The Flooding 2 - House Destroyed
Roads are still closed but Xyks found some aerial photographs of the canyon road. Large files!

The white roofed building was the house. It went on a bit of a journey. As you can see, there will be no getting up there for a while.
We have some options that I don't want to get into right now, but we remain in a holding pattern until the property can be assessed. It's not over yet.
Thanks for all the kind words, folks! We re fine, our current home is fine. These photos are heart breaking after what would have been a beautiful story to tell, but again, at last this happened before we closed.

May you find a good solution from here. Good luck, and best wishes as you work on it.
My thoughts and love to you.
*hugs*
if it was me, i would insist on at least that good of a deal on it.
i would say lucky this happened BEFORE you'd put more into it then whatever you already had.
and i'm guessing luckier then a lot of people in the same area.
if any part of the property wasn't flooded, now you can see where to put a house where it won't be.
between walking away from the "earnest money" invested in the process, or driving the hardest bargan you can for a bare piece of land,
i know if it was me, i'd still love to have the bare piece of land. but for the price of a bare piece of land. not the price of a damaged house having once been on it.
looks like the road was built a little too close to the creek too.
just because they call it a hundred year level, doesn't mean you can expect it to take a hundred years before it happens again.
whenever i see flood damage, i have thoughts about a culture, so focused on money, that it misses the reality of nature, and then wonders why it happens.
Though, maybe you don't want a piece of land that has shown a tendency to...relocate itself. :D
Lots of options available. You'll find the Right Place eventually. :)
if you need some help donations wise, i can pitch in a bit!
So sorry to hear about your house, but glad you were able to get out of there yourself.
My house escaped with nothing more than a little bit of standing water in the back yard on the last day or two of the storms, and I'm supremely thankful for that. Looking at all the pictures around the internet it's just...devastating. I can't imagine.
Btw, this is a new account/character of
:( I am glad you and Xyks are okay!!!
oh no ;_;

Is the house one you own or was this some of your neighbors?!
Man.. I hope you guys are gonna be okay.
K Fox (I lost my therapy in losing that road...but I got off rather easy all things considered. I'll take it and hope well for others.)
