Viking Project - Komickrazi sale part 2 - Anthrocon Invasion
Posted 11 years agoBy now people should have seen at least SOME of the vikings from my Viking project. Ten viking wolves will be attending Rainfurrest next month for a Viking invasion, where we will walk the parade and get some photos of the group.

VIKINGS - Wolves of war!
Since Anthrocon's upcoming theme for 2015 is Vikings, it seems appropriate to re-open the viking project to invite new Viking warriors to join my army :3
Interested? Want to join my army? Read on.....
-What kind of suits will they be?
All of the suits will be fully clothed toony wolf partials. That's right! Not only do you get a partial, but you also get a full set of viking clothes to go with it. Partial will include: Head, Handpaws, Tail, Feetpaws and clothing. Digitgrade legpants and furry arm sleeves are optional.
-Are these identical suits with varying colors?
No! Each Wolf viking will be fully customizable. Fill out the order form (http://komickrazi.com/buildyouvikingwarrior.pdf), scan it and email it to me. It will give you an assortment of options to choose from to make your wolf unique, yet a part of the set. If you cannot decide what you would like, you may select the "surprise me!" option and I will decide for you :D
-How much will these suits be?
Each Viking will be $900.
Komickrazi Partials normally run at $1200,. Aside from a partial, you will also get a full set of clothes, a LARP weapon of your choice and some leatherwork made from REAL leather and hides. This is a great deal!
Ready to join my Viking army? Please read and follow the RULES below!
1) Contact me at devon[at]komickrazi.com with the subject VIKINGS!
2) Print, fill out and scan the BUILD YOUR VIKING WARRIOR form (http://www.komickrazi.com/buildyouv.....ingwarrior.pdf). Email the form to me as an attachment.
If you are having problems loading the form or are unable to scan it, please let me know and we can make other arrangements.
3) Identify yourself (link me to your FA account, deviant art account, Alberta furries member page etc.) so I know who you are ^_^
I am sure there will be a lot of interest, so I have to add some LIMITATIONS to my offer.... IF you cannot meet these limitations, I am afraid I cannot accommodate you in my Viking deal:
- you MUST be attending Anthrocon 2015
- you MUST wear your Viking and walk the parade with me at AC
- you MUST be willing to wear your Viking for a photoshoot at AC (time/day of photoshoot is TBA)
- you MUST put down a deposit of $100 to hold your viking. Viking NAMES/RUNES will be determined by who pays first (I'm sorry, but it's the only fair way)
- you MUST pay me the remaining $800 by November 2014
- you MUST mail me your DTD or provide me with requested measurements by December 2014 at the very latest
- No AC deliveries! You will have to pay additional fees for shipping charges for me to ship your viking to you
- you are limited to MY design.... Although the Vikings are customizable, please note this is WITHIN REASON. All of the Wolves will be NATURAL colors (brown, grey, black, white), all of the wolves will be partials or 3/4 partials (no fullsuits). If you have any questions regarding this, please contact me and we can discuss what is and is not acceptable.
**Due to the fact that LARP weapons will be included with your partial, I must INSIST on people behaving appropriately while suiting as a viking. If you are attending a con or other public place in the future, please be sure to READ the convention rules regarding weapons. LARP weapons may still have to be inspected by con security and peace bonded if requested. I do not want any foolishness or dangerous behavior associated with these vikings.... we're having fun here, let's not ruin it for everyone else**

