-I don't give a shit what side someone is on... I have said this MANY times before. Left wing OR right wing! As long as they don't want to kill me for disagreeing with them.

-I have had to deal with oppression from the right AND the left, all my fucking life! And I mean on a legal level, not just "hurt feewings fwom bad wordses".

Nothing good comes from censorship of free speech and art. And I'd rather people rant and rave online and be allowed to say stupid shit all they want, as long as we can mock them for it, and they aren't trying to actively get someone killed of course. It is better than them going out in the streets and starting actual fights.

Though, expect for the far left to double down on their Orwellian censorship and bannings and make sure you have a way of contacting people you want to stay in contact with on other platforms and places, as the far left is even coming after the centrists and moderates with the same zeal as go after the right wingers, if not more.
I have been seeing a LOT of hate from the left for the center and independents and moderate (even on their side) because they can see and call out the hypocrisy and point out how often the left and right wings are on different sides of the same damn coin/horseshoe.
I've been more than a little 'Uneasy' with what Firefox has been up to (I'm nowhere near a computer/internet-savvy person, so these things are out of my comfort zone at the best of times).

I think Henley summed up the media pretty well almost 40 years ago. But in any case, spot on observations, I say. It all gets rather tiring. Heck, shut out 90% of my online contact with the outside world for most of January, and I don't really feel worse off for it.
I think one of the biggest wake-ups for me was when I realized nearly every network and newscast reads from the same scripts left AND right, to the point you can overlap them all on eachother word for word. I also found it interesting that the same elites that own most the current mainstream news media, own BOTH sides... Like Sinclair and Time Warner or Disney and such.
It is ALL meant to keep people addicted to the biased news and social media though fear, anger, and emotional manipulation.
Have people tearing at each other's throats over minuscule bullshit and those same people will not pay any attention to the elites running everything.
I think one of the most hilarious "Script flips" is with the far left wing suddenly going from "eat the rich" and "defund the police" to "Big private businesses should do whatever they want" and "we need more police!", and the far right wing going from "Back the blue!" to "Fu*k the police!" in less than a year.

I'm with you, 100%, about this idiotic 'Divide and Conquer' tactic being used (and used far too effectively, IMHO), causing so much societal strife/violence not just here in America, but hell, worldwide!
I have to disagree with you about the validity of some 'Extreme' degrees being necessary.
I'm technically 'Old' compared to the vast majority of folks in this fandom (will be seeing my 60th year on this spinning rock alltoosoon), so perhaps my age/experience has given me a slightly longer look/viewpoint on things? A great love of reading/history certainly helps!
I look at what folks are saying/protesting, on all 'Sides'. Left, Right, Center, and some WAY out in the Ort Cloud, they all bear merit of free thinking/speech and sharing it with whomever wants to listen.
Shutting down free speech? Banning/censoring people for merely talking about things, and NOT inciting a 'Call to Action' (violence), OR using language to promote racism/any form of hatred/bigorty towards others? No. Perhaps anyone doing such has earned the experience of losing some of their teeth for their stupidity? I'm gonna say 'Yes' to that!
So yeah, I see/hear/think about what's being said, and giving it its due consideration.
Then I make up my own mind based on truth, facts, and common sense.
That 'Degree of Extremism'? It does matter, and it does have a place in our world. I say that mostly from the stance of preserving our safety/lives in all things 'Self Defense.'
When someone with a different opinion/perspective decides to become violent against others? THAT is the moment I'm taking it to the extreme, with enthusiasm!
(If I may, I'll share this tidbit of personal history. I mean no offense to you/anyone here, reading it now. Just mine own experience with trying to be logical/rational/apply common sense in the face of stupidity, arrogance, and blind prejudice with some people)-
Being the youngest of four, and the only female, I think it's in my DNA to be a 'Tomboy', and that's exactly the Path I started this life on (in spite of all of Momma's efforts to 'Girlify' me!). I grew up literally scrapping with my older brothers, and anyone else that wanted to dance if that's their decision (to fight instead of reason things out)? Only once did I launch an attack at someone who didn't try to attack me first (physically). I justify that to this day by this other girls' (we were just-graduated from the 8th Grade, and about to enter H.S.), years-long campaign of terrorizing/bullying others, and getting away with it (the psychotic penguins and circular-door 'Fathers/Pastors/Priests' never did anything to put a halt to it), finally convinced me 'Turning the other cheek' and trying to be rational/reasonable with her just wasn't going to change her mind.
Getting her ass whupped in front of her friends, certainly made an impression! (to my knowledge, she never again tried to bully/harm my friend and others she'd been preying on since Kindergarten, after, so...).
I'm not proud of admitting this. It shouldn't have taken violence to change someone's bad attitude. Unfortunately, there are people in this world who will never understand anything else. That's just the way it is.
The key word is 'Self *DEFENSE*,' not being the initial aggressor.
I've now been forced to conclude that this govt. (BOTH sides of the Congressional aisle), Judiciary, and every 'Agency' that is our current Law Enfarcement, has become so incompetent/corrupt/traitorous, there is no saving it. Nice words and trying to use the 'Law' doesn't do a damned thing, because they're still going to do whatever the hell they want, knowing they are literally 'Above the Law.'
