I know you hate the holiday, but, originally it wasnt meant to be the stupid holiday it is now.

In Europe, particularily in France & Italy, they call "April Fools Day" "Possion D'avril" or "Pesce D'aprile" which literally translated, it means "April Fish"

Because, in those two countries a very long time ago, the first of April marked the beginning of the fishing season which was met with huge celebrations and mock "funerals" for fish. the tradition of joke playing that we as North Americans (rather stupidly i might hasten to add) came from the practice of little French or Italian children making paper fish and sticking them on the backs of grownups, whilst shouting "Poisson D'avril!" or "Pesce D'aprile!". these customs are still practiced today.

Frankly, the thing is that you can never tell if someone is seriously in trouble or not on april fools. If you guess wrong it can be really bad should the 'joke' be serious or the serious post be a 'joke'. Those that genuinely care or don't know you will probably treat it as such.

The only April Fools Day I remember and can laugh at is the one where mom woke me up saying it snowed and I got the day off from school. I ran to the balcony door and was all excited and then was disappointed that I had to go to school. Other than that I find it mean and try not to pull pranks anymore. I find it mean.
