As much as it is rather relaxing to be a bit away from the crowds there is a part of me that feels like I’m missing out on way too much of the festival. But I rationalize that for the most part the whole point of the festival is just to have a night to enjoy the turning of winter. We have all night to enjoy ourselves and provided nothing goes wrong will likely be here until an hour or two before sunrise. The snowball fight in the distance wanders and I’m forced to duck under an errant snowball. Feeling no interest in participating in the fight myself and not wanting to be dragged into it I nod and stand up. I don’t intend on just going back to the crowded areas just yet, but we should at least start moving again.

About a block away I start to hear some shouting. I quickly glance in the direction of the shout, wary in case something is going on that I need to address, but for the time being it seems to only be a couple of humans heading in our direction. They are waving fairly energetically so clearly trying to get someone’s attention, though I’m not sure if it’s ours or someone else’s. Also still unsure of what purpose they have.
