Rosetta Stone is good for learning ANY language, dude! At least when you get a schedule going and have the workbooks and everything. Isn't quite as effective if you're not consistent about it.

Oh, assuredly you have to be consistent. I just can't quite find the right thing to get with it. I figured out that trying to learn to read it first is stupid- you learn to talk before you learn to read. So I think I'll look that up.

You have a PS3? I wholeheartedly recommend Little Big Planet. Despite what may seem like "childish" graphics to some (to me, I just find the idea of sack-cloth dolls running around on their own deliciously disturbing), the gameplay is far deeper than platforming usually is. And that's not even the biggest reason to play. Perhaps the best part of this game is the level of customization, and the ability to create your own levels using a variety of materials and widgets in a way that is both simple yet innovative. Anyone can pick up a controller and design their own amazing worlds using the tools at hand, a little engineering know-how, and the most basic laws of physics. The fun is multiplied a billion-fold through the sharing of levels online, as well as multiplayer both online and offline.

It is perhaps one of my most favorite and most fun games of all time.

I fully intend to pick up LBP, right after I find a copy of Valkyria Chronicles, and Demon's Souls.

LBP is very cool, yes. Tho do be warned that the ZP review was accurate in that it can feel a little insubstantial at times.
And I HEARTILY recommend Valkyria Chronicles! If you don't already know the plot, please, be careful not to spoiler yourself until you see it, both of you.
I'd also recommend inFamous. ^^ And RE5 of course, as seen below, tho perhaps wait for Alternate Edition. :P

I have a new PS3! =D It's good fun. Though the online service isn't as good as the 360's... But, it's free, so you get what you pay for. x3

I haven't had that many Xbox breakdowns in the whole time it's been out though. x3

I was thinkin' bout gettin a ps3... but I realized the only reason was because of Joker in Batman: AA. The only. My 360 hasn't RRoD'd in over... how many years now? 2? 3? Knock on wood.

I got my last desktop around the same time the X-Box 360 came out, I sold it to my best friend, but he's still using it and it's still going strong. (And was speced higher than a 360.)

Wait, the PS3 has games? since when?

In truth, it's built a really good library up in the last couple years, with about 30-40 titles worth having. Not all of them are exclusives, but that doesn't really matter. As far as I'm concerned it has effectively infinitely more games than my worthless 360, because despite me owning 50+ 360 game, I can't use them as anything but coasters since my 360 hasn't been functional for five months out of this year with yet another screw-up in MS sending the repaired console back.

This is exactly why I don't own a 360. Barring one friend, every single person I've known who has owned a 360 has had to go through multiple systems/repairs. Even my dad, who is a very casual gamer, has had to have his repaired several times. I like a lot of the games, but fuck. I bought a system to play it, not watch an empty spot of my shelf gather dust.

Also, on an unrelated note, if either of you dig S/RPGs, I'd recommend Disgaea 3. I got it for my PS3, and I've been very happy with it.

My multi-360 hit wasn't hardware failure.
Mine was security failure -- they were stolen from me when I was living in a transitional housing program.

I was teasing about the PS3 thing, but I do admit PS3 still had one of my favorite modern titles. I work for a local game store that has consoles set up, the store is on their twelfth 30 despite being open a year.

I'd heard good things about Rosetta stone, been hoping to get my hands on it myself and learn a few languages ^^ jeez, no clue why your xbox is breaking so often x.o I've had mine under near constant college frat boy abuse in my dorm and its still kicking.

2 games you should definatly get. ratchet and clank future tools of destruction. such rediculous amounts of fun on that one with all the cool guns. and the new batman arkum asylum not only is it a kick as game but its got one thing that completly makes it worth every penny MARK HAMMIL as the joker

What model of PS3 did you guys pick up? I dunno if the slim can have their hard drives swapped out, but even if they can't, they have a big enough hard drive to not really make doing so worth it. And I'm gonna have to add you and put some time playing SF4 under my belt, then get my butt thoroughly whupped by you ;3

Alas, I only have an Xbox 360 (which I only had to send back once for RRoD). But, I also have a PS2 and the best games ever for it! The Sly Cooper Trilogy. ^________^

Have a PS3 as well. MGS4 is pretty fun, though i've played it through, like.. 12 times, so i can't watch my friends play it, else risk back-seat gaming x.x But, instead of SF4, i went with Soul Calibur 4 :3 The ladies can even get a little kitty fursuit in that. Other than that, we got the new Batman game and FEAR, which is fun too. Feel free to add me :D

Well as it turns out, Rosetta Stone is actually pretty damn good so far if you set aside the time. It's a lot less memorizing vocabulary and a lot more sort of... demonstrating the language the way a kid would learn it.

As for the PS3, good choice, now that more games are being made for it, it's turning out to be the better investment. I also hear that Tales of Vesperia has recent;y been released in Japan for the PS3, and it's better than the 360 version, with extra content and stuff. So we should see a US release of that game for the PS3 pretty soon, if not already.

Ah, Rosetta Stone. S'pretty good actually, and this is speaking as someone who's had to fight their way through three foreign languages. Please note, I never said I was good at any of 'em. Well, if any were actually still spoken.
