Huh, it's not a conspiracy (for once)...

So, just had the shock of the year…
So yesterday, when I was at work, the manager of Human Resources- we’ll call him Bob, and Jane, she’s over the financial aspect of HR, stood outside of my office and asked if I was busy. You know, it’s NEVER a good sign when HR wants to talk to you, especially when they’re holding paperwork in their hands. So I said “Sure, I got five minutes to spare…” Bob says “We’ve had to make some cutbacks to your pay…”
…
…
Yeah, not increase but CUTS to my pay! My face actually went pale- a funny thing to see really but, yeah, I was not laughing. He then sets some paperwork in front of me. I was getting ready to commit some workplace violence against our HR department, and then-
I nearly fell out of my chair. They not only gave me a new title but a raise! First off, Bob has some jokes! He said he couldn't resist messing with me so he decided to play a little joke on me and what better way than to make it seem like they were going to cut my pay or worse (...). You see what I work with here?! Anyway, back on track-
I’ve been doing so much extra work and projects not only for my department but for the hospital and its employees- and not to brag, but getting recognition for it. So HR, along with my boss, decided to fight to get me a new title and pay to reflect my work. And to my close friends I’ve been talking with, that’s a huge relief since right now the facility is trying to do cutbacks and layoffs, hiring and promotions are very scarce right now.
What's that you say- the corporate world actually –rewarding- hard work? A manager and Human Resources department that actually care about its employees and fights for you?Blasphemy! That is a lie!
Trust me; I’m still in awe over here myself. I went to HR shortly after they told me all this and one of the women in there told me all the work they did to not only get my position changed but how they were cheering me on, hmm. Anyway, my new position takes effect starting the next pay cycle/period since they'll have to update me in the computer and payroll system. So Bob and Jane congratulated me, and Bob told me point blank he was –very- surprised it got approved…and I am too to be honest. When someone requests a new position here, it requires a long, drawn out process from the manager explaining why they need the position and then it’s got to be approved by three people: the head of HR, said manager/supervisor requesting the position and finally the CEO of the hospital, who can veto it even if the other two parties agree with it.
So yeah, wolfcat is doing okay right now. My boss and coworkers are excited for me, as are my parents. Me? Pfft, I’m still going about things nonchalant- you know; don’t want to get a big head over it. Though I have to admit, it feels odd. I'm not really "excited" about it yet. I mean, yay, promotion- but I seem to be the only one not bouncing off the walls about it. I guess because I realize that it's really the same job I have now. Now I'm just being compensated for all the extra work I do -shrugs-
Anyway, hope everyone is doing well. I’m gonna celebrate by ordering a pizza…meh, screw that, I'm still watching my weight. I’m gonna spend the weekend vegging out, eating ice cream (ice cream is good for you, it's got milk...yeah, healthy stuff!), and playing some games until it's time go to back to work again. Until later~

Congrats on the new raise.
But thanks! I hope things are okay with your job as well (read your journal from a few days ago and I know how that goes)
It's nice...more work but nice I guess (there goes what little life I had)
All the more reason why I would prioritize you over anybody else as my partner at ANY con.
Needless to say, revenge will happen to "Bob!" (but seriously, he is a very awesome guy, love working with him) Thankfully I'm on VERY good terms with our HR since I work so closely with their department so I can joke around and tease them within reason. I can't talk, I would have done the same thing if I was in his shoes.
But yeah, my "promotion" is basically the same job I have now (secretary) only I got a title change and raise to reflect my degree and work I do for the facility. Which don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, it's a huge honor! I'm just going to...well keep doing what I always do~
