P3: What a Dog…
We shall now turn our sights to the Forest Area. Within the dense Forests, there exists many secrets. Most of these secrets are already known, while a select few secrets are spoken through rumors. There are, however, secrets that even the most elite Employees of Duel would didn’t know about quite yet. Trina, however, was looking one of the former…
Her years in training for gymnastics was useful for keeping out of sight. Being a cat fur gave her an unfair natural ability to walk quickly and silently. Even her cat eyes would help her find her elusive targets before they ever had a chance to spot her. Or at least so she thought. She wasn’t having any luck finding a single stinking ninja in these forests. So far the only thing she managed to catch was several twigs in her long hair.
Sitting down on a provided bench along the main pathway, she began to comb her hair out. She huffed at the difficulty it took to get the blasted pieces of wood out. One leaf even got caught on one of her nails.
“This is not as fun as I thought it would be,” Trina sighed as she leaned on her knees, “I probably should have stayed with Arthur in the Secret Village.”
Trina flicked the leaf that got caught in her nail away. This was not her best day. You’d think finding a Ninja here would be easy. What did she have to do, act like a damsel in distressed? Trina sighed, knowing she would never stoop that low.
“I guess that I better call it a day,” Trina slapped her knees before standing back up and making out the route to the Secret Village. (She already found it and Shien’s Castle like six times.) When she was far enough away a blue and a black ninja poked their heads out of the bushes.
“You think she’s really giving up,” Armed Ninja asked his buddy.
“I hope so…,” Vengeful Shinobi sighed, “that chick’s a freak.”
“And just what is that supposed to mean?”
The two ninja felt chills run up their spines. The shinobi that stood behind them was Nin-kin Dog. The two of them were already in trouble with him from before. It wasn’t just for the fact that the dog fur was naturally taller and stronger than both of them. The two of them didn’t take their jobs as seriously as they should have. But even then, the two had also made a very speciesist comment recently. Something about how Furries were ‘creepy’.
“Well…,” Nin-kin dog tapped his foot.
“We just meant how she was zooming through the trees and stuff,” A. Ninja shakily turned around mirroring V. Shinobi’s actions.
“Yeah she’s got mad skills, yo,” V. Shinobi mimicked a rapper jokingly.
“You can’t even stay in character,” Nin-Kin placed a hand to his head, “that ‘freak’ is doing your jobs better than the two of you combined and she’s not even trying.”
The two of them lowered themselves in shame. The ninja dog was looking on at the female that was leaving. It took real training to do the things she did. She was graceful, quick, beautiful… Nin-Kin coughed into his hand before he continued.
“Perhaps I should see exactly how good she really is,” Nin-Kin stepped forward to shadow the cat to where she was going. This left the remaining ninja wondering what had just happened. Wondering questions like ‘Where they fired or not’, ‘how can he be such a hypocrite about being in character’, and ‘is it really alright for him to just walk behind her like that?’
“Let’s see,” Trina thought to herself, “Was it left at the oak tree or the elm tree. I do not want to wind up back at Shien’s Castle by mistake.”
“Ruff ruff!”
“Oh no…,” Trina quickly turned around, “Rocky, I thought you were… hm?” Trina blinked as she didn’t see her friend behind her. There wasn’t anyone behind her at all, “I could have sworn that.”
“Ruff,” a small brown dog barked at her feet, panting happily. He oddly had no tags, but reminded Trina of a card that Bobby had slipped in her deck. Especially with that hankercheif and bone dagger.
“Wait,” Trina looked closer, it was that Duel Monster, “you’re a real-life Shiba Warrior Taro!”
“Ruff Ruff,” Taro happily wagged his tail.
“I wonder,” Trina lowered her hand under the dog’s muzzle. The dog looked at it curiously before sniffing it and licking her hand. She took that as the signal that the dog was at least friendly, even if it was just some programed robot or something like that, “sure are a cute little pup.”
Taro growled in response. Trina rubbed the warrior dog’s head. He stopped growling instantly.
“Oh and I suppose you’re full grown then,” Trina blinked, before sighing, “Great… Now I’m talking to you as if you understand me.”
“Rrrrrrr,” Taro rubbed his head under Trina’s open palm, asking for more attention.
“Oh alright,” Trina obliged the dog’s wishes a little longer, “You remind me of a friend of mine. He constantly wants attention too.”