Con Report - San Diego Comic Con
Posted 11 years agoBack from SDCC and rested up. Laundry is done and I am almost caught up on emails. Now I'm just procrastinating going back into my studio >_< Because that means the vacation is over.
Wednesday - Wooo! I have never gotten through security and customs so fast. My Hubby dropped me off at the airport at 8, and I was sitting at the gate at 8:13! Thirteen minutes to check in, go through customs and security. What luck!
I met up with
Silverhuskywolf and
wolfish42 We flew direct to San Diego (such a luxury) and grabbed 2 cabs to our hotel (sadly our dragons took up so much luggage space we had to do two cabs, as large cabs and vans were in short supply).
We got groceries and grabbed a shuttle to the con for day 0.5. The Pro pass line was long, but ultrafast. We had our badges in about 5 minutes. Inside was the usual madness. We attempted to by some things, but it seems everyone else had the same idea :P
Dinner was Mexican. So Yummy!
Thursday - I cosplayed in my steampunk faun, got a few photos but none seem to have surfaced on the net yet. We did our best to look at the vendors booths... maybe got through 2/3.
In the evening we attended W00tstock - a geek variety show run by Wil wheaton, Adam Savage, and Paul and Storm. Some of the acts were funny, but the music was hard to hear at times. We also had the misfortune of sitting on front of a group of drunk people who we repeatedly had to tell to STFU. I think I had to turn around 6 times with a look or a "please be quiet". Why the heck would you spend all the money to see a show, then get too drunk to remember it or ruin it for those around you?
I started feeling really sick near the end of the show.... heat exhaustion or dehydration or something.... I was really nauseous. With Silver and Wolfish's help I was able to get back to the shuttle bus and get back to the hotel unscathed.
Friday - Felt much better after a ton of water and some sleep. We skipped the con on Friday and went to the zoo. I love Balboa park, it's such a beautiful place :3
Silverhuskywolf and I spent most of our time in the zoo gushing over animals and going "Ohhhh... I want to make that into a fursuit". We're sad people.... please send help :P
We walked from the Zoo down to the con and did the Walking Dead Escape. An interactive obstacle course set up in the Petco Park baseball diamond. You have to run through the obstacle course avoiding the walking dead where you are encouraged to jump over cars and duck under obstacles to escape all the zombies. OMG, it was so much fun.... and so intense! Woo! If I did that course every day for a few weeks, I would be so ripped. It's like cross-training to the extreme. I am afraid I did not make it T_T I would have had better luck if I could have drop kicked a few zombies out of the way, but I don't think they would look too kindly on being abused :P
Saturday - We loaded up our dragons and headed to the con. This was a very relaxed day as the masquerade was in the evening and I don't like being too wiped before the show. We wandered a little to finish up the remaining 1/3 of the con floor we missed, then went back to the hotel to nap.
The evening was the usual mix of freaking out about going on stage and oggling the other entries. I love the masquerade for all the backstage eye candy. We spend most of our time looking around at all the pretty costumes and going "omg, that is so amazing", to which they reply "OMG, no, YOUR costume is amazing"
We won the David C. Copley Award for Most innovative costumes. It was an award I actually really wanted to win, so it was a huge honor. The representative for the award loved our costumes so much she took a selfie with us ON STAGE as we received our awards >_<
Sunday - The ONE thing I wanted to do at the con was wear my masquerade costume on Sunday. There is a rule in the SDCC masquerade that you CANNOT wear your costume in advance of the show or be disqualified. This means you really can ONLY wear your costume for the masq, then on the Sunday. Every year previous I have done the masq I have never worn my costume around the con on the Sunday, so I wanted to make it priority this year. There were lots of challenges (getting on the shuttle bus required a 3 point turn to back into a seat), but we did it. We were a huge hit. It took us 20 minutes to walk more than 10 feet from the shuttle bus as people kept stopping us for photos. Eventually we had to start counting down from 10 before moving on to let people know we were moving. It took forever to get INTO the convention center with it;s blessed Air conditioning.
We found a really great spot to stand int he Sails Pavilion with a huge fan to blow on us as we stood for photos. We stood there for over an hour as people just kept funneling by and taking photos. We also ran into a fabulous Daenerys and Missandei cosplay duo who stood with us for a long time. I was glad we were able to find our mother to take photos with us, :3
Monday - Back home again. The con was fun, but I did miss my hubby ^_^ Now I guess it's back to work as usual

Yes, I did get nutella all over my paws. I promise they were old and ready to be replaced. Once the video was over I threw out the paws.

Vikings! - DONE
Posted 11 years agoYus! All 10 vikings are complete O_O
Holy moley, I feel like I have been working on these guys forever.
At the sacrifice of my social life I've been finishing these guys up for the last month. They are done done done and I can get them off to their new owners :D Yay! My basement has slowly turned into a wolf den...It will be weird not to have all these furry pieces all over the place ¬_¬
Have I mentioned how wonderfully patient and understanding my husband is?

Achievement Unlocked - Yogurt!
Posted 11 years agoYes! I have successfully made yogurt :D
This last week has been a series of failures. My husband needs yogurt in his diet, but cannot eat dairy. So we bought a yogurt maker so we could try making some almond yogurt.
Once we got the machine, we realized how tiny it was... we are only able to make about 3/4 - 1 cup of yogurt per go and it takes all dang day to make..... so we really have to make EVERY day. Half the time the yogurt fails (not enough starter, contamination of the bacteria, bacteria death, ummm.... cosmic alignment out of sync?)
But! I found a recipe online for making yogurt in the crock pot. So I thought I would give it a go with some regular Dairy yogurt.... and lo..... I now have successfully made 4 liters of yogurt.
Now that I know it can be done I can try with the almond yogurt :3
Dear God..... 4 liters of yogurt.... I'm going to be eating yogurt for every meal of the day T_T

