Computer problems...

Yeah, we all have some sooner or later. My hard drive from my laptop just failed me yesterday, and by the looks of it it's a mechanical problem, so no known recovery software can back up my data. The drive makes constant clicking sounds and it's buzzing from time to time, meaning something's wrong in the read/write function. Can't even boot up with it. Damn...
Of course, all my stories I was working on were on that drive, and no I didn't back it up well because I edit them regularly, and the drive was brand new with the laptop I bought 6 months ago. I know Asus' brand have a good reputation, but I can' think of any reason it's now dead, it just broke on its own.
It started by a super-slow loading screen, like there was so many files to load up, then suddenly it was working right. Two times I heard a louder noise than usual, then left it open for a while, and when I came back it was shut down, telling me he couldn't load whatever file he needed for going to sleep mode. Then it wouldn't boot up by hanging at a black screen. Trying to repair it to a earlier time when the pc was functioning, but at midway the clicking noise started and now it's dead.
I'm telling you this because if it happens to you, backup whatever important file immediately on a usb stick or through a program.
Tried the "driver in the freezer" method, which is known to make your drive run for a short while, giving you the time to recover some files, but so far it hasn't been successful. The technique is known to work for older, desktop computer drives with a small size, not a laptop 500Go hard drive unfortunately. If you've got any other idea that might work, I'll be glad to hear them. Though I won't go to a recovery data company or going to repair it obviously because it's damn too expensive. Can't afford it.
For what's becoming of the stories I was working on, I probably won't rewrite them, except I'm going to continue the series I started to post. Don't expect it soon though, I also lost most of my paperwork from college and some class notes too, so I've got to fix this mess up first!
Sorry for the inconvenience.