“Rur?”
“I wouldn’t even be able to come to this park if it weren’t for my friends.”
“Urrowl?”
“Seriously,” Trina nodded, smiling at her new little friend, “I worked a double shift for two months when I heard that our senior class was coming to Duel World and it still wasn’t enough.”
“I never knew having friends would make me so happy,” Trina rolled on and on about her friends. Telling the strange dog about them. Taro was extremely happy to find that the friend that he reminds her of was a rottie, but a little disappointed at the fact that she kept going on and on about Marshal especially. Still, he wasn’t that troubled for long. Trina’s constant helping to babysit Rocky taught her all the right spots to render Taro paralyzed in bliss. After a few more minutes, Trina got tired of petting the dog.
“Oh, look at me. I’d go on a murder spree if any of them saw me like this.”
Taro didn’t know if she was serious or not. He didn’t care as his ears were his weak spot. It made even a bloody murder spree sound like a merry walk through the park out of a musical. He sighed contently in response
“Well, looks like I found my ninja,” Trina sighed, not noticing that the dog had stiffened up, “Too bad it’s one that I can’t duel against.”
Taro stretched himself out and walked down the left path. He turned his head and barked once at Trina.
“You want me to follow you,” Trina received a nod from the Shiba, “well, I’ve got time to kill.”
“Check out my fantastic dueling style ladies,” Goe Goe the Gallant Ninja posed for the small audience that had gathered around to watch the duel that he had just finished. The loser, a male Chinchilla fur, was still shuttering from the fact that he lost to such a weird guy.
“Dat’s wight,” a fatter and dorkier ninja stated as he presented his fellow ninja as a if he was the flashy ninja’s biggest fan. He probably was by the way he was acting. No one could only be “acting” like that THAT well, “Da gweat Goe Goe da Gallant Ninja is da gweatest ninja in da world! No one can beat him! He’s sensational! He’s stupendous!… and humble too…”
“Well, I’ll agree about one thing. He is stupendous,” Trina whispered to her canine friend, “just without the ‘n’ and ‘ous’ parts.”
“Ruff ruff,” Taro nodded, having been picked up by Trina at one point. He was surprisingly light for a dog his size, real or not.
“Who else dares challenge da Gweat Goe Goe!”
“I’ll take a whack at ‘im,” Trina raised her hand.
“Oh, please,” Goe Goe stroked his hair back, “a gentleman never fights a lady.”
“Do I look like a lady to you,” Trina put back on her tough girl attitude before dropping Taro back to the ground, “I may be a girl, but I’m as tough as any one of the boys.”
“I still wont do it,” Goe Goe crossed his arms and turned away, “it wouldn’t be the valiant thing to do.”
“That’s cause you’re scared that I’ll beat you.”
“The gweat Goe Goe is not afwaid of anyone,” Goe Goe’s sidekick announced, “but he has a code of honer dat cannot be bwoken!”
“He’ll duel me or I’ll beat him to a bloody pulp using you as a baseball bat,” Trina snapped her tail flaring out, claws in the ready.
“………,” Goe Goe coughed to reconstruct his composure, “let the duel commence.”
“But boss,” the sidekick was shocked at Goe Goe’s sudden change.
“She said so herself that she is no lady,” Goe Goe raised his hands into a handsign. In a puff of smoke his duel disk appeared on his arm, “so I might as well humor her.”
“Finally…,” Trina loaded a Deck Cell on to her watch, it stated, ‘Death of Fortune, deck loaded’ as she walked towards the field that he was using, “you better be worth my time.” Taro took a spot next to the sidekick on the sidelines. He barked once to greet the fellow employee. The sidekick took it as an insult saying, ‘us dogs got to stick together, huh?’
“Oh my,” Goe Goe acted as if he was concerned, “Seems like you don’t have a-”
“Holodisk Accelerate,” Trina spun the wheel connected to her watch. It reformed into a disk that resembled a bat’s wing. Her holographic cards shuffled and drew her first hand out, “oh were you saying something? I couldn’t hear you over activating my Duel Disk.”
“Never mind,” Goe Goe readied his Duel Disk and drew his own hand, “Ladies… Excuse me, Guests get the first move.”
