Former Matriarch Zebelebala was the founding Matriarch of the yinglet enclave of Antenill, which itself is a young border town with few permanent residents.
The only female that the former Matriarch produced is the current Matriarch, Ickney, who has never displayed many of the traits traditionally required for a female, let alone that of a Matriarch.
While a Matriarch tends to require patience, motherly nurturing, vision, leadership, and wisdom (or the ability to make up believable lies resembling wisdom), Ickney was always more fond of joining the hunting parties, exploring, and playing with (i.e. terrorizing) the boys.
Almost a year into her new position, the area experienced a particularly bad drought, followed by a shortfall of foodstuffs; this attracted many travelling merchants from neighboring areas, many of whom have used the locals' need of food to charge unreasonable prices.
Cairo here is the recipient of their frustrations, despite harboring no such intentions.
This is the first page of a five(-ish) page comic commission for
ArmoredKangaroo, which I'm going to be having a lot of fun with!
Consider it a semi-canon side story to The OOPs; I'm looking forward to showing off some bits of the setting that the main storyline might not be able to, at least anytime soon.
Take, for example, the yinglet younglet. They're all poofy like that in the first few months of life. They're also almost all that loud and excitable.

Nah, they're equally as dumb! Although the females, being kept inside and given the best food, clothing, and "education," tend to have just a little better idea of what's going on.
On that note, Vizlet would sooner burn down the entire Val Salian enclave than leave Zally in charge.

Acting like they own the world just because they sorta do

A day in the life of a Yinglet Matriarch, perhaps not the best of days for this particular gal. I love the young yinglet, really got the expression of youthful exuberance and a particularly empty mindset. And the questioning, oh yinglets must ask so many questions as such I can see how they could wear thin after awhile.
I am curious do yinglets reproduce with a live birth or do they lay eggs? Also how common is such a mindset for a female yinglet? To hear of a yinglet who isn't quite so afraid of the world around them, I can't help but envision a party of adventurers with a yinglet as part of the team. And if that yinglet was female then all the attention she must garner with yinglet populations they meet along their jouneries.

Oh yes; much of a Matriarch's competence is determined by the things they know (and/or how good they are at making stuff up).
I'm going to be shedding some more light on the yinglets' reproduction cycle soon enough, but I'll spoil that it's pretty close to egg-laying.
As for curious enthusiasm, yinglets tend to have a whole lot of that (but are also quick to become startled), which results in a high casualty rate but also gives them some major gains. More specifically, they're very vulnerable while alone, but they can get dangerously brave and reckless when they're in a group. Most females do tend to be very sheltered and insular, but that's most often because they're so rare, and thus important to an enclave's survival, and are therefore raised to be rather docile.
Obviously, it doesn't always work.

Understandable that they would be well protected by other yinglets.
How well do you think a yinglet could do if part of an adventuring party? I am also reminded of your Yinglet Princess tower girl, do yinglets fall for beings other than other yinglets? And if they do how do the rest of yinglet society react to seeing such couplings?

I read through this short spin-off before, so I can already say I love it. I especially like the name "Zebelebala." Try saying that ten times fast.
What I like that you did was change the design of the younger yinglets in your main comic from this one. The one featured here, while it isn't bad, simply looks like a miniature adult yinglet with a poofy chest. Most species' young look quite different than their adult counterparts until they actually reach that age.
