I typically use oster or whal pet trimmers. I will have to add it to the list! (Now that being said i do use the cheaper models and you DO get what you pay for)

I was looking at the Whal brand, I can't find the right color short pile so looks like I'll be trimming a lot!

Make sure you go with the fur, not against it like on a real animal. Don't try to get it down all the way on the first stroke. And never point the blade toward the base, keep it level with it or on a SLIGHT angle, cause it will catch and bite all the way to the backing. <3

They work decent especially if its your first time and you don't know what you like and at about $10 don't break the bank. I do prefer the adjustable cut length. I set mine at full long and sometimes will even tape the lever there so I don't accidentally bump it to short while I'm shaving. I only use the short around the eye mesh in the curves but if your really unsure about shaving, or new to it, that area can be easier to scissor trim sometimes if the base is super curvy like mine.

My blanks only fit the 1 1/4, but I've seen others use the 1 1/2

The front clear part is clear plastic safety goggles, the back tinted part is safety glasses that are tinted like sunglasses and the eye part is a laminated print out of the eyes that were deigned on a computer. ^^

Do you have some blanks that you like paint and then do all the fur work on the back of the head, the ears and the cape is fur. Question because I have a crystumes blank it already has a fur texture and I want to paint it. Is their a specific type of paint you use to paint the blanks?

I use the primer one the material locator, then acrylic (usually folk art metallic cause it just gives a better over all look in my opinion. ) Then I use the sealer on the material locator list.

I have only done really short ones sadly so I can't help you too much. I know most would require at least a two part mold. I personally use the Rebound 25 for this with the thickener. (there may be better options for this though) and larger horns are stronger when filled with expanding foam after doing the resin layers but the finer skill for this I have not learned.

I heat them up so that I can cut certain parts of them with a razor knife and a tapper. So in the sense that I can avoid using the dremel for the whole thing it does save me dust. ^.^

Thank you so much for compiling this, it takes so much of the guesswork and anxiety out of the process to have a materials list recommended by an expert <3
Any chance you could estimate how many kanekalon 'braids' you'd use for a typical head (maybe one with a horse/hyena-like mane)?