¬_¬ my car can be fixed, your sexism can too
Posted 11 years agoSo I have been having trouble staring my car. Sometimes I hop in my car and try to crank the engine, but it just won't turn over. This has happened a few times, which although wasn't a total disaster, was somewhat inconvenient. I was able to get it started yesterday, so I thought it best just to take it straight to Canadian Tire to have it looked at so I didn't have to pay for it to be towed if it happened while I wasn't conveniently at home.
I had done some research online and had narrowed down the problem to a few likely solutions. Although with some gumption and elbow grease, I could probably fix the darn thing myself ($10 says it's the distrubtor cap or the spark plug), I thought it best to just pay to have someone else do it... I just don't have the time.
My hubby had just come home from work so he came with me so we could walk home together once I dropped the car off. When I spoke to the fellow at the desk about my car he proceeded to book me an appointment into the system. Every time he had a question he would look at my husband who was standing behind me, then I would answer. He did this several times before finally my husband (who has said nothing at this point) replied "Hey, it's my wife's car, ask HER"
I'm disappointed that in this day and age car jockeys still assume women know nothing about cars. Yes, my husband is quite tall, so I guess he commands some attention by his presence, but really.... I went up to the desk and I spoke first and I answered all the questions. At some point you should stop looking at the man behind me and realize that I am the one who owns the car and I am going to be the one to give you money to fix it.
Not cool Canadian Tire. Not cool.
Edit: So Canadian Tire called me up and as I expected both the spark plugs and distributor cap had lots of wear and needed to be replaced. The fellow on the phone said I could inform my husband of the problem so they could get to work and fix it. I told him it was my car and I would be the one they needed to speak to ¬_¬

Fastest way to insult a fursuit maker
Posted 11 years agoFursuit makers are all different. We all have our own style which we have developed over many years of working and experimenting and practice. As I meet and talk shop with other makers, I have learned we all have our own techniques (some which are vastly different and some which are very similar). Most of our skills are self taught through experimentation over the course of our careers.
If you really want to insult a maker, ask them to make a fursuit that looks like like another maker's work. Nothing says "I really like ______, but their queue is long/they are too expensive, so I have settled on you" quite like asking someone to replicate a different maker. I understand that as you have shopped around you have found an assortment of things you like from one or many other makers, but telling a creative person that they are pretty good, but not as good as this other person will kill any desire they may have to make your suit.
Any professional artist worth their salt can take criticism. If there is something on your suit you do not like, tell them and they will fix it (this is why most makers provide progress photos!). But if you expect a maker who has spent years developing a style specifically their own to replicate someone else, they will not take it as a challenge.... they will take it as an insult that they are second best in your mind and they won't want to work with you.
And that's my 2 cents :3

Nerd problems
Posted 11 years ago:C
So I ordered some new glasses last week; I broke my clip-on sunglasses, so it seemed a good opportunity to get some of those glasses that darken when you go outside.
They arrived today, but they did not add the anti reflective coating I requested, so they're stupid reflective (Every light source and even my own eyes glaring back at me). I look like a super stereotypical nerd with fisheye glasses. ¬_¬
So now I have to wait for them to be replaced for repaired, which means I am back to wearing my old pair and having NO sunglasses. Sigh.