“How very nice of you. Draw,” Trina quickly slashed the card to slip into the holographic hand in front of her, “how to play this out? I’ll start by summoning, Fortune Lady Light in Attack mode. Plus two cards Facedown.” A golden colored witch spun her way onto the field. She had huge bat wings sprouted from the back of her head, but she used her syche-like wand to stay afloat. (200 ATK) Two facedowns appeared behind her.
“Ah a Fortune Lady Deck for the not a lady,” Goe Goe teased a little.
“It’s not a Fortune Lady Deck,” Trina commented, but she only received a smirk from her opponent, “I End.”
“Then I Draw,” Goe Goe picked a card quickly as if he had done it a thousand times before, “I’ll Set a monster and lay two cards facedown.” The two facedowns appeared on his field before he continued, “Surprised? I’m not going to fall for that obvious trap of yours.”
“Trap Card activate Xing Zhen Hu!” The trap card revealed itself to be a pot and covered by a box that were both tied and sealed together. Goe Goe’s Facedowns both turned violet. “This Trap let’s me seal away two of your Facedowns. You think that I would go up against a Ninja theme deck without having one of these in my own?”
“So what,” Goe Goe shrugged, “I still didn’t fall for your trap.”
“You mean this Trap,” Trina’s second card was a trap that showed a fortuneteller predicting death upon an unseen customer, “Ominous Fortunetelling let’s me guess one random card in your hand, if I can guess if it’s a Monster, Trap or Spell, then you’ll lose 700 lifepoints.”
“NEITHER one was Slip of Fortune!?!”
“Not this time. So unless you want to set another card on the field then it would be my turn,” Goe Goe didn’t so Trina Drew, Goe Goe’s disk randomly selected a card from his hand and it appeared on his field, “Now as for Ominous Fortunetelling, I’m guessing that it’s a Monster.” Goe Goe frowned as he had to reveal the card in question: Kunoichi. “Seriously, you keep female ninjas in your deck, but you wont fight them yourself?”
“Don’t judge me…,” the ninja frowned as he placed the card back in his hand and was zapped with the respective amount of damage from Trina’s Trap.
“Why not? You did it to me. Oh, by the way, Fortune Lady Light’s level increases on my Standby Phase and so does her attack.” The witch of Light glowed as her level and power increased by 1 and 200 respectfully (400 ATK) Trina selected another card from her hand, “I also have a Nobleman of Crossout. This let’s me select and destroy one Facedown Monster. If it’s a flip effect then we both get rid of all copies of that monster from our decks.” Goe Goe’s facedown revealed itself to be the same green ninja that was sidekicking him this whole time. Apparently he was dressed as a monster called, ‘Masked Ninja Ebisu’. (1800 DEF) It wasn’t a flip effect monster, so neither player had to search their decks for it. This worried Trina, she’s never seen this monster before. Come to think of it, she’s never heard of Goe Goe either. “Next I Summon, Wall of Illusion!” A wall that appeared to be made entirely of bone, leather, and a person’s face rose from a dark portal. (1000 ATK) “Now to attack! Shining Future!” Light dashed forward and shot a shining attack at the ninja, knocking him down, “followed by Dark Return!” Wall of Illusion moved forward and surrounded the fallen warrior. Only Goe Goe knows what had happened inside these dark walls, but Trina knew that it didn’t involve a little girl screaming his, er… her head off.
“I’ll end with another facedown,” Trina’s monsters moved themselves back to her side of the field as another facedown appeared. Goe Goe was back on his feet in no time.
“That changes nothing,” Goe Goe drew his card, “for now I play Kunoichi!” The ninja girl jumped up and struck the same pose as she did in her picture (1800 ATK), “Now Attack!” The girl spun her kunai weapon in preparation for her Attack.
“I activate Mirage Tube,” Trina’s Facedown lifted as Fortune Lady Light shot another light energy into the ground. The attack vanished for a moment, then reappeared straight from under Goe Goe’s feet. Kunoichi paused her attack to see what had happened to her duelist.
Kunoichi growled in anger before tossing her kunai at Fortune Lady Light. Light shattered as the kunai shot it’s way through her and past Trina.
