Story Progress Update 1/1/2016
I'm still plugging away at a lot of prerequisite work, and unfortunately don't have anything tangible at the moment. My biggest project right now is distribution of resources(which will aid in determining expansion of each civilization) and other such progressive planning. It's going to take a good deal of background work to actually get a story going, which is an unfortunate side-effect to keeping integrity.
I figure if I just start making stuff up as I go and writing chapters, without taking natural species progression into consideration, the established locations the characters visit and troubles they encounter have a high chance of contradicting natural species progression, something which will undoubtedly come up if/when I start to write origin stories. As we all (should) know, resources and land are the two biggest reasons for war. And war is one of the largest impacts on a civilization's overall strength as such. For example, one species that is attacked for resources by several other species will end up progressing/advancing more slowly. They will gradually become a weaker, smaller country, until they are potentially wiped out, as unfortunate as that is.
In a nutshell, I just want to do things right, and keep storyline integrity intact as much as possible. While I still don't have anything readable yet, work really is being done, and something will be coming soon.
P.S.: I wanted to present my extensive list of species so far included in this story. Now, I do know of the vast expanse of species in the furry fandom, but including every single species I can look up would just be too much. Besides, this is meant to be similar to Elder Scrolls, only with more content, and more of a history and lore that the 'consumer' can truly experience. That being said, Elder Scrolls has never had more than ten playable races, by default. My story has sixty. They are as follows:
Humanoid:
-Human
-Elf
-Simian
Mammals:
-Jackal
-Fox
-Wolf
-Striped Hyena
-Aardwolf
-Spotted Hyena
-Snow Leopard
-Sand Cat
-Lynx
-Cacomistle
-Raccoon
-Coati
-Ferret
-Weasel
-Badger
-Moupin
-Rabbit
-Hare
-Squirrel
-Chipmunk
-Marmot
-Rat
-Mouse
-Muskrat
Reptilian:
-Newt
-Frog
-Salamander
-Blue-belly Lizard
-Emerald Lizard
-Spiny Lizard
-Lace Monitor
-Crocodile Monitor
-Komodo Dragon
-Furred Dragon
-Winged Dragon
-Wingless Dragon
Feathered:
-Hawk
-Eagle
-Albatross
-Robin
-Bluejay
-Raven
-Madagascar Owl
-Barn Owl
-Horned Owl
Hooved:
-Zebra
-Donkey
-Horse
-Kudu
-Nilgai
-Cow
-Deer
-Brocket
-Moose
-Serow
-Sheep
-Ibex
And that's all of them, folks! There's a lot of ground to cover given 60 species. I'd like to hope people won't become upset that I left out one or more of their favorite species of animals, but I feel like I got a fairly decent coverage going. Even if your absolute favorite isn't here, I hope you can at least be satisfied with the next closest thing.
Stay tuned for the next update, hoping to have at least a textual trailer out by then!
