Thoughts about Avy's hair

            WELL
well well welly well well
I finally cut my hair. Anybody who knows me very well (read as: my boobcat x3) knows that I have always hated my long hair. Long hair on African American heads is almost always a massive undertaking, and in particular, my hair is thick to the point of being solid, fine as dental floss and curly as a moe'suckra. It used to take 2 hours to comb through all of it every day, 4 hours if I skipped a day or got caught in the rain, god forbid. When wet, it was so long and so thick and so heavy, that I couldn't hold my head up on my own. I could not do it myself, I had to pay about 100 dollars every three months or so to get it relaxed/straightened (which also took about 4 hours, and was more painful than I could describe in words). My scalp was dying, suffocating, beneath three heads worth of hair that, even with all the work I could possibly muster, it still was dirty and full of dead skin and nastiness. Just... the worst thing ever. Has been since I was a small child. 21 years of that shit, finally had enough and cut it all off.
Needless to say, I love it. I can do it myself, wash it myself, combing it is virtually painless and takes like... 60 seconds. I timed it last night, it's so fantastic, I could cry happy tears.
But here's my point. Since I cut my most noticeable physical feature off, I momentarily visited the idea of similarly trimming/shortening Avy's hair to coincide. Because I NEVER in my life actually enjoyed my hair, Avy was always deliberately designed to have shorter hair (closer in style to what I wanted rather than what I had), and her current hairstyle is not even close to my original back-length hair anyway. But now, her hair is significantly longer than mine, more jagged and unruly than my new hairstyle is, so I was thinking of reworking it a little bit to be more accurate without looking... weird, hopefully. I dunno.
Thoughts?
I might just be asking this in a journal to get Kaykay's birthday blog off the main page. x3

But I dunno,if you like drawing hair you can leave it as they are :3
Maybe you can make them a little bit shorter(?)
I had no idea hair could be that big of a problem... I mean, I know it can be pretty troublesome at times, but never that bad. But I can see where you're coming from. After months of arguing with myself, I caved and got mine cut shorter, too. xD;
Just glad to hear you're happy with your shorter & more manageable 'do! c:
As for Avy's hair... I say do whatever you're more comfortable with. Maybe sketch out a few doodles of her with her new and old hairstyles, and just see which you like more? I dunno. Sometimes it's the little details in our characters that let us better identify ourselves with them. If changing her hair is one of those details, go for it!
Yeah right after I made this post, I did some sketches for visualization purposes. So I'll probably play around with it and figure it out. Something about shorter hair on Avy looks... awkward.
I remember when I cut my hair.... I always hated it too, but it was the opposite of yours. Blonde, thin and scraggly as shit, and with fifty gazillion split ends. XP Also down past my butt.
But even with scraggly hair, when I cut it, I was liek WHOA I CAN MOVE MY HEAD NOW THIS IS SO AWESOME.
If dogs could sweat, Pancake would be shiney. I have her fur all ruffed' up and messy, because mine only stays nice for about 5-10 minues after I brush it.
I'd say go for matching your hair c:
It adds... awesome. It adds awesome.
And it's up to you, I wouldn't mind either way. I'm sure you'd find a way to make a new hairstyle work on her.
And as for avy's hair, it might be cool if you maybe made it to look more like a traditional hyena mane. Maybe just a little bit shorter than it already is. Or you could do a bushy hyena-mohawk. That would be sexy
As for whether you should change Avy's hair, that's up to you. But maybe you could try drawing her with and without, and seeing which one you like better.
Also, the 'traditional hyena mane' idea that
Personally I like Avy's hair, but it would be interesting to see what she would look like with some different styles.
I actually think Avy’s hair gives a good indicator for her emotions. :3 In a lot of the drawings I’ve seen you do of her angry, her hair tends to spike more forward, looking almost like a warning flag waving up for battle. If you want Avy to be more of a resemblance towards you now then shortening it would be a good idea but if you’re going for more of a mix of what you wish you had then keeping it the way it is now may still work.
But I say do whatever you feel like with Avy's "hair". Maybe make a few doodles/sketches of her with shorter hair and compare, see which you like better. If you like both, combine the length/style or whatever. Do whatcha want, guurl.
As for Avy's hair... hmm, I'm curious to see any concepts you may have on changing it, of course. ^^ Though changing it for good is up to you. Maybe using her new and old hairstyles might help you express different things in your work? Just a random thought.
Anyways, congrats on getting it cut short. :B I seem to remember having seen you complain about it before at some point.
As for Avy's hair, I have no idea. xD
