So like an idiot I degreed the cam wrong. It's retarded. So I'll be advancing that today. Hopefully do a rotate test of everything to check my valve to piston clearances and see if the valve springs bind up. Hopefully they don't. Also going to look at the valve train geometry and see if that will be satisfactory.
Then pull off some main and rod bearings to check them because when I pulled the oil pan off. There were a lot of sparkles in the bottom of the pan. I'm hoping it's just the hone being knocked off the cylinder walls. But if it's bearing materiel I want to know now while it's out instead of when I turn thekey. Or make a pass.
Getting closer.

After that. Put the intake on, see if that needs to be shaved. Then it's engine pulling time. I'm pretty nervous about that part.
Yeah checking the ports for alignment is always fun. I got to do that with my headers soon. What manifold were you ganna run? I forgot already. Wolf/Mustang here you know.
You can sometimes simply use an intake gasket as a template and lay it on the head with a few bolts installed to hold it as it would be with the intake bolted down. That would tell you what the head side looks like. Then do simular with the intake and intake bolts. But you have to be careful doing this that you have the gasket sitting exactly were it would be when sandwhiched between the heads and intake. If it's off you can try to get thicker or thinner intake gaskets. If its way off you might have to mill the intake down a little.
But unless you're running a seriously HP engine, a little off is not a big deal. I used to dyno Cup cars and you'd be surprised how forgiving a 800HP engine can be sometimes. Slight port misalignment usually isn't ganna make or break you. Heck on my intake (see the engine in my scrapes) the builder says cutting off an inch at the carb base only kills 10HP.
