was possibly his last shot at a semi-normal life. That is... Unless you and plokishmok3 can find out a way to keep the open ending hopeful enough and lead the readers to know that he didn't just waste his last shot, and still has a chance to get a better ending, even if it is slim-to-none. An ending can be sad overall, but I feel readers might like one that has something to make it more bittersweet than 100% sad.

I mean, I'm not worried about Maz's state because, let's face it, he's your fursona and by extension he's granted a certain amount of immunity as such. Mazaku is going to be around as long as the real-life you is around (unless you make the decision to retire the character years down the line... but that's a tangent that's getting off-topic.)

... Ooops, I did it again. I wrote a small essay about the existence of an alternate chapter that doesn't even exist yet. XD

I understand completely what you are saying, and we are taking that into account. Maz for the most part is a very wholesome kind of character, but we have been tossing the idea of having a darker side to him. It is a lot to try and think about, but really this story for the most part was a new attempt to a story that we thought would be interesting and fun to make~

I think that if you want to explore a "bad" ending you absolutely should. Some folks may not appreciate it, which is fair, but I can personally say I would love to see something like that. I very much enjoyed the series throughout, but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't wondered about how it would have ended if not the way that it did.

Alright. Yeah when chapter 11 came around, I was worried about maz there. Worried that he’d die or so.

I’m curious as to find out what ‘your’ take on a bad ending would be, but I’m pretty happy with the current ending to the story at the same time. Maybe show it as like dream Maz has of what could have gone horribly wrong during the friend’s recovery. In the end, it’s your call to make.
