I've seen chatter online in other countries along the lines of "Once Trump wins, they will send Americans to do the same thing here" so yeah, Americans will not be treated like fleeing a dying country, they'll be treated like a virus

With that attitude. It sounds like MAGA has already spread around the world.

Imagine if people said the same thing about Venezuelans (Which some do). "I don't want Venezuelans in my country because I don't want Socialism to spread".

No-one is welcome here in the UK - two of the parties in the running this election have pledged to bring net migration down to zero. We've had a high enough immigration rate for years that it's now created a powerful backlash movement. Xenophobia is thriving.

Why are people here succumbing to all the populist bait?
UK has been boasting about combating migration as a high-profile topic during and since the Brexit campaign. But all that happened is EU national migration is down, non-European migration is up. Plenty of people seem welcome and nothing suggests a change of this status quo.

And the US election will not change anything. Haven't there been warning for this imminent human tidal wave of American refugees for close to twenty years already? It is nowhere to be seen. Chill out. You are the sons and daughters of a revolution and get all teary eyed at the very thought of any political opposition. Take inspiration from your history and heritage. Don't get swept up in this pointless political belly-aching.

Populism is on the rise - and it's showing in polls. The surprise victory of Brexit. The election of Trump, and his continued viability even after his inept coup attempt. Fringe far-right movements like National Rally in France, Alternative for Germany and Reform UK becoming serious contenders winning a substantial percentage of votes.

For the same reason that drives all social conservatives. The deep fear alienation in their own country. Society has changed, they have not, and now they feel the land they grew up in is no longer their home. The people look different, they hear weird forign languages everywhere, the shops are different, the politics have changed, schools are suddenly embracing ideas about gender that would be been regarded as perverse if not criminal thirty years ago, the religion that once united everyone is now just one faith among many, and a lot of people just desperately want the country they once loved back the way it used to be.

It's unfortunate how brainwashed trump supporters are .. I fear for all of us, especially LGBTQ people.
It'll be up to the People of America to take America back, that's pretty clear. We're gonna keep repeating history until the hatred these people spew are gone for good..

Just makes me sad to know America is a laughing circus.
I hate being here, due to the political stance and the people who support republicans.. wish america could be safe but it has never been safe.

The only country I know of where it's relatively easy to gain citizenship as an american is the Netherlands. You get in under the DAFT (Dutch-American Friendship Treaty.)

All the others require significantly more money (millions) or be in a skilled and needed trade (ex: doctor, nurse) and have an offer.
