Awesome mascot performances: Goooly, IIHF IHWC2011, Slovakia
11 years ago
So yeah, character performance is a thing I like to focus on. I like to work on body animation, expressive things I can do with the character, ways I can be really goofy, or excited, or cute, or whatever the situation calls for -- and I've had a lot of fun working on things like that! It's to the point that I may be co-organizing a fursuit performance panel at next year's Rocky Mountain Fur Con, especially because I've had a lot of people tell me they really like how I perform.
Of course, learning is a never-ending journey. I watch stuff like this, and realize that *I* still have a lot to learn, too.

This is Goooly, who appears to be the mascot from the 2011 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Slovakia.
Of course, there's a lot of stuff I wouldn't be able to do for liability reasons (er, not to mention lack of skill & courage) -- but even just the energy the mascot expresses, the level of animation that performer has -- it's amazing. I'm gonna have to study, practice, and build some of that animation & energy level. Gotta STEP IT UP some notches!
Also, yeah, this is emphasizing that I need to keep making future muzzles floppy, like Diago's.

Of course, if I tried to leap off a balcony like he does, I'd snap both legs and dislocate both hips :D.
Aaah, I would love to see you do a panel on fursuit performance!