BLFC - con report
Posted 11 years agoPhew! I'm back from BLFC, and surprisingly still healthy. Due to not feeling great right before I left, I took it easy this con. I still had fun, but I didn't push myself.... took lots of breaks... went to bed at a reasonable time... ate relatively healthy food instead of only garbage. I was sure if I didn't get sick at the con, I would surely get sick once I got home, but! I'm on day 3 now and still feeling fine. anywho... on with the report:
Wednesday: Woke up stupid early and drove to the airport with my roomie
LoneTiggs. The flights were short and the connections were shorter, but we made it! >_< We had lunch and explored the hotel and hit wal-mart for necessities. There wasn't a ton of stuff to do if you didn't gamble. This really isn't a con to arrive early to... there's just not enough nearby stuff to tour/visit unless you rent a car.
Thursday: I had a bit of a sore throat when I woke up which was worrying. I shopped around in the morning then went to the spa for a pedicure. It was nice just to sit and relax for an hour and have someone rub my feet. I normally don't wear polish, but the lady convinced me to put on some green polish *admires toes* Hee hee!
I learned that the pedi treatment included access to the spa! I took full advantage and spent some time drinking juice and reading magazines, then hopped in the jacuzzi and sauna. I lay in the sauna for like an hour. I felt SO much better after, I think whatever I woke up with I sweated out of me.
Once I left the spa, reg was open, so I was able to grab my badge (woo! no line!)
I did suit a little, but went to bed early.
Friday: I went out to breakfast with
lonetiggs,
wolever, and
bloofox. Once we finished and got back to the hotel I went right to the sign-up for the go cart tournament. 15 minutes before the sign up was supposed to open, and there was already a line! I signed up, then wandered around the dealers area. I had a light lunch, then went out to the meeting place for the go cart tournament. We had to be escorted by security through the casino as we were not allowed on the casino floor with our heads on otherwise. Go carting was fun, but short. With 70 participants, everyone got to go once for about 5 minutes or so to ensure everyone got to take part. After my turn I chatted with people who came to watch the event :3
I took part in the dance comp preliminaries, so I had a light dinner. The prelimns were a bit of a clusterfuck... they wanted to rush through it, so didn't want us to use the music we sent them for our actual entries. I should have fought harder to use my music, as I was doing a musical number. Instead I got a slow awful song which was impossible to dance to T_T I didn't make the cut, but that's okay, there were SO many good dancers, I'm sure it was hard for the judges to pick.
I attended the dance, which was awesome :D Yay! 80's music dances are so fun!
Saturday: I did my
askmomomouse video in the morning. I only got some footage before my camera died. I forgot to bring my charger, so sadly I only had 45 minutes or so of video. I had to to the opening and closing once I got home. Still, the footage I did get was great. Thanks everyone who let me interview them!
http://youtu.be/cGPktBU3qBw
I returned my camera to the room, then returned to the con floor and played with some of the toys and props the con provided. I took part in the huge photo (but got lost behind some tall furs as usual... sigh), and walked the parade.
Since I wasn't in the dance comp, I went for dinner with a bunch of Alberta furs. We did the buffet, were we all stuffed our faces :d I did the dance a bit, but the music wasn't as good as the previous night, so I ended up chatting with people in the hallway.
Sunday: I got up late and missed the mini golf event. I took part in the fursuit games which were both fun and a little dangerous >_< I lost my handpaw during the musical chairs event and narrowly avoided crushing my fingers between two chair backs.
I played video games and built a dinosaur at the lego table. I had dinner with Pounce and
Beastcub. I didn't want to fullsuit so I just put on my head and paws. When I got down to the dance everyone was participating in a dance circle. It was so great >_< it started with just some of the more popular dancers, but by the end we were encouraging even the more shy people to take part. I wish I could do more dance circles! MORE!
Ah! Such a good time >_< I think I may have to attend BLFC again next year.

To go or not to go.... blfc
Posted 11 years agoFlight and hotel are booked, I'm leaving tomorrow.... but I'm starting to feel sick :(
My hubby has been sick all last week, no matter how hard I try, I usually catch whatever he's got. I was hoping it would gestate in my system and hit me upon my return, but now I think it's too late.
I really do want to go to the con.... but I don't want to be sick and miserable while I'm there.... nor do I want to be Patient Zero that gets everyone else sick. T_T
Since I only feel like I'm getting sick (sore muscles and tired), I don't really want to cancel - maybe I'll get better. I don't want to cancel, then somehow stay healthy all weekend.
Agh! I need to decide before tomorrow morning T_T
Stupid body!

Having one of those days
Posted 11 years agoT_T
Sigh..... yeah, it's one of those days.
I made burgers for lunch on our portable grill. When I opened the grill to see how the burgers were doing, the burgers stuck to the top and bottom of the grill so they all tore apart. I salvaged the bigger pieces and we had crumbly burgers for lunch. Bah, I guess we're making spaghetti sauce or chili with the remaining chunks I scraped off the grill :E
I finished repairing a suit for someone (apparently fabric empire's Polar bear red bleeds like crazy if you wash it: http://www.fabricempire.com/faux-fu.....-the-yard.aspx )
So a customer washed their suit and all the white parts turned pink! So, after taking the suit apart and replacing all the white panels, I thought I would give it a wash to make sure it didn't do it again - this suit had already been washed like 3 times, so it should have had no more dye in it. Apparently there WAS some dye left, so the new white panels are now pink. FFFFFfffffffff. Hurrah, I get to redo all my work AGAIN.
Blahhhhhhh... a day of suck means all motivation to do work has quickly drained away. *rolls around*

