Being taught to avoid talking about Politics and Religion has led to a lack of understanding of Politics and Religion. What we should have been taught was how to have a civil conversation about a difficult topic.

Okay, first of all, yes, you did. Yes, you absolutely effing well DID. You dressed up in Revolutionary war LARP costumes, made your open, telegraphed political goal to do everything you absolutely could to make the country ungovernable, literally burned effigies, and talked about taking the country back for 8 damn years.
Secondly, Obama never ran on a platform of registering all Christians because of their ties to hate crimes, or had a VP who liked to electrocute straight people until they became gay. Your coming for our guns/socialism were not literally based on EXPLICIT campaign promises.
And you would have voided every bowel and bladder in your collective movement at once if he'd put a Black Panther as his chief strategist back in 2008.

We expect the Cheeto in chief to display these qualitys in short order, as he no longer has to hunt for votes. We will oppose you as is our patriotic duty.
