Pokemon Usael- Setup Class System
Sort of ran out of initial idea for setup comics, but I still have room for 7 more setup pages and still get the remaining 10 characters from the main two starting teams. So is there anything y'all want me to go over?
One quick note to start: The censor bars are there due to spoilers. It's not a major spoiler and is revealed fairly early on. But I still felt it would add to the story if the audience had as much of an idea on why they were called at the start of the comic as the characters themselves. As for why the Called are being represented by a giant bell is going to be very obvious once the main comic begins. Why they're being represented by the bell and not how everyone else in Usael will recognize them as the Called, well that's a pretty massive spoiler that I won't get into. Just know that that bell is very important and that when it finally makes an appearance I'll probably do a Blender 3D Render of it to give it just that much more gravitas.
As for clarification on the page itself. One of the biggest impacts on how I'm doing stats is that everyone in the country is following by the same rules. Granted, because of skills I get to fudge some numbers upwards in response to make some encounters harder than others, so people more capable of handling themselves, etc. without having to create two sets of rules. But because of the massive jump in stats when a pokemon evolves, that means that any pokemon that can't evolve is put at a massive disadvantage. Their skills develop slower than others and have a lot harder time in the grand scheme of things. But as mentioned it isn't so much of the Bound being second-class citizens as when debating who to pick, if there is a Bound and Unbound applying for the same thing and they are fairly even in capabilities, the Unbound will be chosen every time. This creates the odd disparity in that someone turning into an Arceus or Celebi or Suicune would actually be considered inferior to a Ratatta or Pichu or even a Jigglypuff.
Since the Rare Candies are fairly expensive and reduce their capabilities it is only natural for being human to be seen as a status symbol for the people of Usael. And actually, to counter the stigma of being Bound, a large portion of the humans are actually from the Bound class who then make sure to do whatever is possible to remain human. These make for some very ruthless practices amongst the Bound humans while some of the Unbound humans treat it as more of a luxury or a vacation from themselves.
Though I guess one final quick note: Will I be employing Plot Armor for the characters? Sort of but not really. Losing does not usually mean death. So when their lives are not on the line, I will not be providing any Plot Armor for anyone. Honestly, it doesn't even matter to me if Team 4 loses the final and most important event or even if they fail in the ultimate task assigned to the Called. I think it'd still aid the story to go over what happens even if they fail. However, in a situation where complete failure would result in the death of someone from Team 4 and for the most part Team 13 then there will be some plot contrivance to keep them alive. Team 4 is effectively immune to death. Team 13 will only have someone die if it would have significant impact upon the story. Beyond that, anything goes.