Furnal Equinox con report
Posted 11 years agoPhew! I am back from FE. I spent all of yesterday doing important things like laundry and grocery shopping, so now that that's out of the way, I'm back to work.
But first, I shall procrastinate and report on FE before crawling into mycave studio.
Thursday:
My flight was nice, I like not having to go through customs. :3 I watched Hunger games Catching Fire and Gravity on the plane. Gravity is even more fun when the flight has turbulence.
I learned (the hard way) that there are 3 Sheraton hotels near the airport ¬_¬ I took the tram to the WRONG Sheraton thinking it was a tram to the hotel shuttle area, so I had to take the tram all the way back.
I DID get to the hotel, but it took way longer than I had wanted.
By this time I was STARVING! I had plans to take the bus to the mall and hang around, but by the time I got to the hotel it was way too late. I went to the Chop steakhouse next to the hotel and decided to spoil myself, because I was too hungry to go wandering. I was invited to wait in the lounge where I waited for 10 dang minutes without anyone in the wait staff acknowledging my presence. I was so pissed off I just go up and left.
Now I was really REALLY starving, I walked to the next group of restaurants and found another restaurant called Canyon Creek steakhouse where I had a really lovely dinner and lovely service :3
After filling up I returned to the hotel and put on Momo and wandered around for a few hours.
Friday
I wandered a lot and chatted a bit. I eventually grew bored and put on Cash and wandered around. Later on I switched to Momo for the dance panel and dance competition preliminaries. I had to go first for prelimns, which was a little scary >_<
In the eve
Euro,
oneeyedjack,
falloutcoyote, and I went to Medieval times. We screamed and cheered for our Red knight so loud we were all pretty hoarse by the end of the evening. It was SO much fun :D I'd really love to do it again sometime.
When we got back to the hotel I was pretty wiped. I had planned on suiting up and attending the dance, but once I sat down on my bed I couldn't get back up again (sigh... old people problems).
Saturday
Momo day! I wore Momo on and off pretty much all day on Saturday. I did the fursuit games (yay Blue team!). Our Team won gold with a final tally of 14 points :D
I did the big fursuit photo, then walked the Parade with my favorite kitty
Flowkitty
After the Parade I had a quick dinner with
Flowkitty and her totally awesome grandma
Daha Flow, your Grandma is awesome :3
I watched the masquerade, then got back into Momo for the dance. Best. Dance. Ever.
Soldabat did an Electro Swing set which was SOOOO much fun. I LOVE electro swing so much O_O
I danced myself into exhaustion T_T I danced with so many lovely people too <3 I wish I could name them all, but after awhile when the sweat starts running into your eyes, it's hard to tell who is who >_<
Sunday
The morning started with the Dance Comp. There were 26 entries in the dance comp. I was #14, so I was right in the middle. I did a little choreo for All that Jazz from the Musical Chicago. That Dance floor was super slippery; I slipped once after a kick, but fortunately I didn't fall down :P
Video here:
http://youtu.be/FGuuDQZAcx0
I ended up winning Second place :O OMG! That was so exciting, and surprising! I really didn't think I would place at all, there were so many fabulous dancers there.
After the dance comp I went upstairs and grabbed my video camera. I spent an hour or so on the con floor filming and interviewing people for my blog "Ask Momo Mouse"
http://youtu.be/t7_a4cQ8YJM
I put on Cash after lunch, as I felt he had been a little neglected this con. I clopped around til dinner, then put on Momo for the dead dog.
The con had really thinned out at this point. Although the headless lounge was advertized to be open until 11, it shut down early, so suiters had to go outside to cool off. It was fun chatting with other suiters in our mock headless lounge. The cold wind which had been our bane during walks was actually a nice relief.
I returned to my room shortly after the dead dog ended.
Monday
I got up later than I had intended. I was going to get up early and go to the museum, but with the time change, I found I slept in a little long. By the time I got to the museum on the bus, I would have had to turn around and head back for my flight. So I decided to go to Yorkdale mall instead. I didn't do much shopping (malls are pretty much the same no matter where you go), but I had a really yummy Pizza croissant at a bakery in the mall :d
I took the bus back to the hotel shortly after and then took the shuttle to the airport to head home T_T

He told me the only time I didn't work was when I was at a con or out of town somewhere because it was the only time I wasn't close to my studio, thus tempted to go in and do a little work. I showed him, yessir. I took Saturday AND Sunday AND half of Monday off. Uh-huh.
Well okay.... I did put some labels on a box.... submit some photos on the internet.... answer emails.... stop off at the post office ... and hit the fabric store on my way to my facial (that's right, I had a facial *Temperance has gained +1 exfoliation!*)
But I swear that's it.
The entire weekend aside from that was video games, movies, anime, making cookies and eating waffles. :d
HA! I CAN take time off... and I only went a little crazy... I swear I was only tempted to work like 3 or 4 times ¬_¬
