Etsy and mah Soaps!
Hi everyone!
So I've been trying to build up inventory on my soap to be able to start up an Etsy and I just have no earthly idea what I'm doing with the site!
Do any of you guys have an Etsy or know someone that runs an Etsy shop that could tell me the pros/cons of having one? Is there a better site to use to sell handcrafted items?
On the plus side, I'm actually doing fairly well with my soap in the fact that I have had a few designs actually sell out on me just as I am making them and it has blown me away. I'm not complaining about that!
The only downside is that I do not effectively have enough molds to continue to make bars of soap continuously, so I am having to basically create 6 at a time and often I have to stop to take care of other things such as cooking or other household chores, working on art, etc. Again, I'm not exactly complaining I just have not gotten my feets solid on the ground just yet. I do eventually need to buy more molds just so that I have enough to do more than 1 batch at a time and get 12 bars added to my inventory instead of 6? Haha.
For any of you that may not have heard or seen my last post, I have been laid off from my full time job and I am making an attempt to start up a little side business making soaps! I am SO excited about it all and I really hope that I do well with it so that maybe in the future I don't have to work a full time job. I'm also thinking realistic in the fact that it may be a while before I can get to that point, but I am trying to think positive and in the mean time have fun and enjoy myself in what I am creating.
IF you have not, please do check out my Twitter as I have posted some of my soapy creations there and eventually I would like to offer some giveaways for my followers as everybody is awesome and I would love to give back to you guys. I have thought about creating a separate account for Twitter to divide my soap from the fandom just on a business/professional viewpoint but I have not gotten that far just yet. With Christmas coming in just a few short months however, I do need to start thinking ahead and preparing for potential gifts for family/friends.
If you guys happen to want to pre-order for Christmas gifts in the form of soap and you've checked out my Twitter (with only some of my soap posts), and you've seen what I've got on my Little White Lyes FB page, and you still haven't seen a scent or idea for gifts that you'd love to order from me, please please send me a message with your ideas and I will get back to you! I would love to help anyone out!
Also if you haven't seen it yet I do have a YCH currently available that I am working on now of 3 costumed characters. The only slot available left is the Mummy character and I will have to close on the 15th to give me appropriate time to finish the commission by Halloween so please do catch it while you can! https://www.furaffinity.net/view/38579996/

Shipping is made really easy, you'll need to know the weight/package size, and the sire will calculate the rest.
Listings are simple and they stay listed for a very long time with he option to have them relisted when it expires or sold (based on number you have in stock)
The only downside is it feels like there's a fee for everything you do, listings/relisting, fee for transactions on shipping labels, general % taken from you... It becomes a bit hard to keep track of at times, but they do give you a good overview of everything made and charged at the end of each month.
I'd still recommend setting one up though. It's fun