The weapon returned it’s trip to it’s owner as Goe Goe continued his move, “Now Set a card and I activate a Spell known as Shien’s Spy. This let’s my monster spend the rest of the turn on your side of the field.” Kunoichi flipped her way to Trina’s side, she waved hello as Goe Goe explained, “When her control switches the new owner loses a random card from their hand.” Kunoichi stole one of Trina’s remaining two cards and flicked it into the graveyard. “Now I end.”
“Not so fast,” Trina pointed out, the ninja girl leaped back to his side of the field, “Konuichi returns to your side of the field, so that means that you’ll have to discard at random too.”
“I know my own monster’s effect,” Goe Goe showed his hand to his monster as she selected the only one for him to discard, “now that my hand is empty then your Ominous Fortunetelling does nothing.”
“Now I draw,” Trina tapped the two cards in her hand, “I’ll play Cup of Ace. Now we get a fifty-fifty chance to draw two new cards.” A golden cup spun it’s way onto the field. It fell over, landing in Goe Goe’s direction. His deck glowed signaling for him to draw two new cards.
“Thanks toots,” Goe Goe winked. Trina grunted at her bad luck. It was bad enough she had to resort to cards like that, but this duel wasn’t over.
“I switch my Wall into defense mode,” Trina signaled for her Wall of Illusion to close it’s eyes and harden up. (1800 DEF), “Then End.”
“My move,” Goe Goe drew, but played a card from his hand immediately, “I play an old classic, Monster Reborn! to bring back Masked Ninja Ebisu!” The green ninja dizzily rose up from the ground and fell to one knee. (1800 DEF)
“Oh Dhank you sensei,” the fanboy cried, like he was the one taken back from the Graveyard, “Dhank you! Dhank you! Dhank you!”
“Of course my good buddy,” Goe Goe gave his partner a thumbs up before he continued, “I wouldn’t do this without your loyal support! I now summon myself to the field.” A carbon copy of Goe Goe appeared onto the field between both Kunoichi and Ebisu. He happily swung that golden weapon of his and laughed loudly like his Duelist (1500 ATK), “I also equip him with the power of the Fuhma Shuriken!” A giant ninja star appeared spinning around Goe Goe, he caught it and spun it around like a baton before setting it on his back. (2200 ATK),“Now I’m sure you know about our famous combination…”
“Actually-”
“First Masked Ninja Ebisu’s power allows me to return spells and traps equal to the amount of ‘Ninja’ Monsters that I control, I count two so you’ll have to return both.” Ebisu made a handsign and concentrated hard. Three seconds later, Trina’s cards poorly poofed away back into her hand. “On top of that: Whenever my partner activates his effect then I am allowed to attack you directly. Goe Goe Lucky Treasure!” Goe Goe popped onto Trina’s side of the field. The monster winked before he threw a thousand coins in the air. The golden coins rained down on Trina like hail.
“I can’t activate my own effect without your hand being bigger,” Goe Goe smiled with a certain sparkle to his teeth, “I’m not going to fall for your Wall’s ability, but your Xing Zhu Hu gone, I can now activate my Traps freely. You wont get the chance to Seal them again.”
“I still get my own turn.”
“When I’m done with my own,” Goe Goe flipped his hair again, “it will be like you didn’t have one at all. End.”
“I draw,” Trina played this card with some worry, “Reload! This lets me shuffle my hand back into my deck and gain a new hand,” Trina drew her three new cards and frowned at her luck. There was nothing that she could really use. Suddenly her bad luck, didn’t seem so bad after all. “I Set a Monster and End.” A new Facedown appeared next to Trina’s Wall of Illusion.
“Smart as well as lovely, I see,” Goe Goe flicked his hair before he drew, “You don’t set any cards and my Ebisu will not be able to attack you directly again… but I have other methods of getting at your Lifepoints. I’ll Summon Upstart Golden Ninja!” Another flashy ninja flipped up and onto the stage. His long scarf was flowing like a cape and his attire was anything but stealthy. (500 ATK) “I’ll also discard one Trap from my hand in order to Special another copy of myself in Defense Mode.” A thrid Goe Goe appeared and landed on one knee just like Ebisu. (1000 DEF) “With that out of the way I’ll Tribute Upstart Golden Ninja to Activate Ninjutsu Art of Transformation!” One of Goe Goe’s Traps rose up and depicting a green haired ninja focusing her power. The Golden Ninja posed dramatically a few times before he leaped up in a puff of smoke. The puff of smoke grew bigger and bigger while Goe Goe explained, “This let’s me summon a Winged Beast or Insect Monster up to 3 stars higher than my Golden Ninja. And I choose Simorgh, Bird of Divinity!” Suddenly lights burst forth from the puff of smoke as great green wings spread out. The giant royal bird flapped his translucent wings shut before landing behind his duelist (2700 ATK). “Simorgh has one special ability. While he’s out on the field, during each of our End Phases, if we don’t have at least two Spell or Traps then we’d lose 1000 Lifepoints. I have my two, do you?”
