Sometimes...

...the simplest things really do make you happy.
It's been a week since my promotion at work (see previous journal). As I was leaving out of work today, Bob, the manager of HR and infamous prankster that made me think I was getting a paycut...yeah, him. Came up to me and gave me a hug and asked me how I was enjoying the change and such. Then we talked for about five minutes about some other work matters which I won't disclose (hospital policies and all).
Now, I know that sounds unorthodox and even unprofessional, especially a boss hugging you...but keep in mind this is the South, not to mention he's a pretty lax guy to begin with so it's his nature to be as friendly, yet professional as possible to all employees.
But I tell y'all what, considering I haven't had a hug in...dear gah, I can't even REMEMBER the last time I had one! Is that sad? yeah, I'm pretty sure it is. Anyway, it felt, nice. And not in a "Oh, woe is me, I'm so lonely, emo, and need physical contact" sort of way. I mean "Huh, I'm actually noticed and appreciated for my hard work, maybe I should keep that up." Not to mention how candid yet relaxed he was talking to me outside of work. Let's face it, how many of your bosses, much less HR supervisors would talk to you outside business hours? Exactly. Which made me realize I"m damn lucky to have a job that I enjoy! It has its moments, and gah knows there are times I wish I could just hide under my desk until it's time to go home (I've tried, believe me, lol). But overall, it's...okay.
...on a random, conspiracy filled note, I really hate WoW's rng and loot/drop system. Like...I'm this close to hunting down a suitable sacrifice to increase my loot and droprate percentage. And if you don't know I'm rambling about, let me see if I can put it in geek/gamer terms- ever played a game where you needed x amount of a, b, c, or d to progress on to the next quest or part of the storyline? But the droprate for what you need is so bad or random, you can spend what seems like days, weeks or even months farming that ONE thing? Or how you need that one item to really help your character- that helm, chestpiece, ring, weapon...but it won't drop no matter how many times you run it? Yet your friend runs the same instance and gets it on their first attempt?!
Yeah, that's me right now *sighs and rubs my forehead* Will probably delete this journal tomorrow if I feel like it; just felt like rambling a bit since I've been too lazy to post any art lately. Until later~

As for WoW... Eesh, if only the "rare" loot was half as hard to obtain as the damn useless quest items! I actually love crazy low drop rates because it stops the whiny 12 year olds and bad players from getting top notch gear (more of a PvP perspective), and the in-game economy is usually better (me earning money-wise). That's why after 8 years I just had to quit, no more challenge or gratification. </3 Good luck! :P
