First things first: I'm sorry this is late, but happy new years to all.
Just going to hop right into shout-outs this time because this list is relatively brief as it hasn't been too long since the last one.
*PF - Dead's personal favorite by writer/artist/musician to give anyone interested a starting point.
This time, I want to start with pointing everyone to some writers who are currently working on some big time novels or even a series of novels that I've been entirely enchanted by. All of these should be repeated from one of my previous journals, but I like shouting and I like shouting about things I like and each of these stories simply leaves me craving more. Also, my synopses do not at all do the following the justice they deserve, but I do hope someone might take the time to check some of them out to see for themselves just how polished and beautiful a story the following writers have started.
, better known as Mekanip: "A Chronicle of Lies" - After a freak accident on the drive home, a young man awakens to find himself in a breathtaking new world that has seen its fair share of hardship and past devastation. However, not only is his new world unfamiliar, his own skin is now entirely foreign as he resembles the dragon-like creatures that inhabit this strange planet. Surely it's all just a cringe-inducing dream cooked up by the schizophrenia he's had to endure since he was a child... isn't it?

: "Onyxsoul" - For ages now, the last of the dragons have lived in a secluded region far from the lands of the humans. However, following "The Dream", the large, flying, fire-spewing reptiles have taken it upon themselves to end this separation between the species. Unfortunately, a young dragoness, barely an adult, makes a truly heart-wrenching and mortifying discovery as she performs her first duty toward fulfilling The Dream: some have found a more permanent means of ending the separation between man and dragon... through blood.

: "Synthetic" - Life in a city under the rule of a rather radical theocracy is by no means easy and one really needs time to simply sit back and breathe. However, after getting caught up in a tragic incident that left them near death, a facilities technician finds that life under the rule of the crazed government can get much, much worse. While they agreed to a procedure that ultimately saved their life, they have to wonder if it is even their life they are living anymore...

I'd also like to point out a few other writers I found that are doing their own thing.

I'm afraid I only have one musician to shout-out this time as I still want to delve a little deeper into the works of those I mentioned in my previous journal.
- amazing orchestral tracks that always have me imagining scenes straight out of a fantasy-adventure type story or film.

Lastly, I've mentioned it before, but I have a difficult time figuring out what I like about most artwork, so I only have two names to shout-out for artworks this go round. Finding artistic talent on this site is by no means a challenge, but I do always love images that help put together a story for me. A picture is worth a thousand words, right?
- Doesn't post but so often, but in all honesty Psionic's works are what triggered my interest in attempting pixel art. Although it is abundantly clear that I do not have anywhere near the same skill as Psionic, their works just speak to me more as a "just have fun with it" type of thing.

, also known as Strand - Actually does photography and not the usual pen & paper or paint or so on and on art, but they know just how to frame a picture. The images they caught of Fonthill Castle immediately gave me ideas for several shorts ranging from a murder mystery to a Dracula-esque monster thing. Has also just proven a friendly individual as I have had the pleasure of speaking with them through
's weekend art streams.

In conjunction with the above shout-outs and new year's greeting, I also feel like stating a few new year's resolutions of mine. (What? Hitting the gym? Hey, that was mine last year and I actually did... okay for a while at least! (That is another one this year, but I'm getting off topic.))
I've two resolutions this year that I am hoping to at least give a strong effort before ultimately falling short again that I am also hoping will help me improve in writing, pixel art-ing, and just generally focusing on something for more time than it takes me to--hey, a shiny nickel! (That.)
Honestly, this one was meant as a bit of a joke for myself until 'it' actually happened. 'It' was more or less just a I-wanted-to-see-if-I-could thing: I got my story "Heart of a True Monster" posted on Royal Road. Did not actually see it getting on there, but it was accepted and after the initial stunned surprise passed, I started setting up weekly updates. I'm hoping that the weekly updates will act as a sort of deadline for me to really knuckle down and get future chapters complete as I really want to at least finish Act II by the end of February (doable, but I know me and that goal is not the most realistic).
My second resolution is to work up the nerve to attempt streaming pixel art attempts. Hanging out in
's streams had just been a lot of fun and it got me thinking that maybe I will actually finish some of the silly gifs I start if I were to stream them or maybe it would be fun to stream
attempts. Honestly though, I have actually attempted to start streaming already but would hover over the "start stream" button for a solid ten minutes before just backing out so this resolution may have been broken before I even considered it.
That's about all I had this time and I am starting to struggle to keep my eyes open right now so I'm off to bed.

Also, if you want to stream together there's always multi-streaming options where our streams would appear together for anyone watching.
What exactly is Royal Road btw?
I do kind of wonder how streaming writing attempts might work, but I figure if I ever do manage trying it then it would just be for fun. Though I might panic a bit if someone with real writing talent were to start watching and noting how bizarre my... "style" is.
Royal Road is basically a novel sharing website, though it is not exactly furry-focused.

I would certainly enjoy seeing you stream. I've seen a lot of live streams in my time but never one about pixel art, so that would be something rather unique. Trying to stream writing can be a bit of a crapshoot, but it seems you're already aware of that.
Happy 2024 to you too!
If anything, it'd probably be more comedic than it would be unique to watch me attempt a stream; my approach to pixel art is... very novice at best. (Same goes for my attempts to write if I were to attempt that.)
And a happy 2024 to you too.