“Still better than letting your Goe Goe twins get at me Directly.”
“Oh and before you get any bright ideas of trying to get rid of me,” Goe Goe activated his other trap, “My Ninjitsu Art of Decoy will prevent you from destroying my Defense Mode Goe Goe. Not that you’d dare to attack with my Simorgh out to strike you down.”
“So it’s my turn now right,” Trina tapped her foot, “or are you going to do the smart thing and attack me already.”
“Ah, but that would be what you want me to do,” Goe Goe raised a finger, “but I’m wise to your methods now.”
“You tell her Sensei,” Ebisu cheered. Taro covered his ears and face in embarrassment.
“I End.” Simorgh cried out and started a small wind storm. Goe Goe’s two Traps glowed like shields to protect him from 500 points of damage each.
“You really are just an idiot,” Trina drew her card, “Well, this will be fun to do. First I flip my Lady Ninja Yae to Attack Mode.” A green haired ninja flipped out and landed with much more dignity than Kunoichi (1100 ATK). “I’ll now activate her Special Ability to Discard a Wind creature from my hand to return all of your Spells and Traps to your hand.” Trina discarded a Fortune Lady Wind and Yae was surrounded by her own wind storm. Goe Goe’s Traps flew up into the air. The Monster Goe Goe also lost his Fuhma Shuriken. Simorgh cried out in pain and puffed into green smoke before the card floated back down for Goe Goe to catch. “With your Art of Transformation gone, it takes your oversized bird. Now for the other problem, I summon Flame Armor Ninja!” A red and black ninja leaped on to the field with a burst of flames. His metalic armor made him look more like an android than a Ninja. (1700 ATK) “I’ll activate his ability to increase the Level of a Ninja by one. I choose Lady Ninja Yae, of course. Now that she’s a level four, I’m going to show you what a real Ninja can do. I’ll use my Lady Ninja and Armor Ninja to open up the Overlay Network.” Trina’s ninja leaped into the air and burst into a red and green light. The galactic portal opened up between the duelist fields as the two shooting stars swirled into the portal. “I Exceed Summon the dynamic Blade Armor Ninja!” A twin bladed violet armor ninja rose up from the galactic portal surrounded by two shooting stars of his own as if he were an atom. (2200 ATK)
“Not such a big deal,” Goe Goe shrugged.
“Then why are your knees shaking so much,” Trina pointed.
“Don’t suewet it,” Ebisu clapped and cheered, “Sensei’s just exsited frum da adrenaline rush of id all!”
“Ye-yeah, It’s all so exhilarating,” Goe Goe tried to laugh it off as it was nothing, but wasn’t doing a good job of it.
“Okay, just don’t wet yourself. Especially when I activate Blind Spot Strike,” Trina played a Quickplay, “This card let’s me increase Blade Armor Ninja’s attack by half of the defensive power of one of your monsters such as Ebisu.” Blade Armor leaped high in the air while his attack increased (3100 ATK).
“That’s not…,” Goe Goe gulped, “so bad…”
“I’ll also activate my Ninja’s ability. Once per turn, I can detach an Overlay Unit so that he’ll be allowed to attack twice.” Blade Armor Ninja drew forth both of his swords. “Now Attack!” Blade Armor Ninja dashed downward and slashed through the Kunoichi before moving on to the Attack Mode Goe Goe! Both of them vanished in puffs of smoke.
“Hold on,” Goe Goe pointed out as his Goe Goe’s puff released a storm of Fuhma Shuriken back at Trina, “When the Fuhma Shuriken is sent to the Graveyard, then you loose 700 life points as well.”
“Not as big as what you’ve lost,” Trina crossed her arms, “I End.”
