Is it sad that it wasn't until I wrote the word on the first image that I realized that an island you can only get to from the USA just happens to have the letters 'USA' in its name? I swear it was unintentional. I was just doing the "pick 2-3 sounds, smash them together. There you go, a name for a place." Anyway, a bit of information about the island itself. For pronunciation I've been calling it yoos-eyl though I guess yoo-seyl would work just as well. There is some information I don't want to say here because it'll be stated in the opening bit of the comic proper starting next year. But some that won't be that apparent unless you think about it. Every human in Usael can become a pokemon. Every pokemon can become a human. The rare candies that turn people back into a human form work on any pokemon, not just the Called. This is why the population numbers were given that asterix.

Most pokemon have ordinary jobs. Usually this will play into what that pokemon would be good at naturally (electric types working in a power plant, grass and water types in agriculture, fire and steel types in manufacturing, etc.) but not required. The currency in Usael would still be the Dollar, though what form it'll take i don't entirely know. It's kind of awkward trying to figure out a form of currency that will be easily handled by small pokemon without hands like Ratatta or Dratini, still usable to humans and also still can be handled by larger pokemon as well. Now as it has no ability to trade directly back with America, terminology will translate over (calling $100 a Benjamin, etc.) but they would have their own mint for money and an economy that will set its own prices.

In effect, Usael is designed to be just an ordinary place where most people are just ordinary people who have turned into pokemon and keep going about their lives rather than like most games where the entire world seems to revolve around the profession that the main character is engaged in. That isn't to say that what the Called are doing isn't going to be important and things will adapt around their presence, just that Usael is far larger than the Called and most will still just be going about their lives without anything to do with the Called.

You know, originally I was going to have the pikachu ride a bike. But then I realized that as an electric type it could very easily just take a modified RC car and use that as a vehicle instead.
