Need some tech support! (Keyboard)
The "y" key on my laptop keyboard types a "7" for some reason! This is the only key that's doing this. Holding down shift and hitting it also produces a "&". Anyone have any ideas on what's up or how to get it fixed? It was working fine to my knowledge all yesterday, but I did leave my laptop on through the night, which is something I usually don't do. Already tried restarting, which is about all I can figure out to do.
For now I'm using KeyTweak to reassign "7" to "y" and I guess I'll take my laptop to a tech support place. I need to have the screen swapped out anyway since there's a dead column of pixels.

Perhaps so. Could be that your lappy ran hot enough to somehow mess with the wiring of the keys if 7 and Y now output the same stuff. Artificial Obsolescense is a fun thing~ =w=
Does it have a numpad? If not, does it have a Fn key toggle? Usually, laptops with Fn keys will have a numpad spanning some letters on the right side of the keyboard. Check the Fn key if possible.
Another thing that could damage the keyboard is if you leave something pressing down a key continuously, that could weaken the silicone pad.
Leaving the laptop on during the night should be no problem.
Best case: its just lint or dust and can be cleaned quick.
Med case: the key still shorted and may need cleaning and a small coat of conductive coating.
Worst case: the key is damaged completely and have to replace the keyboard on the laptop.
Good luck.