“Then I draw.” Goe Goe took one look at his hand before he stopped shaking. Trina knew that wasn’t a good sign, even for an idiot like this guy, “I’ll Set three Facedowns and end my turn.”
“Dat’s da spirit,” Ebisu ‘whoo’ed, “neva give up!”
“My turn then,” Trina drew, but had no time to look at it before…
“I now activate the Ninjitsu Arts of Transformation and Super Transformation,” Goe Goe shouted, “as you know Transformation let’s me tribute one Ninja, like Ebisu, to summon a creature like Simorgh, but Super Transformation allows me to Transform myself and your Wall in order to Special Summon a Sea Serpent, Dinosaur or Dragon to the field.” Goe Goe’s clone leaped to Trina’s side of the field and seemed to merge with it. Ebisu concentrated very hard to disappear in a puff of smoke. When the light and smoke finally cleared Simorgh had returned to the field. Trina’s Wall was gone and replaced with a white cloaked ninja with a flowing white dragon spirit swirling around him. His eyes opened revealing his left eye was burning red. The dragon spirit roared before he flipped and landed on Goe Goe’s side. (2700 ATK)
“I don’t believe this,” Trina gritted her teeth.
“I’ll also activate Ninjutsu Art of Decoy and I choose White Dragon Ninja,” Goe Goe pointed at his third Trap to reveal itself, “By the way, my White Dragon Ninja prevents any of my Spells and Traps from being destroyed by any card effects.”
“You wont be able ta defeat my Sensei now,” Ebisu leaped up and danced like a goof ball. Taro got up and moved himself behind Trina. When he sat down he looked up at Trina’s hand. She had only one card.
“I’ll play another Cup of Ace,” Trina prayed a little for some luck. The cup spun its way out and landed in Trina’s direction. Two cards shot out and landed in her hand.
Taro eyes widened at the cards that she had just drawn. He’s never seen one of them before, but he’s heard rumors about it on the net. He wondered what she would do with it. That is if she could use it, he also noticed the other card she had before she played it.
“I’ll Set another Monster and End.”
“Now Simorgh’s Ability activates,” Goe Goe motioned for his monster to summon his windstorms again. This time towards Trina and she didn’t have any cards to protect her.
“Now we’re even as I Draw,” Goe Goe didn’t like the card that he drew.
“No monsters you can Summon?”
“I still have both of my monsters,” Goe Goe pointed for his first attack, “Royal Storm!” Simorgh opened his beak and let forth a piercing whirlwind that shattered Blade Armor Ninja. “Followed up by Ryūnotamashī Shuriken!” The Dragon Ninja energized his shuriken with his dragon spirit’s energy before he threw it at the facedown monster. The card flipped over as a small brown dog dodged the shuriken attack just barely. “What the? Your Duel Disk must be glitching!”
“Hey, my Holodisk was made and calibrated by my friend Marshal. It never glitches,” Trina turned to smile at the Taro behind her, “however, Shiba-Warrior Taro can’t be destroyed by battle.”
“Then I’ll end my turn,” Goe Goe frowned, his Simorgh performed his storm again, but the changes in lifepoints remained the same.
“Now,” Trina drew her next card. Her luck had seemed to end now. It was Synchro Change. She couldn’t use it without her ace on the field, “I guess, I’ll set one and it’s your move.” Simorgh’s power kicked in again, but thanks to Trina’s two Spell Cards she was left unharmed.
“Then I draw,” Goe Goe scuffed as he saw the card. Again, nothing that he could use, “And I end.” Simorgh blew up yet another worthless windstorm.
Trina closed her eyes as she drew her next card, it was all up to luck now. She slowly opened one eye, “Alright! I Summon Solitaire Magician.” A toony version of a Fortune Lady appeared on the field. (1600 ATK) “However, she’s not staying on the field.”
“Why not, Sensei?”
“Because Taro is a Tuner Monster,” Goe Goe nodded to himself, “Yes, that has to be it.”
“Taro is a Tuner Monster, however,” Trina activated one of her Facedowns, “I’m activating my Soul Stone Spell Card.”

This spell wasn’t something that could really be described, but it was like the person was extracting a card straight out of his own heart.
“This card allows me to Sychro Summon any Monster in my Extra Deck with the only condition being that their combined Levels match up the Target in my Extra Deck.”
“But you already have the requirements on the field. Why would you use that Spell Card to do it?”
