CHAPTER 46

Meanwhile, Natany and Rhealle were taken to the police infirmary to be examined for injuries after their encounter with Faise, as per protocol. As the Chakat medic checked them, an incoming call on her PADD forced Natany to her feet. One of her colleagues at the scene of the accident told her what happened. The Renzar's breathing began to agitate.
"What's going on!" Rhealle inquired as she saw a shocked Natany.
"Esteban and Lilethe had an accident on the route to the north of Amistad"
"Oh! By Grom! And how are they?" Rhealle inquired, getting up as well.
“Lilethe is in the hospital unconscious. Esteban is missing!
"Oh no!" Rhealle exclaimed in concern.
"I have to go to that place" Natany said with determination.
"Wait, you two! You can't leave yet. I haven't finished examining you two,” the Chakat medic said.
“Boast! They are part of my family! I have to go!" Natany claimed.
"We must follow the protocol, Natany!" The doctor insisted. But at that moment, Rhealle had already changed into her uniform and headed for the exit.
"Alard... We're fine... Put that in your report!"
"What do you say Rhealle!" protested the annoyed chakat
“Sorry Alard… Examine us later. Goodbye,” Natany said as she followed Rhealle out of the room.

Although the sky was still gray in the city, the rain had abated. At the Amistad hospital, Sorah was sitting with Hajo in her arms in a waiting room. In her chest, she felt an inexplicable and strange heaviness. A growing anguish began to seize her and tears were not long in coming out of her.
"Oh my dear children... why did this happen?" She thought to herself. Little Hajo, looking at her tenderly, caressed her face with her little hand. Sorah hugged him tight, trying to comfort herself. At that instant, the door leading to the hallway opened. The female rose to her feet as she watched a pair of Renzar approach her.
“Dolkun Patriarch!” Sorah said surprised.
“Hearing this morning on the news, I called Chief Trend and he filled me in on the details. I'm so sorry, daughter" Said the Renzar greeting with a hug. Behind him, a black-furred female stood there looking at them both.
"Sorah... There is someone who wants to greet you" The male said with a calm voice. Sorah, looking closely, couldn't help but be moved when she recognized that renzar.
"Mother! It's you?"
“Oh…Sorah! My daughter!" Varta replied with tears in her eyes. They both hugged each other passionately. Then Varta took Hajo in her arms and looked at Sorah."
"Is he my grandson?"
"Yes, mom... He is Hajo."
“I told you, Varta. He looks a lot like you ”Dolkun said in turn.
“Oh by all the Grom deities, he is so beautiful! Daughter, I am very sorry to find ourselves in such difficult circumstances for you. I'm sorry about what happened this morning. Two hours had passed since Regthar and Greden arrived at the crash site. Regthar sat on the edge of Trend's police vehicle as he watched the rescuers work. Despite the fact that the rain had already stopped, a strong wind was buffeting the rugged area of ​​the coast. Regthar was silent, staring blankly as Trend placed a hand on his shoulder. Suddenly, everyone looked up at the sky as they saw the silhouette of a cruise ship suspended in the air in the distance. Moments later, those present were shocked to see a group of ten Renzar appear in front of them by teleportation. Some were equipped with special suits for submersion in the water, while others carried sophisticated remote tracking equipment. The group leader approached Trend and the Chakat salvage chief.
"Greetings. My name is Cors Taruk'Nat. We are part of the planetary delegation of Grom, which is currently in Chakona. The Planetary delegate sends his greetings and his message of consolation to the family of Mr. Regthar Sivem. Me and my team, we put ourselves under the orders of the rescue chief to collaborate in everything that is necessary."
Trend and Chief Chakat greeted cordially.
“Splendid Mr. Taruk. Thanks for helping us. Please have your people join the search efforts immediately” The chakat said, wagging its tail.
["You come from Grom's Planetary delegate?"] Regthar asked surprised.
[“Mr. Sivem. Chief Trend. Patriarch Dolkun informed us of what had happened and the delegate ordered us to collaborate immediately. Esteban Sivem, being Renzar's adopted son, is also a citizen of Grom. We will do everything in our power to help your family”] Taruk replied. Regthar, moved, hugged him tightly.

Chakat Rockshie, after several hours of sedation, had woken up and the police managed to get a first official statement from hym about what had happened. Trend, along with Natany, Greden, and other colleagues returned to the headquarters, while Rhealle volunteered to stay with Regthar and the rest of the team at the crash site.
After a short ride in the police vehicle, Trend and his team arrived at headquarters. Chakat Joel, Greden and other policemen were there. Joel requested a private meeting between them in the boss's office. Once there, the chakat installed a small holographic device in the middle of Trend's desk.
"Well, what can the witness tell us?" Trend asked, impatient.
"Boss. Chakat Rockshie declared that all the chakats present in that place were acting under the mental control of this Faise Skunktaur, including himself and Lilethe. Despite the fact that Shi was somewhat drunk, like everyone else at the party, Shi was able to free hymself and realize the situation. Shi also related that Lilethe freed hymself and tried to run away with Esteban. But Faise regained control over hym and ordered hym to stop it. Later, the victim stated that she struck Faise, knocking hym unconscious for a few moments, and tried to wake up the other chakats. It was there when Lilethe and Esteban fled the VTP of the skunktaur. But Faise came to hys senses and controlled everyone again. Hy attacked Rockshie with powerful telekinesis leaving hym as Natany and Rhealle found hym."

I'm sure the feds will ask for discretion on this. And we also don't want skunktaurs to be looked down upon by others, because of this wretch. Therefore, I order EVERYONE to act with the utmost discretion, without revealing anything to anyone. And that includes you, Natany.
"But Regthar and Sorah have a right to know!" the female protested.
“I'll take care of that… You already have your orders! Is that clear?!”
"Yes sir!" All those present responded in unison, while they fanned out around the police station.

That night, at the Amistad hospital, Chakat Lorna volunteered to keep vigil and wait for word from Lilethe, allowing Sorah to rest at home. At the Renzar home, his closest friends and some neighbors gathered. Rena, Hesper, Holly and little Cora and Teo. Relia was with them too. Chakat Lorel and hir clan took care of everyone. The renzar Ulk and Sachi, Dolkun and Varta, were also there. In the garden of the house, Regthar was downcast and sad, for not yet having positive news from Esteban.
