Anyone have experience sending cards out for grading?
This is something I've semi debated on doing recently with some of my old pokemon cards. There's probably only a handful I'd want to do it with. I have a shadowless charizard, 1st ecition venusaur, 1st edition dark charizard, holo and just the rare and then maybe one or two other older cards. I've only looked into it a little bit. Part of what keeps me from doing it it having to throw money at these services, when they can be hit or miss either way. Where, from what I understand, cards can just get rated bad if the person is having a bad day. That and it's this whole thing of having to spend so much money to get cards sent in. Especially if it's actually worth some money. The actual PSA service is pretty much out of the question. I think they want like $150 to grade my charizard. SGC seems like a better overall experience and more worth it from what I understand. I guess there is the whole option of sending stuff to gamestop and having them send it in for me. But by the looks of it I could run into the same issue. Since they use PSA and I'd still probably be charged "extra fees" for sending in several of my cards. So at that point I'd end up either just saying screw it and trying to sell my cards as is or just sending in like one or two of my cards. Mostly just the ones that would probably be worth the most.

I think it's a stupid service. But if I were going to sell cards and use a grading service, I would pony up the extra money for PSA. It's the standard for Pokemon cards.

I think the sad part it is one of those "spend money to make money" situations. I'm still going to test the waters and look up guides to "self grade" the cards. Because I'd be really upset if I sent something in, spent that money and then it was pretty much a waste. That and I'll have to see what a shop will possibly pay with for all the cards as is. Because I'm also not so much trying to find people to buy them, I've attempted making posts but since I'm not popular it doesn't matter, and mostly looking into selling to shops.

I would not sell to an LGS. They generally offer 50% of the card's value.

Yeah, though I'm not selling on ebay and dealing with all of that. Not that it's any better if I can across someone in the fandom that wanted them. With my luck I'd just get scammed by them anyways.
