What a way to come back after a short holiday...
First of all, Rest in Peace Dragoneer. If it weren't for you making this website, I wouldn't be drawing nearly as much as I do.
As for the fate of FurAffinity... honestly, I am terrified, heartbroken.
I've really relied on FA for almost everything. I love the gallery system, it let me keep things organized... but sadly that may not last now. And everything is at risk of being lost.
Some of my older stuff will most likely vanish unless it's been posted to Twitter/ e621/ R34
My main concern rn is all the OC lore I've written here. I'm gonna be focusing on backing that up first.
I hope the mods of FA are able to sort something out at least to keep it going.

I do already have Twitter and Bluesky. Cohost COULD potentially be a good replacement if it works any better than what it did.
(Fyi Cohost was pretty unreliable for me, it kept immediately corrupting images and wouldn't work for DAYS, so I put it on hiatus.)
I'm not interested in Inkbunny, I wanna avoid the cub side of things. I don't feel comfortable. I forget if Weasyl is the same or not.

Sorry if it feels like I'm venting on ya, just all this fear mongering seems kinda rude to Dragoneer's memory and the fandom as a whole to think this place is going to just vanish.
I'm sure they'll tell us if something is imminent. There's not even any need to speculate.
preserving your works in multiple places is still a good practice.
My art professors would always say: "If it doesn't exist in at least 3 places, it doesn't exist at all."
But yeah, it's quite the craziness to come back to, eh?
Second, I'm not one to believe in such bullhockey that the site is gonna meet its bitter end. I'm at least positive that someone is probably gonna step up and keep the site running even with his departure. It got this far, we can't possibly lose hope

Cohost is cool, I do want to suggest some kind of self(-ish)-hosting such as Neocities or something as Web 1.0 Revival is a current talking point and your stuff feels like the kind of situation that would benefit from that (or using it as a hub. Like that carrd thing but having more information and flexibility with how that's presented). Just a thought, something to think about.
As for FA dying, that sounds like Hoopla; it may go tits up depending on who controls it next but it won't be a sudden "We're broke, site's dead" situation.
Though, backing your stuff up is not a bad idea. Hell, make multiple backups. Also zordraggon is right you can use furarchiver for easy downloading of your stuff, it's not flawless but it can get some of your stuff and descriptions, try it out. Though I don't think the staff like linking it.
He really deserved better.
But I wouldn't worry about Furaffinity just yet. At least in the short-term, stuff said things would run as usual. And I'm certain they will work out a solution. The site is too important to just drop.
I could happily set you with you an Invite Code to it free of charge. I use it PRIMARILY and ONLY for Character Artwork I've commissioned on there alongside any bits of lore and story that was written involving certain characters.
I highly suggest using it.
