Still alive-ish...I think
Hello everyone! I hope everyone is doing okay. Thought I would check in since it's been a while since I posted anything.
Usually by now I post art of Whisper's brown summer coat everyone seems to love. Yeah, "the spots!" But due to work, I have been way too busy and burned out to really post much, much less have the time to compose descriptions to go with each piece.
As most of my close friends and longterm watchers know, I work in a hospital and am considered an "essential worker." And before anyone asks:
-Yes, I have been exposed to people with corona, but I am fine. I mean I work in a hospital so most of us are pretty much at risk just walking into the door every day!
-No, I have not been sick (thankfully)
-Yes, I am fine.
I have even been redeployed to help out in other areas due to how serious and short-staffed some of the departments are. Yeah, redeployed. It's just as bad as it sounds.
So with this coronavirus going on right now, you can imagine how busy my workload has gotten since then! However, I will not go into detail about that since I know most people are tired of hearing about this virus. But things are starting to settle down for me (finally) so hopefully I will resume posting art soon.
So yes, I am still around.
I have to admit I am a little jealous of those of you that got to "self quarantine" the last few months. I know some of you hate it, but as someone that's been out there working nonstop and deal with all the stress and its effects caused by this virus? Yeah, I am exhausted. Thankful to be working, but physically and mentally exhausted. There are days I have been so exhausted after work, I come home, "decontaminate" (get out of my scrubs and wash up), and go straight to bed.
Otherwise life is going on as normal for me! I am still fighting the evil scale, err, my weight.
You would think as active as I am and as much weight as I can lift now, I would be as small as a toothpick by now. NO. I've actually gained weight :| It is a conspiracy y'all, I swear.
Oh, and guess what...
I am (possibly) getting ready to upgrade my gaming rig!
...yes, I'm VERY excited, not even going to lie.
It has been 5, going on 6 years now since "The Beast" as I call it was first created, and it's due for a tuneup.
Originally, I was just going to buy a new video card for it, but I might just go all the way and do the mobo, ram, and cpu while I'm at it since all of it is a bit dated now. Every since I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, whenever I play WoW my game sporadically crashes saying "low memory" (It has 16gb of ram so...no, that is not the issue), or I get the white screen of death. No clue what's causing it, but after doing all kinds of troubleshooting on my own, and going to the forums, I have come back with no answers. Prompting me to just want to start fresh and rebuild the old boy to see if that helps any!
No, I have no clue what kind of build I'm getting yet as I am still a bit of a noob when it comes to building my own pc. That and I'm frugal- which makes for building a gaming pc difficult, haha.
I'm still debating an Intel and AMD cpu at the moment (I am currently running Intel 5; I5-4690K). My boss raves about his Ryzen 7, so I might consider looking switching over...we will see. Right now I'm mostly researching parts, saving money, and waiting for some summer sales before I start buying anything! However, if anyone has some suggestions on a good budget build for a pc gamer, please feel free to share! I know there are plenty of techy furs out there so I would love your input.
But enough about me, how is everyone doing?
Also, hello all you new watchers! I love going to people's pages and seeing who you are and why the heck you followed me. By the way, the heck are some of you coming from?! I have not posted anything in ages and I am still getting new watchers.
Hopefully everyone is staying safe and sane right now.
Have a good one~

Fixed now~
But I won't go into that right now.
I'm telling you, a good gaming rig is a great investment! One of my friends just bought one that was store bought: cost him almost 2000 dollars!!!! I wanted to smack him for spending so much on a pc when he could have built one for cheaper, lol
I think I still have your number (unless you have changed it). I will text you sometime this weekend and check in
But yeah, I do recommend Ryzen. Been running a ryzen based system since first gen(upgraded from a Phenom 2x 6 system. remember those?). I'm an old dragon lol XD
Yeah I looked over that combo you sent me (the sale ended unfortunately), but I think I'm going with a ryzen build now! It's just catching a sale when I have money now, lol
Ryzen is the hot thing right now, and for the time being the fastest performing x86 family CPU while also having better bang for the buck.
I am just surviving, nothing has significantly changed for me with this whole shit that's going on worldwide...
Yeah I think I am converting to ryzen. justicekyo convinced me to look at a Ryzen 7 build and I'm liking its specs! I just want a decent rig that will last another 5-6 years.
I'm just glad you're okay over there. Please be safe!
