Strong Men and Good Times

There’s a saying I really like, even it’s associated with right wing shitposters.
“Good times create weak men, weak men create bad times, bad times make strong men, strong men create good times.”
I don’t know where the quote comes from, and It can be considered a bit naive and cynical. But I’m okay with taking it out of its original context and adding my own. In that people who think they’re strong, as in people who view compassion as weakness and are insecure about themselves. This insecurity comes from fear, which leads to conformity. These are weak men who think they are strong, they create bad times to fill in the holes in their hearts.
Bad times create times when compassion means survival, becoming strong people bound by hope. It’s that hope that creates good times.
That might be naive too. But it’s a thought I like.

Having grown up in good times and in a sheltered, upper middle class environment, bad times have really exposed my weaknesses lol