“Because my ace Monster can’t be Summoned without it. Now, let’s go Synchro,” Trina signaled her two monsters to leap inside the floating Spell card, “A hero born from past betrayal… Dance in the night! Moonstorm, Protector of Passion!” A tornado burst forth from the spell card as the new violet ninja with a long braid spun out onto the field. She seemed to be a female version of Blade Armor Ninja, even though she possessed no sword. Moonstorm did have a pair of bags full of supplies attached to her belt. (2400 ATK)
“Well, it seems that you’ve made a slight miscalculation,” Goe Goe pointed to the monsters, “your little ace monster only has only 2400 attack strength. Each of my monsters have at least 2700.”
“So you don’t like my monster then you might like her abilities. Whenever she’s Special Summoned she deals damage equal to the level of all monsters that I control x100.” Moonstrom flashed into an outline her six stars gathered themselves. When her color returned, she quickly dug into her bag and threw six kunai at Goe Goe.
“I’ll activate the power of Synchro Change,” Moonstorm reflected the image on the Spell card. She was shrouded by six rings. She shattered into six stars as her outline reformed itself into a japanese warlord with a cord for a weapon. (2800 ATK), “have you met Goyo Guardian? His effect is negated, but his attack power more than makes up for it. Attack his Simorgh!” Goyo Guardian twirled and threw his weapon directly at the imperial bird, he was shattered in an instant.
“That’s not so bad,” Goe Goe wasn’t really shaken up after all. All he would have to do was switch White Dragon Ninja to defense mode and his Lifepoints would be safe.
“It’s your move now.”
“I draw,” Goe Goe smiled again his luck just turned around again, “I play my second Fuhma Shuriken!” White Dragon Ninja’s own shuriken vanished to make way for the jumbo version (3400 ATK), “Now attack with Super Ryūnotamashī Shuriken!!”
“Yes Sensei,” Ebisu waved fans that he had tucked away somewhere, “Da best defense is a good offense.”
“Now let’s see how you can turn this around,” Goe Goe smiled that stupid sparkling smile again.
“That will be easier than you think,” Trina drew her next card, “Moonstorm’s second ability now activates! Whenever she’s removed from play, on my next Standby Phase, she returns to the field in Attack Mode…” Moonstorm spun her way back onto the field. “and then deals damage to your Lifepoints because she was just Special Summoned.” Moonstorm flashed again before throwing another assortment of shuriken at Goe Goe.
“Not a big deal,” Goe Goe shook it off, “I can still win because your Moonstorm is now stuck in Attack Mode. And I’ve got a feeling that my next card will be a Monster.”
“You go Sensei,” Ebisu continued his stupid dance.
“It doesn’t matter if you draw a monster next turn or not…,” Trina smirked.
“What was that,” Goe Goe pretended to not hear her, “You’ve only got one monster out and one card in your hand. What can you possibly do?”
“My turn’s just begun,” Trina motioned for the card that she had just drawn to reveal itself from her hand and onto the field. A small white cat landed on the field, smaller than even Taro, (400 ATK) “I Summon Kinka-Byo.”
“What you plan to defeat me with that Monster,” Goe Goe raised an eyebrow.
“In a sense,” Trina shrugged, “you know the old saying… ’look what the cat dragged in’, well this cat has a close connection with the spirit world. When she is played, she drags out a level one monster from my Graveyard. And I’ve only got one…” The white cat turned to look a Trina. Her shadow burst itself in and out of Trina’s Duel Disk. The demonic shadow cat roared as it removed itself from the golden witch. Fortune Lady Light didn’t look like her normal self. She slowly rose to her feet and turned to look at Goe Goe. It was as if ever bone in her body was broken and her skin hadn’t seen the light of day for years. She still had every wound that she would have had, had survived Kunoichi’s assault.
“What the hell is that,” Goe Goe shrieked.
“Yeah, I really don’t like using Kinka-Byo’s ability for…,” Trina tried to smile about it, but even she wouldn’t say that this was pleasant, “for more than one reason. Especially since it’s not my Moonstorm that will finish you off. I End.”
“Ha! Now I get to-”
“Lose! You get to lose,” Trina shouted as she explained, “My Kinka-Byo is a Spirit Monster. That means that she returns to my hand at my End Phase.” Kinka-Byo vanished from the field, but she didn’t go alone. Fortune Lady Light’s wounds healed up and she began to fade away in sparkling light. “When she is removed from the field any Monster Summoned by her effect is then Banished.”
