FA is doomed - or rather, artists on FA
I may have left FA in disagreement, this doesn't prevent me to acknowledge and appreciate all what
dragoneer did for the fandom - he was not another detail in history, he was a huge step that shaped things for two generations at least, and I dare say that his passing, besides being absolutely heartbreaking, is also a huge catastrophe. You and I can say many things, but he had the will, he had the balls, and he had the experience.
Well, brace yourself for the new FA - the King is not even cold that the princes are already messing around, big time.

iskra has been doing pictures in her style for more than 15 years, and what do the admins do? They accuse her of using AI. YOU MORONS, LOOK AT HER GALLERY, SHE'S BEEN POSTING THIS KIND OF ART FOR FIVE TIMES MORE TIME THAN AI FOR ARTISTS EXIST!!!!!!! And would they have a talk with her first? DIRECT STRIKE, NO WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the futu- no, the FA of today now. Rude, incompetent admins (already exeprienced some of them myself) roaming unhinged. No education, no reflexion, no brain. The perfect example of the current generation thinking they already know everything and are always right but incapable of an attention span longer than 20 seconds.
I should have placed bets because I knew this day would come soon, only I thought I would see this happening from some users, not admins. Being lunatic in moderation is already something, but this new level of incompetency is just STUNNING.
I am very, VERY afraid for the wonderful
silverone, because since AI began spreading it was her I believed would be targeted by retards. If you don't hear about her anymore oneday, you'll know I was right.
It is for me also the perfect mirror of the world today. There is no hope for humanity, I'm not even sure what "humanity" means anymore. Kill it with fire.

O.o just click the link it should relieve ya nerves
Besides, I'm more tempted to believe Iskra who's been here for more than 15 years than a relatively new user I never heard about, plus I've SEEN from direct experience the, how does she call them? "FA workers" at work, and I do NOT believe anything what they say anymore.
The workload is no excuse: an half-a-second glance at her gallery is enough to make you think twice about your assumptions, followed by another five seconds only to realize that the art is the same several pages further (and years earlier). Hell, they probably would have SPARED precious time checking rather than starting the banhammer procedure!!!
Especially with AI art that can mimic many styles, you have to be EXTRA careful when you hunt witches.
Hell, it could even get better.
And Silverone can easily prove that her work isn't AI generated. Cool ya jets, Ami.
Regretted
The stuff that Saara had deleted was because of the last round of censorship, which was a while ago. That had nothing to do with AI. (I consider that censorship rule to have been bullshit, but nothing anyone thought about that had any effect)
You've got two artists who have been here since EONS, with a solid art record to be checked anytime. They both have been striked without any warning on serious but completely unfounded accusations. Isn't that enough for you? I'm checking only a tiny fraction of the artist population here, who knows how many have been hit the same way (well, I've heard about quite a few, didn't check but too many already to be completely dismissed...).
Next genius move I'm having an eye for is for
See one of my comments farther down on Iskra's journal for a recent experience of mine.
As far as Jim's Penance pics, I don't think any of those on here violate the current rules. If anything, the pics would just be deleted.
We have no way of knowing the future.
Once again, since almost twenty years I've been here, I've seen a lot happening. And I say A LOT.
But nothing compares in gravity and frequency what's going on since a year and a half now. It's a little like what we are experiencing with our action on the climate. You won't necessarily see the difference most of the time. But extreme events will happen more frequently and will be more violent each time. And apart if you are a newborn with no experience of the past or if you live in a cave (or just put your head in the sand), you know it will only get worse in that direction with time. And only another catastrophic event will be able to brutally change this course.
I've had a number of interactions with the admins here. I can only think of one where I thought their decision was completely unjustified, where Ireported someone for blatant antisemitism, and provided at least seven pieces of evidence. They did nothing. The jerk is still on here.
But as we've both now said, we shall see...

That's also not a great example. While I didn't support that rule, and it sounds like what happened to IO was stupid, they were not forced to take such a drastic step.
Hope their stuff was at least posted somewhere else. I love their work.
If you'd like to I'd welcome it, though. Perhaps I'd learn something, and I always like that.
This is not a compliment.
Half today's journals are about where else artists have spread to... out of necessity. They didn't sign up for those sites, today. Some previous wave of arbitrary exclusion slapped them in the face, and they learned to treat this site as a place things disappear. It is one hell of a thing to have a website pushing twenty years old and still feel ephemeral.
Maybe whoever's in charge next will know about these things called "warnings." Or care whether a post violating a rule was posted ten years before that rule existed. Or at least begin the boilerplate we-erased-your-art messages with 'sorry' instead of 'how dare you.'
We can dream.
Some of what they provide is technical. Most of what they provide is simply not being this website.
Perhaps we should just say that we disagree.
In fact, the acceleration of arbitrary deletion is relatively recent at that scale, and I do firmly believe it began to happen because Neer felt for any reason of his own he had to step back a little. He was able to federate under his banner and had the final word, nobody is taking that function now and anarchy is in full swing.
About the warnings, well it's starting quite badly, in fact the exact opposite is happening. And as I stated, at least Neer had the will, balls and experience. Obviously nobody has any of this anymore now.
I don't think that FA being doomed is a foregone thing, and really, as long as the internet remains a public entity, there will always be room for another fur to step in with a new hub site should FA fall into the wrong hands. Indeed, some of Dragoneer's more potent failings directly lead to competitors like Weasyl and Inkbunny being formed.
The fandom is a lot bigger than it once was, and as long as there is a need to be filled and the market is open, the niche will always be ready to accept fresh attempts at it.
And now I see a general disband from the old guard, all the friends and relations I've been able to make. Are they gathering at another precise place? No, one is going full Twitter, the other on Weasyl, the third on BlueSky...
It's always a good thing to have the choice where you wanna expose yourself, the problem being that it just splits the community in so many small patches again - and I have the feeling the time itself is not meant anymore for sites like FA. Too many people. Too few real leaders.
If "Maybe I'm mistaken and that artist didn't AI post ? I should IM instead of removing the post" is an impossibility with FA moderators then the site doesn't deserve the artists on it.
If they have no time to IM and it's a manpower issue, then send private warnings that don't delete the art right away; have a button to press that sends a template "We think this picture is AI, please provide sketches to prove it is not" admin note, make it obvious in their inbox so they don't miss it. FA has developpers, right ? It can't be that hard, I'd do it if they asked. If no proof is received in a week, poof goes the picture automatically, simple, fast, fair.
If the issue is that some moderator abuse their tools then kick their ass off moderation. There's no need for power tripping jerks in a moderation team. Put an AI in their place, it'll be a good use for the technology for once.
But my anger towards "humanity" is nowhere to be stopped anyway, furries are certainly not my major concern
