I grew up in the age of NES, but I still really don't know anything about Zelda.

This is really sad :C

I only turned 19 in the summer and I knew EVERYTHING they were talking about- plus I've owned my own for about 4 years now.

My generation upsets me- AND WHAT IS ZELDA. ;^; like the best thing ever.

I feel so old. My reply when the kid said his dad used to play it was, "Fuck you, kid.... damnit, I AM old enough to be your dad!"

I grew up in the NES age, I know Contra, Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Kid Icarus, Metroid, Duck Hunt, and various others from the good old 8-bit days. =3

I still remember being a LITTLE little kid and going to the store and finding out there is now a Mario 2... The world was actually a fun place without the internet and game mags. You just went to the stores and everything was new and interesting and you never knew what it was you were getting until you did. I remember spending most my time at ToysRus looking at the glassed off display case of all the different NES models and what they came with. That was back when ToysRus used the slips of paper and barley even had a game isle; it was just an extension of the board game isle XD

Then the SNES and Genesis came out and all hell broke loose.

I still own most of the Zelda games, still have a working NES, SNES, and functioning games that I listed above. I remember those old Toys R Us days, oh the happy memories of getting Geoffrey Dollars from grandma every Christmas, and taking a family trip to visit her and go to the store to spend them then show her what we got. Slips of paper with a series of numbers on them that the cashier at the register had to walk over to a securely locked area and find the game that was being purchased. I'd gotten my Super Scope that way, came with the game it went to, I spent days playing that game, then discovering new things about that game, and some of the secrets. Beating the boss was a bit easier than beating some of the preliminary battles, but I had a blast. As for magazines, I used to have Nintendo Power, thanks to a contest they included every month as an insert for those, I have Mew on my Pokémon Yellow, and I have issue 100 as well.

I grew up with my old Amiga 500 and Sega 8-bit. And the latter had Alex Kid built into the system!

Been playin' the good ol' SNES this past week.

Honestly I was impressed by how positive and generally respectful these kids were. I mean, I think most of them (while not having the same reverence for the console as we might) still understood the importance of the system and that this was really where video games as we know it started.

And despite their overall ignorance of the system, they still mostly embraced it and wanted to play the games when offered the chance, with a couple of them really enjoying themselves!

I was also impressed about their ability to immediately recognize the spoiled nature/hand-holding attitude a lot of people have regarding games and systems nowadays.

So I dunno... if anything this video sort of makes me feel a bit old, but I was expecting a LOT worse when I saw the title XD

Yup, and that's how you can tell who genuinely loves playing games; the ones who were able to see the appeal, regardless of how old it was, were pretty cool.

I just moved out with my bf, who has all the new systems, but I still find myself playing the SNES and N64

Simple buttons, goofy rituals to get it to work.... lord I miss that era! That was the console that started me on my downward spiral of Mario madness, way back when my mom needed a player 2.
Even though the graphics got better and the games got bigger, nothing quite compares to the challenge of an old school side-scroller. It's nice that they all kept to the tradition of almost all Mario games: the first goomba of the first level kicks your ass every time.

The first time I played an NES was when me and my mom were selling candy door-to-door as Campfire scouts (It was like the boy/girl scouts, only unisex) when this nice lady let us into her very nice house and I played with her kid while both our moms talked about things. That kid had an NES and the moment I grabbed the controller I suddenly knew what life was all about...

what is wrong with those teens?!? Im 16 and I dont know a single person my age who does not know what an NES is. I actually know a few people my age who have bought an NES becuase they like the games.

Fun fact: I was born two years before the Famicom came out. That's right, I'm older than the NES.

i remember my brother got a NES for christmas in 1989. and we had to SHARE IT. Let me tell you, those square controllers hurt when you get hit in the head with them. Baseball Stars 2 was my game. Go Cobras!

My n64 and ps2 i've long since given away, but I still have that NES and I doubt I'll ever part with it.

I have an NES that still works but the controllers are both broken. My N64 still works too.

They have another series, of old people react to. I've watched some episodes. It really is interesting seeing some of the reactions.

My parents wouldn't buy me an NES when it came out. 'You already have an Atari 2600, why do you need a Nintendo?'

I feel old now. XD

Also, they sell replacement connectors for the inside of the NES now that are gold plated that don't have the connection issues as the original hardware. So no more blinking screen, blowing on the cartridge, etc

The kids do have a point about the color scheme.

I have a working SNES and a lot of games (Including two Super Gameboy cartridges), though I haven't managed to obtain any Zelda games for it.
Also have a semi-working (I've been meaning to fix a loose battery connection that makes it cut out rather frequently), grey-brick GameBoy.
Wish I could get an N64 with Ocarina of Time, that was my introduction to the Zeldaverse.

Guess I am some kind of looser. Never played Zelda or link games until I purchased star fox 64 3ds and got the Zelda time game, got annoyed looking for a shield and traded it in for Pokemon x

I am looking forward to 30 years from now whether an XBoxONE would still work if you just plugged it back in and started to play again... I bet a NES still will!

I'm 28 and I don't know what is Zelda too :( But I'm from Mordor Federation, we had limited selection of games back in 90s.

I was 12 when the NES first came out in America. Always loved it - The NES was the absolute coolest thing for a bedbound sick kid, it was just way cooler than the VCS, hahaha. The original Zelda music still makes me wiggle my toes~♫

Don't feel bad. I think they purposefully pick the most dunce people they can find and put them in these videos.

Like the question of which they thought was better. Sure, the new consoles have ergonomics, but it takes only a few seconds to get into a game! Now you have to go through the interface menus, then you have unskippable publisher and developer logos, some intro credits, and often the first cutscene is unskippable. Not to mention DLC, social media integration, and get these damn kids off my lawn!

These days teens were born after 2000, I legitimately believe these guys were clueless about the game console I grew up on, I was only fairly unconvinced about the people who didn't know what Legend of Zelda was, the games are still titled with that xD

I'm much too young to be feeling this old. My grandmother bought a NES so we'd all want to visit more. Needless to say, we enjoyed sleeping over.

I'm impressed they abstained from uttering "hashtag" or "yolo" at any time throughout the video; more impressed still they extoled the console's history, it's status hitherto, and what it meant to people back then, despite it being "crazy" to think it was ever at any time the pinnacle of gaming.

NES is so awesome, never had it but I play some games on an emulator

The problem started when they looked at it and took more than 1 second to figure out where the cartridge went.
Also, the entire react series ruined fine bros., give a google/bing search for their old "Dogfucker" series...and notice how it's gone. I've never seen something so completely wiped off the internet before. They used to be funny, and then just found this cash cow and are milking it dry.

I was born in 91, my first console was the SNES when I was 10, just around the time the game cube was being developed. I traded it in for an n64, which was stolen due to my idiocy(I had a tv and my console out in our shed, for got to lock it when I had gone in for the night) then worked my ass off in school for 2 years before getting a xbox. I still wish I had the SNES so I could play Primal Rage and Claymation fighters.
