Does anyone own a Kindle?
Two journals in two days! Whoa!
I have been collecting all manner of ebooks from Project Gutenberg, Archive.org, and gigapedia.com. Most of the books I download are in the DjVu format, which is my preferred reader for my laptop, but I have the option of PDFs.
Does the Kindle support DjVus and if not, can someone tell me how a sample PDF looks? This one, just as an example: http://www.archive.org/details/japa.....homesthe00mors I must say, I cannot express just how ecstatic I am about finding a book like that. I am tickled pink about most of the old books I've downloaded and read.

lol ! :P
I dont think it supports DjVus, they might be able to convert it with there auto convert to kindle feature, but I've never tried. It read PDF's converted this way
according to the website Content Formats Supported: Kindle (AZW), TXT, Audible (formats 4, Audible Enhanced (AAX)), MP3, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively; PDF, HTML, DOC, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP through conversion.
I also my kindle. Best piece of tech I ever spent money on. :)
I'm currently reading a book with interior illustrations and they display beautifully; but it's an Amazon book. I'll check the pdf conversions. :)
Check out the alternatives!
I can't say anything specific or detailed, as I have never owned such a device. But I've seen store display models, and they're pretty cool!
You should have an e-mail address just for your Kindle. It'll be something like <Kindlename>@kindle.com. Send a PDF, HTML or DOC file to that address and it will be converted and sent wirelessly to your Kindle for 15 cents per megabyte. Or send it to <kindlename>@free.kindle.com and it will be converted and e-mailed back to you for free, but you'll have to plug the Kindle into your computer and copy the file yourself.
Or you can convert them yourself using a program such as Calibre http://calibre.kovidgoyal.net/ or Stanza http://www.lexcycle.com/stanza You'll still have to plug the Kindle into your computer and copy the books manually.
