BTW, the initial report of this instance came out a couple weeks ago. There have only been three instances of arrests of Furries made in the media this year. The one in PA, this one and just recently one in the UK.
But I agree, it's all a little much in the span of two months.

There's another story out there that explains that the mother of the kid called this lady some sort of "mentor", so it sounds like she had hooked up with him in some other way and got involved with him during that. It's just simply a side note that he's a furry and she showed up to the events with him sorta like a guardian.
We were freaks according to those outside of the fandom already (even to some within the fandom... CrushYiffDestroy anyone?), this isnt going to change much.
Maybe just increase the number of people that knows about furries at all, we're still pretty 'underground' and most of the people that know about furry are geeks, nerds, chantards, and furries themselves. If more people find out about our fandom, it's not just this one case that is going to give us a bad name...

We're a group of pervs, yes, we already were, have been since the fandom took off, and probably will be far into the future.
Calls for 'cleaning up the fandom' are very familiar, it's been tried and failed miserably by a group calling themselves Burned Furs.
They said that they couldnt tell co-workers, bosses and family that they were furries, because of their fear of the huge amounts of furry porn floating around the net would lose them their jobs, or family, if it got out they belonged to this group.
I'd say, why tell your boss or co-workers anything? if you have to mention what kind of art/animation you like, use anthropomorphics or anything similar. No-one will fire you for being a fan of animal disney movies.
All sorts of people associate themselves with Furry. The ones on my "do not want to be associated with" list contains for example nazifurs... But you aint gona change that. Best you can do, is not associate yourselves with *them*.
TL;DR :we never had a good reputation before this, we wont have much of a worse reputation now. We're skunkfuckers. I for one dont care about reputations that much.
At least the articles don't say that furries are sex fiends like so many others have.

Otherwise it wasn't all that BAD, but I certainly don't remember furries as a group weighing in on the situation, and it was nice of them to give a convention name that's completely unrelated to the event, as if to say, hey if you don't like them, go yell at them here.
