Been about 7 years since my last journal. Yes, it's been that long. Pretty sure very few people remember me. So.. What's happened?
Can't fit it all here. It's been a wild ride, a vicious battle with my demons, a triumphant victory over depression, and a return to the workforce.

I don't expect more than a small handful of you even remember me, or want to. Fair enough. At least those of you who were curious enough to check, know that I'm healthy, moved on with my life and am so lucky that those that stood by me, helped me see what seemed like a hopeless situation had potential to become a positive opportunity.
I don't want to think where I'd be if I didn't have your support and friendship.

So, now, I'm excited. I picked my work for the spring, and my vacations for the entire year. I have the week during RF off, and have my registration taken care of. I'm going to my very first Furry con!

I must apologize for the time it's taking to do my practice sketch pet project. I had hit a snag with doing some digital touch-ups. With some excellent advice from  Hyokenseisou I have some new motivation to carry on and get cracking.

I have several sketches started, one surprise sketch started, and will start cleaning up line art shortly.

It's an excellent opportunity for me to improve my drawing skills, and for that I'm grateful to all of you who are participating.

I got a surprise this christmas, when I opened up my gifts. I got a 'Bamboo' tablet from santa this year, and it comes at a time when i'm experimenting with sketching. I've tried using it with paint shop pro, and it is an awesome tool. so much more control than mouse or touchpad. I cant wait to use it to try coloring scanned sketches.

Commissions are presently closed.

I am considering starting commissions soon, for fursuit partials, handpaws, footpaws, tails, ears, and maybe even fullsuits.

At present, I am peering over details of possible prices, policies, and time constraints.

Projected time frame for opening is forecast for some time after Christmas holidays, exact date TBA at a later date.

I recently began experimenting with latex paw pads to replace my original ones.

The first version of my paw pads were cut from felt and sewn on. Unhappy how quickly they wore out giving high fives and hugs, I began searching for something more durable. I found some soft leather, cut new pads, and glued them on to the felt. They were very durable, but looked kind of ugly after only a couple of washes. On to the next one...

Liquid Latex! Following advice about construction from Koisnake's livejournal, I made some pads. They turned out very nice. Attaching them was tricky. normals glues are too hard, and peel off the latex when it stretches. After revisiting where i got the latex from, and asking advice, it was suggested to use the liquid latex as glue, and some cautionary tips came with it.

Finally, after following tutorials, taking advice, and washing the paws, they turned out and held up great.

Man I love these things!

After a zoo suiting event and an awesome party for  morg (happy 18th), an upcoming bowling and impending epic furry meet, I think has put some colour in my face. What a wonderful bunch of friends I have!

It may not seem like much, but a few kind words helped. I am so looking forward to spending some time with the furs in a couple of weeks.

I guess the novelty of being a new fur has worn off. I haven't been online as much, made as many comments, or been to as many events as I would have liked. Even self doubt has started creeping back, wondering if everything is just going back the way things used to be.

I need to break free of this funk, and shake off the veil of vapidity.

If this week were a movie, it would be a documentary on the colour grey.

I missed Animethon. However, having said that, there's a BBQ coming up, i'll be going to see dinosaurs at the dome, suiting at the zoo, and who knows what else. Some furry bowling would top the list if it happens again soon.

I'll be happy to jump on this bandwagon, kind of an introspective challenge by  morg in his journal. hmm, let's see....

1. I can be a person of extremes.. Crazy highs, or crazy lows. Fiercely loyal, or stubbornly indifferent. I may keep my composure, or lose myself to emotion. Sadly, there's no middles.

2. I say what's on my mind, when I have something to say. I have tried to avoid this by saying nothing, but I always seem to give it away somehow. Not that I can't keep a secret, but if I feel strongly about something, I have a hard time keeping it in.

3. I call a spade a spade, white is white, black is black, and I have great difficulty with gray areas. (not hair related.) I am not one for symbolism or beating around the bush. If I think something is shady, two faced, underhanded or a bold faced lie, I will say it.

4. From years of public speaking with previous jobs, I don't usually have trouble talking to people I don't know. If I seem aloof, it's because I am observing. I have been hurt too many times to trust anyone right away, so I watch for body language, sarcasm, facial expressions and voice tone. If I sense any of this, I tend to stay out of a conversation. On the other hand, I love to be included, so listen for a thread of common ground to get involved in.

5. Sadly, I relate to music, movies and years of being babysat by TV. I too often quote things from movies, tv shows, and songs, that others simply don't relate to. I often think a whole conversation in my head, to be careful not to say the wrong thing, only to blurt something out when everyone else has moved on.

6. I can make a decision, but be prepared to wait a while. I over think the pros and cons, and if there are too many good choices(where to eat is a good one, or buying running shoes) you may be frustrated and make your own choice before me.

7. I always try to make friends. Sometimes, I try too hard, but believe it or not, I am quite sincere when I put my mind to it. Honestly, I have to say I haven't too many friends, most people I would consider acquaintances(people I am on speaking terms with), friends (people I enjoy being in the company of) a very few best friends.(people I trust completely, wish I could spend more time with, and love talking to).


Since others have only put seven up, I don't feel inclined to put up any more.(whoops) I guess 8 is lazy tendencies.

Lets see, where to start.. The Humane Society's Pets in the Park was a great success, turnout, support, fun, everything. I'm so glad I was a part of it, and even with the 27C heat was fun suiting. I may have to follow Raven's lead with the "ask before sniffing butt" sign. XD

My little man got to try on his suit, and loves it. As everyone that looked in Onyx's gallery has seen, he loved it and brought Onyx to life. He can't wait until there's an appropriate (all ages and suiting) event he can come to. Ever since he came bowling with the "big animals" he has been waiting for a time to hang with them again. Soon, one day.... *sigh*

The skunk I was working on is for the most part, Finished, and wearable. We tossed a bunch of names around, and My son picked Onyx. That kind of stuck for me. So Onyx it is. When the little man gets home from school, we'll get some pictures. He's so excited, he keep asking when I'll be bowling with the other animals.

I have just engineered a fan system for Innuk's head. they sit in the nose, use two small 12 volt fans, each with a nine volt battery, and two slide switches. They provide a nice breeze coming in just inches in front of my face. Not powerful, just nice, and for the most part, very quiet. It fits snug enough, that it can be removed, and stays put when installed.

Nice timing too, as next weekend's Father's day at the Zoo is expected to be a 24C Day. Good day for a test run.

Yap n draw was a success, and a fabulous time, surrounding me with fabulous furs. Topping off the evening was my fabulous new curly tail built by the fabulous  Tora_the_Maestro , and some random suiting by more fabulous furs. I even have a couple of furs starting some commissions for me (thanks  Sunder-Lane , Voice previously known as  TheOrangeFox )What can I say?! The night was Fabulous!!
