They have us line up with a human getting ready to count us down, starting at a very high number to try and draw up tension. But if nothing else it gives me time to try and strategize. I’m not a professional racer so I’m guessing my reaction time might still be a slight bit slower than some of the others at starting right on time. The bigger issue is that I am much smaller than all of them and not only would I have to go about trying to dodge all of the limbs to make sure that I don’t run into anyone but also make sure that there is no sense of attacking once we start getting to the other turns. A plan starts building up in my mind on something that I know I can do, something that I’m also reasonably certain that the others won’t be able to do even if they wanted and that would help me navigate the turns. It’ll mean a bit rougher landings but on the other side of things I won’t have to slow down any to make the turns due to momentum issues. Either way, it’ll certainly be fun. I crouch down a bit more when the count gets very low and the moment the arm starts going down we all dash off.