“But that means…,” Goe Goe lowered his arms as he watched the Fortune Lady fade away.
“It’s just like Future Slip,” Trina smirked, “When Fortune Lady Light is removed from the field, I get to summon another Fortune Lady from my Deck. Meaning…” A burst of flames appeared on Trina’s side of the field. A crimson version of Light appeared in her place. “I get to Special Summon Fortune Lady Fire! And her ability allows me to destroy one Monster you control then inflict damage to your Lifepoints equal to your Ninja’s Attack. Go Scorched Destiny!” Fortune Lady Fire dashed forward and summoned a burning tornado against White Dragon Ninja and Goe Goe himself. The damage was done before White Dragon Ninja’s Fuhma Shuriken could take effect.
“WHY Sensei Why!!!!,” Ebisu cried with genuine tears.
“I am thoroughly beaten and I will accept the consequences,” Goe Goe pretended to be dignified about this before he turned his scorched body towards Trina, “and to the victor goes the spoils.”
“So what have I won,” Trina accepted the card from the Duelist, “oh, hell no…”
“To forever commemorate your victory today, I present you with Goe Goe the Gallant Ninja,” Goe Goe smiled with a sparkle again.
“Um…”
“Keep me in your deck forever,” Goe Goe held Trina’s hands as if he was about to smooch her. Then next few moments was filled with a violent scene that made Goe Goe not so pretty anymore. Seriously, Trina’s fist was steaming when she was done. Ebisu was left crying for his hero even more.
“Come on Taro,” Trina’s attitude changed again when she saw her little friend, “let’s see if we can find a better Ninja to beat.”
“No, I think that I’ve seen enough,” Taro shook his head. Trina couldn’t speak for a few moments.
“YOU CAN TALK!!!!!”
“Ah! No hitting! No Hitting,” Taro shrieked as he covered his head.
“The entire time that…,” Trina shivered before she held her breath and counted to ten, “I am… so sorry…”
“You mean you’re…,” Taro peaked, “not going to kill me?”
“No…,” Trina groaned, “Goe Goe and I do have that in common.”
Taro got back on his feet, “good, because I think that you did great in the duel… even if you did assault an employee.”
“Yeah, well people like that just piss me off,” Trina crossed her arms.
“At least you’ve got a new Ninja card.”
“Yeah, but I was expecting something a little more… useful,” Trina sighed, “why did you take me to the worst Ninja in the world?”
“Because of the rewards,” Taro looked back at Goe Goe, “whenever Goe Goe successfully lands a direct attack the opponent gets bonus DP regardless of if they win or not. I figured you needed it.”
“What’s DP?”
“DP is short for Duelist Points,” Taro looked up at the cat fur, “it’s kind of like the second currency of Duel World. You can use it to buy stuff like cards that you want.”
“Really? Wish I knew that sooner,” Trina stretched her sore muscles, “I wouldn’t have wasted all my time trying to find those Ninjas.”
“Well yeah but…,” Taro looked at the ground, “then we wouldn’t have met and well…”
“Don’t tell me that you actually enjoyed being treated like that.”
“Best part of this job,” Taro smiled, “Speaking which, I think that you should apply to be a Ninja for our park. I’d recommend you myself and-”
“Look Taro,” Trina got down on one knee and placed a hand on the pup’s head, “I’m flattered and all, but I’m not looking for a new job.”
“But you said that-”
“I know what I said,” Trina smiled, “but I’ve kind of developed some dog-like qualities myself. One of which is loyalty. I owe my friends a lot more than just a few bucks, if you know what I mean.”
“Okay…,” Taro lowered his head, “I understand.”
“Thanks for your help,” Trina kissed Taro on the forehead making him freeze. Trina got back up and continued down the path towards the Secret Village. He almost didn’t hear her when she turned around, “you coming or what?”
“But I…,” Taro knew that he really shouldn’t, but he couldn’t resist. He ran to catch up with Trina. Taro then took a moment to relish the action Trina had performed moments before, “I’m never washing my forehead again…”
“What was that?”
“Nothing,” Taro smiled at the cat, “let’s get going!”