I upgraded my rig a few months back and I grabbed a AMD since I'd used intel all my years. From what I understand the basic idea is that AMD generally handles multiple tasks better while Intel's are better at single tasks.
I opted for a really heavy core count so I wouldn't have to upgrade the CPU in the future (Ryzen 9), the other components are far more modular and can be upgraded over time and spread the cost out a bit.
Also might be good to think of what kind of games you want to play, is it going to be the most graphically intense or running very complicated systems at a time so you need a CPU-powerhouse?
Glad to hear you're holding up. I miss talking for yas! Hope you stay safe as well!
Yeah, I REALLY think I am converting to AMD! After speaking with several of you guys, along with my boss, that seems to be the way to go. Now I just need to find a good sale so I can upgrade my mobo, cpu, ram, and gpu all at once!
...yeah, I might be asking too much, haha. Hopefully Newegg has a good sale this summer so that should help. Thankfully my case, power supply, and one of my ssds should be salvageable. But everything else will be upgraded: or that is the plan at least.
"Also might be good to think of what kind of games you want to play, is it going to be the most graphically intense or running very complicated systems at a time so you need a CPU-powerhouse?" Currently I'm playing WoW, though I have some games on Steam such as Borderlands 3 I plan on eventually playing as well.
My issue is, when I am gaming, I run several programs in the background, such as: discord (required for my raid team and talking to friends while gaming), Firefox- which apparently is cpu intensive as well when running multiple tabs AND watching videos.
I am glad to hear from you too!!! Are you okay over there and staying safe?
Your requirements doesn't sound very bad to me, the biggest CPU hog sounds like the video watching tbh, WoW should run on a machine wired to a potato battery at this point xP Doing all that at once though is gonna tank your internet so I hope you have a high speed connection! Have you already settled on the parts? If you haven't going AMD should be the best option I think and again I personally think it's a good idea to go a bit processor heavy since it's far easier to add/replace a GPU. Say you go for 8 cores instead of 6 and pick up a cheaper graphics card to start with. There's a site called pcpartpicker (link here; https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ ) that does an excellent job of letting you know if all your parts will fit together. I used it extensively when I built my current one!
Oh and thanks for being that frontliner! We all owe you all for what you do!
I was tinkering on there in between work and making a rough draft of my dream build! When I finish with it, I might send it your way to get your expertise on it~
It is for sure going to be a Ryzen 7 build; that much I am sure of; I'm mostly picking around trying to find a mobo I want, and a gpu that does not cost an arm and a leg! Unfortunately it does not look like I will be able to salvage my hdds like I did with my last build; I will need to convert to ssds- which I am okay with.
So I am going over costs, seeing what I can salvage from my current build (right now just looks like the case, power supply, optic drives, and monitor), and other things of that matter.
In addition, I had one friend recommend I move WoW to an ssd (it's currently running on an hdd) to see if that would improve its performance.
And yes, I have good internet: overpriced as heck, but good so that should not be the issue (better not be as much as I'm paying for it!)
Oh and thank you! I really do not feel like I am doing much compared to some of the others out there but the sentiment is appreciated nonetheless~
I dont know much about PC specs but this Razer laptop uses NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR5 VRAM, fucking outstanding specs graphically. I think you're gonna be wanting to focos on virtual memory more than a gfx card though, unless you wanna run some top end stuff.
Yeah you told me about your laptop! I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of gaming laptops (I prefer desktops or consoles for gaming) but for what you use your laptop for, you got a damn good deal and it should run your games fine; I'm jealous!
Thankfully some of the guys on here have been giving me some great advice so hopefully by the end of the summer I should have a new build underway.
Everything is about the same on my end, I get to go back to work next Monday so that should be interesting considering the virus is now spreading fast threw our little town at the moment.. I got lots done around the yard atleast! Built a fence, pond, water wheel, potting bench, garden, and some flower beds!
Hey, you're going back to work! That's...bad. Really bad. You work in a factory. Factories are notorious for spreading covid right now due to working in close range with other people and touching machinery.
Please be sure to wear a mask to work- and carry hand sanitizer if you have any; I don't want you getting sick!
Also, I want to see a picture of your pond you built, that sounds nice!!!
Here is some pics and a video of the water wheel, it's 6 feet round lol!

Well I hope they properly check y'all. Factories seem to be the hardest hit due to employees working in small, confided spaces and coming to work sick without telling others. So of course I thought of you when you said that. Just be careful
